I used to think that this music was composed by angels and is sung in heaven when I was growing up. Hallelujah is a Masterpiece. At 65yrs still chrish this
It was a gift from God. He had been writing operas for his own glory, then one night he decided to tell the Lord, I will write music for you. He was hit with such a bolt of inspiration that he composed the entire Messiah, in record time. He was composing so fast that an actual copiest could not have copied the music as fast as he was composing it. When the Messiah composition seems too good to be composed by a mere human, maybe there's a reason!
Isaiah, chapter 40, verse 5 - And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
In this temporary world, seeing God is not like seeing humans. Now look at the nature, look at the birds in the sky, the sun, and the life in the sea, it all doesn't just happen. There is God who created and maintains it. And now it's about Händel. Without God, he would not only have been impossible to create an oratorio, but also impossible to read the scale. Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, they all know that music is to glorify God. But many atheist musicians are good at creating songs, so is this proof that God does not exist? No at all! You all know what? An atheist is a religious person, they have a religion, an atheists unconsciously worship a god who is themselves because they satisfying themselves with a believe that there's no God. They serve a god who is not actually GOD. In the end, may God grant you faith. Everyone in this world is sinful. They must perish eternally in hell. However, Christ atoned for the sins. Believe in Christ as your Lord and Savior, and you will receive the grace of eternal life with God from today, until heaven. ❤
I’ve sang in the bass section many times, first time at 17 yrs old. I realized I’ve memorized many of the pieces, like this one, singing the bass part without the book. The biggest group I’ve joined was 300 singers and orchestra. Just awesone and blessed to have done it many times.
What a magnificent celebration of the power of The Messiah. Handel had to have the essence of the wonder and power of our creator when he composed this musical materpiece.
It was an incredibly inspired composition. Look up the story of it! It's so cool. He wrote the piece at an incredible speed because, it seems, God himself gave Handle the energy and vision to do it in record time. And this was after a rather unsuccessful past of writing operas!

I recommend any Christian to watch "The Sermon on the Mount" it's on RU-vid from the beautiful movie of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior called Jesus of Nazareth. It's so beautiful and I promise so true and powerful.
Very lovely, crisp and lively. I can't fault it. One thing - I was brought up with and still greatly enjoy, ringing perhaps somewhat more ponderously in my ears, the massed battalions of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus under the direction of the curmudgeonly Sir Thomas Beecham, and, you know what? Although I can hear this choir singing beautifully in perfect English, I can hear (especially every time they sing the word Glory, which is often!) that it is not their native tongue. Rather charming.
I would like to hear the Brussels Choral Society perform the entire oratorio. I enjoyed this performance more than others I have heard sung in "Brooklyn-ese" or with a "Texas twang". I wonder, would German audiences have the same trouble listening to native English speakers performing Wagner?
