Hamza Yusuf and Suhaib Webb have a conversation in Arabic. I left out some parts either because I could not hear what they were saying, or it was small talk.
@@virtuesignal3935 because especially these two amazing western scholars I appreciate that they are well versed in Arabic, unlike many people in westerners in Islam don’t even know the basics of Arabic but somehow call them “scholars”. May Allah make us all master and be proficient in Arabic so we can be more in tune with our religion and use it against any stupid islamophobes that disrespect our deen
Alhamdulillah, the brother Suheib is very nice in the way he treats the community, i was once coming from the mission hill projects in Roxbury about to enter the subway station Roxbury crossing when i saw the glorious new islamic society of Boston finished being fully built, i went over to the masjid and was going through some bad trials and tribulations and found myself in need and so the good brother gave me 20 dollers, may Allah (swt) bless him Amin..
Could someone PLEASE push the pause button while I go hide someplace. These are English speaking brothers, reverts. In every way, Arabic fluency, knowledge of Islam, not to forget piety, they are eons ahead of most of us born Muslims, so called. Never did I dream in a million years that we'd see this day. Now how the 'Hell' do you top this? Hats off to you by honoured brothers, how fortunate we are to call you family. MASHALLAH!!!
Thanks for the text comments, I'm learning Arabic and it is so helpful to hear this and see the translation (plus what they say is interesting masha'allah)
MashAllah Shayk Hamza Yusuf has taken pains to study the Essence of the true Islam at an age where most teenagers think of partying and having fun--even the Muslims--These men r vital parts in our Lives--I have heard bro Webb--He too is so Alhamdullulah--it puts us born Muslims to shame-the love they show Allah Rasool and Allahs creation
May Allah bless them & guide them and all our youth to the best on this straight path... All humanity is on one ship.. be responsible for yourself and others..
I missed to see sheikh Shuaib Webb physically, by the time I moved to Boston 🇺🇸 he had already moved to a different state may Allah preserve him for us mashaa Allah
@m00chu "free mixing?" Women have been a part of important debates and issues of islam since the time of the Prophet (pbuh). This is a discussion between scholars and students. Women happen to be involved, fully covered and all are using proper manners. What is the problem?
To all: If you do not agree with these brothers, make dua for them first then ask yourself how much good are you personally doing for this deen? Unless it exceeds theirs then you should frighten with yourself for passing these judgements. Only Allah is Al-Malik, none of you so I advise that we become more watchful of our tongues especially if you are not a scholar. May Allah forgive us all.
@computinggit Masha'allah well said. I totally agree with u. ''Anything which is against Hadith and Quran and the Way of the sahaba should be rejected. This is the deen of Islam.''
@saeed1602 this is an excerpt from an entire show in which these two women hosted. Thus, not an "uneccessary situation." Also, these men are talking and discussing the issues of women in islam. I think women are necessary in the discussion the issues of.... women in islam. jazakallah khair and salaam alaikum
If this is televised from an Arab country for Dawah purposes then it should have at least a language like English captions of translation showing on the video . PS: So good to see our two, much loved & respected Scholars of the SF Bay Area, speaking in Arabic MashaAllah 👍🏻🌹💫
Thanks so much for the subtitles! Quick question, however -- which dialect(s) of Arabic are being spoken here? I can assume that Suhaib is speaking an Egyptian dialect, being an Al-Azhar student and all.... But is Hamza also speaking the same dialect? The women on the panel? Thanks...
Actually this is fusha/ Modern Standard Arabic. I’ve been a fusha student for two years and some change now and I can understand between 60-80% of what they’re saying - if it was Egyptian I wouldn’t be able to understand really any of it.
@superkugeta Hi. Ibn Tufail has a book, titled "Hay Ibn Ya1dan" it is translated to "Improvement of Human Reason" and Avicenna had written a romantic novel with the same name. Since Sufism is nothing but an inner dedication to God, it is not an actual declaration, instead, it is a philosophy. Avicenna's theory of epistemology clearly has many hints same for his theological writings. Ibn Tufail is very much like Avicenna, and if you read the book I mentioned you will see it yourself. Peace
I read the article. Yes there are a few iffy things, but this comes down to acceptable differences in fiqh. His statements were bold but true. In the west we dont need Imams that specialize in takfeer - we need Imams who can connect to the youth of western culture. Everyone is going to make mistakes here or there, no ones perfect. However the core of what he is saying, 99% of the Muslim scholars (not just daiya or imam) agree with anyway, minus the few references to rap of course :P
@nutral100 You are right, all one has to do is study "non-Islamic" history to figure that one out. Polymaths such as Ibn Tufayl, Ibn Sina (Avicenna) Ibn Rushid (Averroes) were all Sufis. Most muslims now ignore history and just go after mainstream easy media.

