I enjoyed this and had wondered about hammock camping with a dog. Both shelters were nifty, but I would prefer the larger one that allows better dog access. Sherpa is a beautiful dog!
Well this is ironic, this Vid answered a question I had in your "5 tips" episode. I've always wondered how a dog would do in their own hammock (say a HH Scout Zip), hung below yours, like a gear bag. I'm sure it would need some mods, the most being training your dog, at home, to use a hammock. When Gifford and I would go on an overnighter (tent camping), I would put booties on his paws, Ruff Wear makes some with Vibram soles and a boot tread. Gifford was my Lab, 15-1/2 years old. Now just a place in my heart and a file in my brain. I miss him so much. Watching Sherpa brings back some terrific memories. She is Beautiful! Full of joy and love.
Thanks for your comments. I love hearing about folks and their dog camping experience. I like the Grand Trunk option because it protects her from the mosquitos. I recall a trip to the Wind River Range to the Titcomb Basin and there were tons of mosquitos at our campsite and Sherpa was begging to get inside the bug net and away from the mosquitos. So I think having something hang below your hammock like a gear bag but I do like being able to protect her from the insects too, even though it is a much heavier option. Thanks again commenting!
I really appreciate you sharing this. I have developed different things for my best buddy, but I think we both share the same love for our dogs. I, too, find myself reaching out of my hammock to scratch my Golden's head in the middle of the night.
Hey! My Dutch Netless hammock is 11 ft. and it works with that very well. So, I would assume that it would work for your 11 ft. onewind hammock. I think it would even work with a 12 ft. hammock based on the room I have in the Grand Trunk but I've only used my Netless hammock with it.
