Located approximately twenty-five miles southwest of downtown Minneapolis, the Hammer’s Haven neighborhood in Chaska Minnesota is a wonderful place for families that desires both the friendliness of a small town and the progressiveness of the big city.

Hammer’s Haven is a fairly new neighborhood with beautiful homes, close community ties, and great local amenities. It’s also full of familiar faces, kindred spirits and home to many young families with kids.
What is now a housing development of 28 homes located in Chaska, the Hammer’s Haven development started as just 5 homes in the early 2000’s. At this time, the housing market was at its peak and plans for the new highway 212 was underway. bbBetween 2005-2007, however, the housing market crashed resulting in the development changing names from a Canadian builder called Windwood Homes to Breckenridge Builders. As time passed, and the housing market improved, more homes were gradually added by a variety of other custom builders as well until it reached its full development in 2010.
In 2008 Highway 212 was completed which created more convenience to major employment cities, while still maintaining its quieter, more tight-knit community. Also being completed as the nearby commercial development of Chaska Commons featuring retailers like Super Target, CUB foods, Home Depot and a variety of restaurants. Hammer’s Haven offered a convenient location to a variety of public and private schools in Chaska’s school district 112.
Today The neighborhood branches into 3 separate cul de sacs. This arrangement ensures that there is no through-traffic, and creates a safer environment for children to play.
Throughout the year, during a typical afternoon or evening, the neighborhood is full of a variety of outdoor activities and events, such as: picnics, BBQ’s, bonfires, pizza parties, cookouts, soccer & basketball fun, sledding, ice skating, easter egg hunts, holiday get togethers, poker nights, and annual celebrations (golf ).
Another Annually event the city of Chaska holds a city wide garage sale weekend and many residents in the neighborhood participate.
In early August, the residents in Hammer’s Haven get together for a national event called the Neighborhood Night Out, which is designed to strengthen local community spirit. Residents in the neighborhoods enjoy the evening outdoors socializing with neighbors, and a visit from local volunteer firefighters and police to show some of their iconic vehicles for kids to tour and get pictures with.
Adjacent to Hammer’s Haven are over 10 miles of paved recreational trails that weave throughout Chaska’s parks, playgrounds and iconic landmarks. They are perfect for going on a a scenic run or walk, or taking the entire family out to explore on a bike ride and maybe stopping by the nearby Dairy Queen.
Other comparable communities in Chaska are paired with a specific community association, but residents of Hammer’s Haven are able to enjoy the same level of community without having to pay association dues or be affiliated with the Jonathan Association. This makes Hammer’s Haven a truly unique housing development within the city of Chaska.
