That flying is a good idea,I was thinking about that because of what you mentioned about fly fishing. My thoughts where flying for running line,and put whatever line you need for the leader line for the Species you're fishing for.

Yeah, fly line works well, especially the running line you get for salmon/steelhead.

No rod to absorb shock, only your arm to absorb shock. So, heavy line is needed. Makes sense.

Yup, pretty much. Only mono has a lot of stretch so it does absorb some of the shock. So, you have to know how much stretch that line can take; you'll figure that out quick!

What are your opinion on line types? Fluoro mono braid?

Well, it depends on the application. For handlines thick heavy mono. Braid it too dangerous for your hands on a handline. For fly fishing braid for backing. Fluoro I don't have a preference for it really. Also heavy fly line is good for planer boards. So fit the line to the application, whatever the best tool for the job at hand.
