Yes! Validation of a childhood fear that I overcame. When I was a kid, we visited Plymouth Plantation in Plymouth MA, USA. The men's room in the snack bar had a push button classic model dryer. It made an awful growl-like noise, which creeped me out as it shut down...maybe the motor was loose in the unit. My dad couldn't understand why I became scared of them. A few years later, we're on a road trip to Burlington VT, and stopped at a chalet rest area with a lookout view in the building. In that men's room were two different ones. The one near the door was an American Dryer, which I had remembered from prior trips. The other one was an all aluminum boxy looking push button thing that looked like it came out of Roblox or Minecraft. I took one look at it, and my heart was in my throat. The rest area isn't there anymore, and my memory has faded, so I couldn't tell you the brand. I wouldn't be surprised if that one was from Excel, since those are made one state over in MA
Addvents do give off an unpleasant sound, don't they? I haven't run across one stateside as yet. If I could afford the electricity bill, and could get my landlord's permission to rewire, I'd definitely want a Dyson Airblade...they're cool!
I think it's this particular model of hand dryer that has an unpleasant sound, Iv'e seen alot of these types hand dryers and most of these sounded awful.

Those weak sauce warm air hand dryers suck and make paper towels a more sound option. Dyson Airblades, Jet Towels, and Xelerators keeps me away from the paper towels.
