Great video! I just bought two cheap sprayers similar to this today, bought the second just as a spare really. Literally watched the video then made the mods straight away - seems to work! I just stuck some chemical guys shampoo in and it definitely foams it up 👍🏻
From one Craig to another....top job buddy 😉 Mine is still working well too. Infact I have alkaline tfr in it at the moment & it disent seem to effect its performance at all. Quite remarkable considering it was a cheap sprayer lol Thanks for the comment buddy
I might make this with my bigger weed sprayer. You can convert them as a compressor for mountain bikes lol. Cheep and cheerful and use for everything, and now will be used for pre wash 👍 Enjoying the videos I’ve seen so far. Keep it up
Hi Craig Great video thanks so much so found a cheap pump spray in pound land for £1.50 not quite as good as your one but thought worth a punt, and works great thanks to your guide. Love the videos stay safe
This is gonna work like a dream for me. Power washer at work is shagged out to buggery and the boss hasn’t had it serviced. Washing a car by hand is a bastard of a time
I tried with a bigger sprayer, one with a hose. It keeps alternating between nice foam and escaping air, like the sprayer is breathing. But I tested with soap, I'll try some thicker shampoo liquid later. So far so good.
Glad it's kind of working for you buddy. I think the alternating might be fluid passing in front of the hole in the pick up tube possibly disrupting air flow temporarily!! Well that's my theory anyway lol. Thanks for commenting buddy
I bought 3 of these. 2 I adapted for foam, one I kept for clear water. I have to wash my car on the street and can't run a hose to my car. I washed my entire car like this, ClayBar and wax. Takes a little time, but well worth the video. Thank you
@@craigwhitehousedetailing5797 it's a nightmare of a job, but needs must. I actually adapted a large 20ltr sprayer which actually takes up a lot of work.
Maybe take a look at the Worx Hydroshot cordless jetwash lance. It’s been a game changer for me washing my articulated lorry without access to water. I use it in combination with a 20 litre jerry can of water. More than enough to rinse your car. I’ve not tried it but you can attach a foam bottle to it too.
@@mrbabajidee3133 , I've been looking for something suitable for exactly that purpose, however the issue I'm having is the actual fan of the nozzle !! I just cant seem to get a wide enough spray pattern 🙄 I'll keep looking & see what I can come up with 😉 Maybe a wide tipped fan nozzle from a knapsack sprayer could be adapted 🤔
@@craigwhitehousedetailing5797 definitely, I’m doing it now😂 saves all the mess from a proper snowfoam cannon!! Some customers I have only have small driveways so it’s hard to not get it on their windows etc at times so this will be so much more handy!!
@@gsmini1749 yes it comes in useful at times like that. I mainly use mine with citrus pre wash for in the wheel arches & heavily soiled areas that need a little extra chemical attention lol. Have fun with it
@@craigwhitehousedetailing5797 definitely Mate, yeh good idea that’s what I usually do like!! Usually spray my citrus pre wash on with a pump sprayer then just stick snowfoam over the top!! For the heavily soiled cars😂 thanks man I will👍🏻😃
Saw this exact sprayer for £3 wondered whether or not to get it, after seeing this video I've just ordered it il try it out tomorrow, worst case scenario I've only lost £3 👍
Very true buddy, but the process can also be reversed if you dont like it !! Just remove the material from the tip & put a,piece of tape over the hole in the pick up tube 😉
I havent experienced any noticable reduction in the duration of the stream compared to other unmodified bottles. The pressure inside the bottle should remain the same, but in theory because if the extra air being forced into the mixture it may reduce the length of time between re pressuring, but nothing to its detriment
Yes to make foam you need the solution and air. If you dont add the holes you dont get the air. Also shaking the bottle before spraying also helps increase the foam.
What I will say at this point is if it is a fire extinguisher did you have any ideas on how you might be able to Jerry right a hose to it? Ideas please thank you
To be honest I have never taken a fire extinguisher apart, however I'd it has an internal plunger/suction tube to pressurise the device then the principle should in theory be the same
@@craigwhitehousedetailing5797 the follwing video is similar to how it works : so my question is is it not basically a soda syphon: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EuUM9V5_j88.html and do you have any ideas how you could jerry ring it to have a hose
Yes you can use any pre wash solution in a bottle without modification. The only difference with a modified bottle is it creates a foam that will cling to the surface longer. Just remember to dilute the pre wash according to the manufacturer's instructions & you will be fine
I've had two of these spring a leak from the bottom once under pressure. I've given up buying new ones, I bought myself a foam cannon and cheap pressure washer.