The funniest thing is that for most non-Arabic speakers to learn Arabic, Muslim-based cultural traditions and history they have to go to religious institutes such as Al Azhar who all have their own agendas
9:33 -- "In the end, this is stupidity. And people will find out the reality of this... if they don't realize it in their lives, they will find out after their departures."
masha'allah. V important advice from Suhaib Webb about bridging the gap between the youth and the scholars. But i'm curious, why are there women in this video?? lol. Is there any need for them to be there? Wat happened to 'Lower your gaze and guard your modesty'. With all due respect, it's a bit of an ''unnecessary situation'', with the two women sitting there, next to Suhaib Webb and Hamza Yusuf. Salaamu'alaikum.
2 scholars of Islam having a conversation and look at the comments of anonym Muslims. SubhanAllah. Judging them, doing takfir, calling then mubtadi, deviant. You are displaying your arrogance so badly. The internet surely pours out what really is in the heart of people. You wouldnt say any of this infront of them. To sincere Muslims, it is very clear who the deviants are and who not. I am dust under their shoes
i cant even understand why people cant accept that there are people on this plantet that know more than themselfes haha we dont knw who these women are maybe their wifes maybe their cousins we dont know yet people judging ... i read comments where people judging aqeedah as if they can see in their hearts ... this is so sad ... really ... like sheikh hamza ra. said ... " go and mind your own business "
no but i really want to see his wife... i've been doing TONS of research and can't see or hear from her anywhere... i want to know what type of person she is. what she looks like, talks like... everything. i want to be like her. :o)
Sufism are the way that man to be close to Allah. It teach man to purifier they their thinking, cleanse their heart, to be patience when bad thing happen and Allah is watching and hearing to act what we do.
@21ppppp Yes bro. 'Aisha (radiAllaahu anha) the wife of the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) did teach the sahaaba (radiAllaahu anhum) Behind a Veil! Not like this ^, within a meter's touching distance of each other, smiling at each other n all sorts, and talking about islaam! lol May Allah guide us.
Subhan-Allah.! Suhaib Webb and Hamza Yusuf are sitting with women? Suhaib Webb isn't even trying to lower his gaze, nor are the females, both parties are looking at each other without the slightest bit inclination to look away... Smh... There is no defense for this, if so, bring it forth..
@sabelilah "KAFIR! PEOPLE OF BIDDA!" brother..listen to Allah SWT verse..: [4:94] Sahih International O you who have believed, when you go forth [to fight] in the cause of Allah, investigate; and do not say to one who gives you [a greeting of] peace "You are not a believer," aspiring for the goods of worldly life; for with Allah are many acquisitions. You [yourselves] were like that before; then Allah conferred His favor upon you, so investigate. ..
Lots of ignorant comments here about men, woman sitting together. Nothing wrong here. Lowering gaze is only when you feel a fitnah, be it woman, man, watching t.v., seeing pictures, etc. This would not apply in normal conversation unless you feel this fitnah then really you shouldn't even carry on the conversation. Here the men and woman are talking, dressed modestly and sat on separate sofas. They are avoiding unnecessary eye contact. This is good acceptable Islamic behaviour.
@nutral100 - The sufism of the past is NOT the same as the destructive tareeqah's of todays with their pantheist ideals. There is no fana in Islam for example and all other vile practises that have been introduced under the label of tasawwuf.
2 of the most deviant speakers today...wasnt always like this...hamza used to have good aqeedah and preach kilafah in the 90s but then changed into a puppet. Suhaib also had ok aqeedah but then turned into this self styled gangster sheikh who has some extremely evil and bad aqeedah. Goes to show no muslim inhabitants in the lands of kufr are safe and the only refuge is Allah swt and holding strong to his deen. We seek refuge in Allah swt from ever being in this state.
2ndT0M3h Dont be a fool. What are you, a mufti? Eh?.. No I didnt think so. These people have quiet probably studied more than you probably ever will. Remain quiet with your stupidity. My words are harsh, I apologize. But they are needed.
+Youssef lannister u defiantly responded to the original comment a lot better then I would have. may Allah swt bless u. on the other hand, the commenter above is absolutely ignorant of the teaching of the Quran and the seerah of Our Prophet PBUH. I don't even have good words for those who call ppl like Shaikh Hamza a kafir and so on while these ppl stand strong and defend Islam. but these other ppl who are commenting on UTUBE negative things and are going astray. may Allah have mercy on their souls.
