It seems to us that ALL types of baby birds who get fed by their parents have the SAME begging posture: we see it in our garden all the time with all kinds of species, and the posture is the same as that exhibited here (VERY cute). Have you noticed that?
how could you tell them apart? you are really good. i have lovebirds at home too, and they had babies a several times. They usu. have 4-5 babies, around 3 dutch blues, a seagreen and a slate. I can never tell with dutch blue is which. Do you have any tricks?
so we totally separate them from parents after 14 days? mind just got hatched yesterday... and also we don't do anything to the baby birds before 14 days?
@Darkraht You could do it, but is going to be very hard since the chicks are still to fragile and require more food servings, a good age to start hand feeding them is when they are from three to four weeks old
What formula do you feed them and how many times in a day? I'm currently hand feeding a month old fischer it doesn't eat much,so I just feed it so its stomach won't be empty , it doesn't chirp either. I'm feeding it Cerelac since it's what breeders feed and it's what I used to feed lovebirds back then. They were as responsive as your birds when it came to feeding time so I'm becoming concerned with the fischer. I'd be really grateful if you have any tips.
my love birds have 4 chicks and my bugies have 5. i wish i got that kind of time to hand feed them chicks so they will be easily tame. for now i let the parents do the feeding. all the chicks are looking very healthy. parents are doing a great job on their part, even though i did lost one of the bugie chick. i think the dead chick was due to being tremble on all the time by the older chicks. dead chick was the last born. very tiny compare to the older ones.
Hi..I am getting a 4 week old baby lovebird tomorrow. First time I am hand feeding. I have the same syringe you are using. Is one full syringe the correct amount of formula to be given? (three times a day?) I want to get this right...and the breeder doesn't speak much English :-( Thank you for ANY help or advice you can give me.
@superchenar1 any baby parrot formula in a pet store could do, I use exact hand feeding formula, because it is easier to conver them later to the exact pellet food when they get to the right age
How many time a day do you feed them? and at what age are they weaned? and do you have to put them under a heat lamp after they are removed from their parents? and I assume they are kept separate from the parents after they are removed? I'm a first timer with breeding love birds, so I would appreciate any advice you could give, if i leave the babies with the parents to raise, will they be easy to tame, and will the parents care for them right up till they are weaned? I'm leaning more towards hand feeding, but just need to know some info. anyways on how much care they will get from their parents, if i do leave one or more with the parents.
can you leave them with their mom i am breeding it is gonna be so cool for me becauese i am 9 but my mom said she will keep 1 baby to see if they turn out to be good chicks

have you by chance done a review of this video, you kept passing over the youngest one....and the older birds were stealing food out of his mouth.....that's just how I saw it, maybe you fed him before the video....
good morning i am new to my bird lol, and she is laying eggs (she, (peanut) is alone. peanut has laid 5 eggs so far and i am worried about vitamin, she only eats seeds, could u help me out?
Weaning means he eats totally on his own. If he is then you do not have to hand feed him. Put him in his own cage, the parents are telling him to go. Blood washes off so do it lightly with warm, not hot water. If you can not afford a vet, then you should not be breeding. ~Rodney
