One thing, I want to note about the german televote is, it was still open, while the jury vote was announced, so there is a possibility, that people didn't vote for ryk, just because the jury vote already made his win very unlikely.

Btw, some weeks ago Nemo performed „This body“ in a much more powerful and positive version on the private Swiss TV channel 3+. As for Germany, I agree that Ryk‘s song is marvellous and would have had a realistic top ten chance.

We have to remember that Jury in Germanys Nf were not germans lol. They were INTERNATIONAL juries who gave Max 10 points... not the germans.

The Code is just such a good representation of being Nonbinary. In the text, visually, and in the music. It is just so impowering. Having some traditional femine aspects (operatic bits) some more masculine bits (rap part) and some unique nonbinary experiences (pop) as the glue. And finding unique, yet elegant ways to piece them together in one whole picture.

I was devastated when I heard that Grossstadtgeflüster wasn’t going to compete for Germany. Here in Iceland this song was EVERYWHERE. Literally everyone was talking about how much they loved it, even people I know that don’t really care about ESC (yeah ik, shocker. Icelanders that don’t care about Eurovision lol) knew about this song and were excited for Germany to have a good song. Sad but oh well, if we shouldn’t have assumed so early. Also Nemo is easily my number 1 this year and is top 5 in my top ESC songs of all time

Gabe, the Germans didn’t ruin Ryk’s chances, it was the international jury. They made sure only Max or Isaak could win. The German public voted for Isaak, to prevent Max from winning. If Ryk still would have had a chance to win after the jury votes, then probably he would have won the televote. I’ve heard/read from many Germans that they didn’t vote for Ryk because there was no point anymore. Therefore, the German public can’t be blamed for this disaster. Only NDR with their horrible voting system and the international jury. Greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭

It's easy to forget Germany was set to send Ben Dolic who had a banger in 2020. Whatever system Germany used that year, they should do that again.

First of all: Thank you for the Germany-section. As a German I'm so sick and tired. NDR doesn't have a clue and it would have much bleaker if 2018 never happened. The national final has been a hot mess and the Eurovision-hype in Germany is dying. At least NDR is gone after this Eurovision-season. My biggest fear was that Max Mutzke is winning our national final. Many celebrieties in Germany have promoted him since he got top 10 and some people think he could do it again. "Oh Boy" hasn't clicked with the wider audience in Germany, but I didn't think Isaak had a chance whatsoever. Anyway, I just hope Isaak can bring us at least high enough that the artist is not getting blamed for going to Eurovision. The german media is very rude. He doesn't deserve that.

Is it just me? I didn’t find Ryks song any more compelling that’s Isaac’s. To me they are both slightly dated and snoozy. I do hope Isaac does ok though, I feel like giving him a couple of votes bc he’s clear top guy and has a great voice.

EDIT; Omg thank you for including my "i'm sorry, zero points" Germany edit LMAO it caught me so off-guard! I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't like or understand "Oh Boy".. I genuinely think Germany would place in the bottom (again) if they sent it. It's just a big hunk of nothing burger to me, I've tried getting into it several times but it just gives me nothing. He's got a really nice voice though! (Disclaimer; I like "Always On The Run" but I think it will get a similar result to what "Oh Boy" would, and before someone accuses me of not liking ballads, "Hold Me Closer" by Cornelia Jakobs is my absolute favorite ESC song with over 2000 streams, with my 2nd fav being "Neka Mi Ne Svane" by Danijela (Croatia 1999) - Oh Boy just never clicked for me)

Germany - I don’t care what anyone else says I LOVE this song and it’s my #2. I don’t think it’s perfect for esc but it’s very similar to what I’d listen to in my free time. That being said I like Ryk’s song even more and it probably would’ve been my #1. Poland - I like the song a lot but it hasn’t cracked my top 10, I have no idea how it’s going to do but it’ll hopefully have a good staging concept Switzerland - my #3, I remember watching this for the first time and just sitting there in shock like ‘wow that’s one of the most amazing things I’ve ever watched’ it’s one of a kind and they perform it amazingly. I really hope this wins

I couldn't imagine any song grabbing my heart more than Finland's entry this year, but Nemo truly blew me away. The Code gripped me at first listen and now I can't imagine anyone else winning.

I'm so glad you mentioned This Body by Nemo, I felt the two songs really go together and make each song even more incredible by hearing them both, This Body makes me feel so sad to listen to but The Code really feels like it's a closing chapter to how Nemo felt, I really hope they do have peace within themselves because they deserve it so much. ❤

Thank you for introducing me to Oh Boy by Ryk. I have never cried just from listening to a song, but when I listened to it, the combination of the beauty of the song, the soft power of Ryk’s voice, and my anger that this song was robbed of a chance to show the world how amazing it is in favor of the most generic song in the entire competition made me tear up, and I have listened to the song 40 times in a row since watching this video.

My favourite songs from this year has changed drastically. First it was Ukraine, then it was Croatia, and now it’s Switzerland. hopefully we can go back to Switzerland for the first time in 36 years in 2025

Since you talked about fan contests, I'm gonna share my fun fact: I've participated once to one (about twice or three times overall), back in 2018 I would say. I was attributed Norway, and like there were a rule like "don't bring someone who has already participated to a Eurovision event, and don't use a song that has more than a few million views"(don't remember the exact limit). So I searched "Norwegian songs", and in the end I found a very interesting but at the time not very well-known to the public, a young blond with a peculiar voice, AURORA, and her song Runaway. I fell in love instantly and chose it as my entry, and I managed to get 3rd place!

Funny thing, the wildcard song by Floryan sounds exactly like the beginning of Armenia 2014. Same key, and 4 BPM less than Not Alone.

The German broadcaster needs to sit down and watch the first segment of this video for a whole week on loop. Poland has definitely the most interesting girly bop this year. I wonder how she’ll stage it🤔 And for Nemo, I'm just glad that SRF made the right choice and recently really got the assignment.

My friend and I have a whole inside joke together about Germany this year, because Isaak is so nice and talented but the song is not very competitive, so over all it's just a safe choice. So every time something happens in Eurovision that we don't like we say to each other 'well at least we still have Germany'.
