Hampton is such a phenomenal lifter. And seeing how Hampton and his coaches were celebrating was amazing. To be 19 years-old and setting records is incredible.
@@MarMaxGamingHe set the Senior World Record. That’s what the announcers just said. He set both World Records (Youth and Senior) with his final lift. But hey, who am I to correct you with facts? Maybe you didn’t watch the full video. But don’t mind me. I just might be the idiot my wife has claimed that I am for the last thirty years.
@@brokl26 that’s definitely my bad, you’re not the idiot at least in this context haha I missed it.. that’s unbelievable, these world records are so incredibly hard to get… Senior, as in old people? Did they say that by mistake? Because it doesn’t make any sense for a 19 year old to hold a senior record, I think you have to be over 50-60 years old? The thing that confuses me is he got a WR, yet he is ranked 5th in the world…
The first time I saw Hampton Morris I thought "Huh. Jacked Pee Wee Herman". There have been no jokes rising in my head since that first time because this kid is freaking legit. This blows my mind, and I love seeing it. Can't wait to watch him as time goes on. Btw- there's a great docu about him called Hamp the Champ on RU-vid that give great insight into his life, mentality, and training. Worth a look, imho.
The first time I saw Hampton Morris was when I saw a vid of an unknown (to me) 56 kg kid back squatting 290 lbs for 10 reps! I thought it was fake on RU-vid. It was 2018 and I had no idea who he was. I found out pretty quickly.
The guy who is always hugging and kissing him like a father is Pyrros Dimas who is a LEGEND of the sport and is the technical advisor in USA team last 7-8 years and that’s why you see a bloom in that sport. His knowledge is beyond comprehension and USA athletes are lucky to have him in their corner
Wow... I got chills watching his lift...I was 13 when Joe Dube set his world record in 1968....hope this young man keeps progressing.....looking forward to watching more of his lifting.....
Am not surprised. Anyone that has seen that great documentary on him by Nate Cerwinske knows the guys does everything in his control to perform, and already did massive PR's / unofficial WR training
On Hampton’s IG story is video of him cleanly snatching 134 kg. in the training hall. So there’s more in the tank. He’s also C&J around 180 kg. in training.
I'd seen Morris lift in other competitions and thought he was good, that he had potential, but I never figured that he'd set a world record. Good for him, and I hope he continues breaking records.
@@jeffersonye7572 basically got the only American world record holder in the last 50 years training at Crunch fitness. He should be training at the Olympic Training Center or something
Newcomer to these videos, but I'm so glad that I got to see this. At 62 years old, I'm just starting to lift heavy. I can appreciate this sooo much. 🏋🏼♂️👍
What an absolute dog. I knew he had it to compete at this level but to see a world record shocked me. So freakin excited. Congrats Hampton, lets go USA!!!
Wow I really enjoyed watching this young man do so well in the clean and jerk. So many weightlifters in this comp have bombed out missing their chance to complete in the Olympics in Paris . This cleans his first lift with amazing power , then a slight elbow wabble lost him the lift ,which he stabilised beautify. To return to the platform with suitable lockout for the next much heavier lifts ,What ! and not to mention a 61kg man lifting 176 kgs above his head, with ease Wow . I would like to see Lasha do that ( and don't get me wrong Lasha is my favourite weightlifter) I am educating my self to consider the smaller men which I was once myself.
Wow what a lift!! All I saw was American world record and weightlifting and stopped everything to check it out. I already was thinking don’t the Chinese have the WR? Now it’s Hampton and the USA!! Excellent stuff 🤘🏽
He actually set THREE world records with TWO lifts. One Junior WR in the C&J and then both a Junior AND Senior WR in the C&J! Holy Cow!! According to "Weightlifting - Progression of World records", Bob Bednarski was the last USA lifter to set a WR (he actually set two World Records in 1969. One in the press and one in the C&J). Joe Dube set two World Records in the press in 1968.
What is impressive is those lifts look a bit raw still. As he gets more experience and some more mature muscle he is bound to take down a few more records. Impressive.
This video nicely encapsulates what is great and awful about oly lifting- the "press out" no lift at the start is beyond stupid, but the record setting lift is so impressive and amazing.
can someone explain to me how this event works? I would assume the people going into this already know how much they can and can't lift. So if your max is, say, 100lbs and they put 200lbs in front of you, then what's the point? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm genuinely curious.
176 kg = 388 lbs. Holy crap!!! The big guy's is 267 kg = 588.6 lbs. He's on 61 kg class, meaning he cant weigh over 134.5 lbs, Holy Crap!! So he lifted at least 2.88 times his own weight (depending on what he actually weighs).
Forgive my relative lack of knowledge here, but how can 176kg be a world record in the C&J at 61kg if Naim lifted 190kg in the 60kg class? Shouldn't a lower weight class lifter get the benefit of the higher class as well if his lift is heavier?
I remember seeing videos of this kid when he was super skinny taking that wide open mouth brace and thinking how goofy he looked. Nothing goofy about this kid’s strength! 🤯
User you are correct Fabin out totaled Hamp but don’t say Fabin didn’t “bother” Fabin tried and failed with 173 to increase his total world record. Fabin is still the better lifter because of his superhuman snatch but if he is off his snatches in Paris Hamp could make it very interesting.