Yeah some of the cheaper plastic sprayers arent too resistant to chemicals sadly. Luckily I use a lot of ph neutral products, so the bottles seem to last ok.....well so far anyway 😂 Luckily they're cheap
@@craigwhitehousedetailing5797 Both were brand new, first use. Both split at the crease of the feet. They're cheap but it's not cheap when keep they failing
@@crazyprayingmantis5596 sounds like you had some bad luck there buddy. You've got your foam lance now though which is far superior if you want to cover the entire vehicle
Honest answer....not sure lol. Providing it has the same physical working components I don't see why not. Must admit I've never tried it on a 5ltr sprayer though. I would imagine 2 holes in the air tube might introduce too much air & might result in a loss of pressure or over aerate the mix. Sorry I can't be more help buddy, but if you attempt it please let me know how you get on 😉
You seem to understand engineer ing stuff if you wanted to foam something very small you could theoretically make a soda syphon into a foamer? Ideas please thank you
@@craigwhitehousedetailing5797 @Craig Whitehouse Detailing I mean if I was unclear I looked at a video how a fire extinguisher works and basically a small water fire extinguisher is almost a soda syphon here seem to be an example though we wonder it it is till possible to put a hole in the pick up tube : here is the example It basically seem to be descrbing a soda syphon do you not agree ? : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EuUM9V5_j88.html ( Note this may be how the small ones work larger units work differntly) so my question is I do you not think I could make this into a mini foam fire exinguisher If I was to put in it water and a special foaming soap desigined for puting out fires ? thoughts please thank you as I said if the video explains how the fire extinguishers is it not theoretically the soda syphon?
I bought pump exactly like this but I`m dissapointed - jet is weak and short lived...had to reduce cloth length inside nozzle or only thick foam drips out without strenght
Didnt work for me at all , my sprayer started leaking from the tip as soon as i pump it with air, i punchered the tube with needle so any idea how to stop the leak?
It was a cheap generic pump sprayer from a bargain style shop. Fairly sure it was only a couple of pound. This will work with any pump sprayer with the same style nozzle
@@Sameer-tw2nh I'm sure their will be yes. Essentially you need something that fluid can pass through without obstruction, but capable of causing turbulence. Maybe a small amount of fine wire wool would work, but obviously using this may require frequent changing due to corrosion potential
@@Sameer-tw2nh are you in the UK ?? There are plenty of places that sell them for around £2-£5 depending on quality. B&Q, Wilkinson's & Poundland spring instantly to mind
Hi In case you did not get my email I said does the whole have to be made above the water / soap level in order for it to work properly thoughts please thank you! ps if its less than an inch is it a problem? thoughts please thank you!
Hi buddy. No email as yet I'm afraid. The hole is to allow a small amount of air into the mixture as its drawn up the suction tube. In turn this starts the 'turbulance' process. The reason I have it so close to the head of the sprayer is so it isnt submerged in liquid during operation, ensuring adequate air can be drawn into your solution. I hope this explains
@@craigwhitehousedetailing5797 @Craig Whitehouse Detailing thank you for help the email I meant to send said the same thing my question is if it less than an inch from the top will it be a problem? and does it need to be above/ the water soap level? ideas please thank you!
@@Fredengle I suppose you could say its compressed air, but not in the literal sence. The bottle creates positive pressure due to the pumping action. The small hole in the pick up tube simply introduces air into the pressurised bottle to start the turbulence cycle
@@craigwhitehousedetailing5797 but that debated : more the important questipn I got did you say the hole needs to be above the water soap level ? ps did you know that some compressed air foam fire extingusihers are maded by filling a water fire extinguisher with something like water and dish soap or other chemcial than you drill a hole in the tube above the water/ soap level and when it comes out of the unit it will have expanded !!! here is an example : you might find this interesting it a fire extinguisher upgrade : send-the-water.blogspot.com/2014/04/cafs-pressurized-water-extinguisher.html( but of course since its a fire protection device its only best it be done by people who understand what they are doing ) as for ( me well I have researched fire equipment for years though I have trouble finding people who can explain to me the enegineer concepts of how certain things work !!!! ( so I plan to make the reseacrh a life long thing !!!) ( I wanted to major in fire protection engineering but I had trouble taking classes I also spoke with a former firefirefighter anda friend of his they agree it seems they did not like the way the rules were being made so I am glad I did not major in fire protection I am emplyoed by a grocery store but really like fire equipement ) as previously stated though you said the hole must be above the water/ soap level is tha correct? ( I try to speak with as many people as possible to make sure I understand what I am doing !)
Sorry there is no comparison between a K2 and this made up sprayer especially if you Valet cars were time is the essence. Suppose its ok if its for a one off with a tight budget.
I agree buddy, that's why in every other video I use my Nilfisk with a snow lance. It's perfect for adding extra chemical for when your brushing out grills & tight areas though, as well as foaming wheels, tyres & arches. Foaming pump sprayers are expensive, so thought I would offer a simple, effective but cheaper alternative
Without a doubt buddy, but it's great for when you need to foam wheels, or maybe grills & gaps. I still use this exact bottle with a citrus pre wash for wheel arch liners
@@craigwhitehousedetailing5797 yeh can see it be useful for someone who didn't have access to a external tap and pressure washer. Be good to take a jetwash to foam bottom of car or wheels etc then jetwash it
I agree buddy, it isnt in the same league as the IK....but. When you 1st starting out & budgets are limited it offers a good insight into what is possible with certain equipment. In fairness I still use this bottle weekly with apc & it's been trouble free all this time
