Hey folks! We've been sitting on this one for a little while because it's one of our absolute favourite covers from the new record 'Focus' (link above). It's not true to say that there are songs we put less effort into, but there are definitely some like this one that really push us as musicians and make us feel like we've accomplished something really good when they're finished.
With this cover of Hand In My Pocket by Alan's Morisette, we've taken on a slightly unusual fingerpicking pattern lifted straight from the acoustic version of the song that was included on the special edition of Jagged Little Pill (the album it lived on). It's a beautifully arranged bit of choonage that deviates slightly from the original chords and...
... sorry I'm boring myself.
The real story here is that Soph finally plucked up the courage to play harmonica - yay! It would have been the easiest thing in the world to leave the harp part to me as usual, but Alan's would be rightly disappointed in us if we did that, so after a quick crash course in breathing in and out at the right times, Soph flipping nailed it - so proud!!
In other news, drone still isn't back yet, and we totally need it for this Sunday. Pretty tense!!! Oh, and the podcast episode we recorded with JohnPaulMusic is now up at • How Do You Loop? - @T... ... astonishingly, we actually sound like we have the figgiest idea what we're talking about, which is testament to his great editing. Thanks a million for having us, JP, and apologies to all our new friends for not having posted a loop cover in flipping ages... the algorithm is a cruel and demanding mistress!!
