@@groovayfunkay I would love to but Neil has never competed so I don't have competition footage to break down. Possibly I could look at Michael Chandler who I know has used some of his stuff in MMA.
I'm excited to see you are making instructional. Your videos are always absolute gold! I would love to see an instructional that dives deep into the over under clinch and how to apply it in MMA/grappling. I've seen your translation of Fedor's video and I'm wondering if you could elaborate on how to off-balance your opponents from the position. Thanks!
Thank you so much for covering this pass. I believe there is huge technical real estate out there in low posture passes vs closed guard. This works really well with the Sao Paulo pass.
Thanks for commenting! Glad you enjoyed it, yes once you have the arm it is essentially a variation of Sao Paulo passing but some of thedanger has been removed as they have limited mobility.
Love this pass and use it often. Picked it up from Mario Sperry’s Vale Tudo series and added tons of my own details, insight and tricks. I usually don’t stand up because it makes it easier for my uke to get the arm free. Once it’s under his lower back with my weigh on top it creates a lot of friction making the arm trap tighter without using strength.
This is an awesome breakdown. I've used this pass before but I use to tripod and just shove the arm across. Walking around looks way more efficient, what a great detail 👌
I once saw a similar technique by Neil Melanson, but he was passing on his knees and I often got triangled when trying it. With your stand up variation I shold make this work once the covid-19 situation is over.
@@SonnyBrown Also... it's youtube... you could cure cancer, solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and deflect a meteor heading for earth with your fist, and you'd still have people yelling 'you suck'
Thanks so much for making this. My coach taught it once and I loved it. I've since found a video of Dean Lister doing it where he briefly demonstrates finishing the Hammerlock while still inside the opponent's guard. Either way it's a favourite of mine.
Please make a Video On "Knee on Belly Position" beside the wall & the Ground N Pound options With that Position & Submission Options besides the wall Thanks.
@@SonnyBrown thanks so much! I really appreciate that alot you just reminded me of something, I Wondering about the Arm Post Defense which Khabib Nurmagomedov & Jon Jones uses if can please make a video on that too if got time thank you very much for your time!
One of the first passes I've learned but have had difficulty breaking the closed guard w/ it lately. These details will help, can't wait to try it Monday! Thanks
It did. I've used it to pass a few guards in tournament matches, and just Friday night I shared this with a white belt (college wrestler, one of those guys). Thank you for the details, it made the difference. Cheers!
@@SonnyBrown unrelated side note, you look like my brother. It's wild, seeing his face on your body. Lol !! You ever see someone that looks like a sibling but isn't?
Guys at my gym are pretty big and im pretty skinny. Im waiting to show up tomorrow, grab their wrist and they just yank is away regardless of all my body weight being on it haha.
