Thought about doing that years ago. Aim down the deck a couple track lengths. Never let the wood force you back. Put it somewhere in front. When you move back you put down a few square to your tracks and build up from them. In the worst cases you gotta hop out front and move enough to get a fresh start. Use the long butts backwards in the gaps when you build up the new layer
