Brand: Hampton Bay (SMC)
Model: Littleton
This is a 42” Hampton Bay Littleton ceiling fan in the white finish, shown with the Bleached Oak blade finish and original schoolhouse light kit. This fan is dated April 1996 and was manufactured by SMC.
The Littleton is perhaps one of the most common Hampton Bay ceiling fans you can find. While this fan has seen several minor design changes, primarily from different OEM suppliers over the years, the general look and model name “Littleton” has been sold at Home Depot for close to 30 years at this point and is still available even today. This fan was essentially the economic solution to those who needed a fan but had low ceilings. This particular iteration is an earlier example of the Littleton. Similar to many other Hampton Bay fans in the 90’s, production was outsourced to SMC and a simple Hampton Bay logo was slapped on the fan along with the packaging. This fan even came with the classic SMC “Oreo” pull chains.
Overall this really isn’t too bad of a fan but it’s certainly nothing great. The airflow is average for a hugger fan this size. The motor hums a little but the bearings are silent. I’d even say this fan is built and performs better than the SMC made Grayton.
