Cant wait to see a new video from you maybe apex ultra in the future. Or do a knife of your own dream design and steel. You know how much i love my blades from you. The chef knife in magnacut is one hell of a user. Samme with the two outdoor blades in 80crv2 and magnacut i love em too. The blades just wont dull
Definitely dig this handle shape, of all the knives I own and have handled I prefer this exact shape right here! It has a bit of a Peter Kohler of Dark Timber Knives influence it seems as my Bark river 3V CUB has an almost identical handle shape.... About the most comfortable and useful shape you can get on any blade!
@@AaronJohnson1979 right on, I believe my Bark River CUB is a little over 10in in fact I will send you a picture of it on msgr so that you can see what I was talking about brother... It has to be my favorite handle shape for most any fixed blade that is over 9in atleast....
One day I will get my dream blade which you have already made, one of them competition/blade-sports choppers with some purple heartwood scales (not only is the stuff beautiful but being a disabled combat veteran it only seems right or fitting) now if I could choose the steel I would go with any one of 3 options in order from best to worst first choice would be a toss-up of 4V or your heat treated magnacut because as myself and knife of Norway has proven your magnacut is some incredible stuff and 2nd choice would be a 520100 or 80crv2-5160 something along those lines....
@@AaronJohnson1979 hmmm, I have not seen them yet damnit Aaron now I'm going to have to look it up and I'm sure that will result in another charge on my credit card hahaha
1075 Can be water quenched especially if you put Hamon line clay over it. It’s a good steel for a simple set up you can get good results and super tough
@@dimmacommunication I had about a 50% failure rate quenching in water before I got Parks 50. I could probably do it and have success and make a video but it would be misleading I would only make a video if I could have a higher success rate doing it I don’t know how the Japanese quench in water all the time with such high success especially swords. If you want to try to master water quench make a A salt warm water dish soap mix & get some clay from Pops knife supply. Maybe use Steel‘s like W-2, white paper steels, and even 26c3. They will do the best in a water quench. The 10x Family of steals can be used in water but they’re more in the fast oil family.
Had a few handle failures in the past with battoning large rounds and other abusive tests 🫣 started using G-flex about two years ago and no issues at all 👍btw, sometimes you tread the grapes sometimes you drink the wine 😁all the best Lincoln 🤙👍
Lol sometimes you drink the wine, Sometimes the wine drinks you. I’ve had JB Weld failed twice now on an older set of handles, But never had a failure with G flex even when I probably should have a failure the G flex holds up
@@harwoodblades3633 Yeah you’re pretty good man you got a nice grinder and the Damascus is really good that you’re making good job better then I can do. I’m subscribed to your channel already now I’ll get notified when you get a new video up I hit the bell lol
@@AaronJohnson1979 biggest game changer for me with the Damascus is don't use borax but dip the billet in paraffin 😉 haven't room for a press so I set the weld with a 14lb hammer on a railway track anvil..lot of work but the results are worth it.. grinder is home made with a 3 hp cement mixer motor 🤙👍
