Dave handles spiders better than some RU-vidrs with millions of subscribers. They want the spiders to act defensive to dramatize it and bring in more viewers.

Absolutely love the way you handled these spiders. I've seen so many keepers - some very popular ones, actually - poke and prod their spiders while rehousing. I strongly believe that the one thing missing with many, many keepers, is 'respect' for the animal. Frankly, even though they may know a lot about them, they have no respect for the animal itself. But on the other hand, you do. Not only are you a wealth of knowledge, but you also respect them for what they are as a species and understand their behavior thereby allowing them to be the unique individuals that they are.

The Bible book of Genesis, describes the intended relationship between man and the rest of creation. (It's variously translated variously as subjection, ruler-ship, and dominion.) I appreciate how patient you are with the spiders. Every other RU-vidr I have watched who rehouse their spiders are pushing their spiders towards their new enclosure, seemingly not allowing the spider to release their grip on the surfaces. Also, thank you for the great tip about maintaining contact while directing them! I will remember this for when I need to rehouse my own tarantulas.

I have seen so many people that think they are gentle during a rehouse that actually are not gentile. They man-handle the enclosures or move too fast with the brush. And then the spider ends up kicking hairs. This is usually driven by them being impatient. You have to be very patient and gentle when rehousing. You are doing it at the spider's pace and not your pace.

Dave gives us ALL confidence, when it comes to rehousing. My Nelly molted Brachypelma emilia juvie has become rather flighty AND very fast. When she/he molts the next time, it WILL be the time for a new cage/enclosure! Spiders ARE pretty unpredictable in their way of moving, but there ARE things, that we can do. This is where Dave and his good wife come into the picture, with the No-stress-moving technique. Hugs from Copenhagen. 👋🙂

Dave, we can call you the "whisperer" or what not, but I think that would go against everything that you are saying here... You have simply shown us that by observation, and a little knowledge, some forward planning and accepting the fact that these creatures are unique, even to their species characteristics we all can have such outcomes when dealing with our beloved Spidey's... Am I not right?.. As I always say mate, you gave us another master class video of the how to's when interacting with our spiders, a Calibre of which is unmatched on RU-vid... Brother I can't help but say.. "we're not worthy, we're not worthy".😁🤣 Hahaha I love your work Dave, camera lady too. ❤️👍

He/she went straight into his first enclosure easy, and I did it just like you said, I kept contact and he just walked over. But now, he has a burrow and I'm a little worried about how to get him out. I'm watching you do it and it gives me a little confidence to know I can do it myself. I don't want my husband to help because this is my spider, and I want more, but if I'm afraid of it, he won't want me to get another one. I have a regular old curly hair, about 1.5 inch sling, maybe more if it's diagonal leg measurement, and I don't want to stress him or hurt him or scare him.

Hi Dave and Camera Lady 💙💕 hope you’re both doing well and having a lovely day. I sat on my sofa for the entirety of your video, hardly breathing, not moving, I was glued to my phone screen! For someone that’s not too fond of the house spider 🕷 I’m more respectful of the wee blighters now at the age of 56 😂 I’m fascinated, intrigued and misunderstood by my partner at why I enjoy watching them so much 😂 But it’s because of Yourself and Camera Lady, Bethany, Mr Grindler , Kat, Petko and Tarantula Guy sprouted this curiosity in me about your Hobby. This is another epic video from Ya’s today! Rammed full with new spiders 🕷🕷lovely looking females And they were all putty in your hands! And getting tickled by your magic paintbrush 😉 They were all very well behaved. Even the 1 that was named Fury… I think if she was dealt with any other way other than The Beastie Room way, She may have shown her aggressive attitude. I remember that video with one of your T’s running around your back and neck and your head really well 😂 😂 I’m really glad that you’re gonna do a Q&A 💙💕💙💕 Q1… Did Camera Lady share your love of spiders from the start of your relationship?? Q2… What’s the rarest/more expensive Tarantula/Tarantulas in your grand collection?? I want to thank you both for sharing another exceptional video with us all today again. I always look forward to seeing your next episode 🥰🥰 Take care and enjoy the rest of your evening and week ahead 💙💕🥰😘xxx

You are such a beautiful person! I'm so happy to see you be so gentle with the spiders. I have a three year old Grammostola Pulchra, her name is Legsi and she seems to be happiest when I leave her alone. She is very feisty and always remoddeling her home. She has become a lot faster since her last molt! I really see her as a person, she has so much character.

Hello Dave and Camera Lady. Wow, wow, wow! What a fabulous video! My favorite part of your channel is watching you handle your beasties. I swear they can feel your calm and respond in kind. Question 1: Are there specific behaviours that you watch for to tell if your spiders are healthy? If you do get a sick spider, can they be treated? Question 2: Are there any Metallica babies coming on soon? I would love to see some Metallica slings. They are one of my favorites along with the H. Maculata. Anyway, well done! Bravo! Have a great week. Stay safe and take care y’all. 🤠🙂💖

Hey Dave maybe you could send this vid to Tarantula Kat to be helpful. Before you react, consider what i'm saying. you're a pro at this, and the way you deal with these guys is really a level above most others. The aforementioned creator is often freaking out, panicking, and stressing the hell out of her spiders with her reactions. Considering they have a very finite life dependant upon their energy reserves, this would be a HUGE benefit to the animals. I know the community is all huggy and super positive and no one wants to admit anyone does anything wrong, but this would really be a huge help and would be really considerate to the welfare of the animals. I think the quality of their lives may be a bit more important than her emotions. I recognize you will probably dislike this comment, but i also know that you love these animals and care about them so it should be said.

I can't think of a better instructional video on dealing with rehousing all 3 types of Ts in a safe manner. Bravo ! My question to you is an easy one : When did you actually begin to keep Ts and other invertebrates ? Was it before the creation of the British Tarantula Society in the early/mid '80s or after ? Just curious. Stay safe and thanks for sharing :)

I am curious though Dave, when it comes to your terrestrial spiders i notice you generally dont use an enclosure with a door. I would think that would make it easier to move them over. Im sure there is a method to your madness but im curious as to why you use one type of enclosure vs another.

Thank you so much for this. I have a Versicolor Juvi, and WOW I was surprised at how fast she was! She did that zoom into and then RIGHT BACK OUT of her new enclosure XD Scared me to death, but she landed on my hand and for whatever reason... stopped spazzing, so I was able to maneuver her in easily after that, but my poor heart.. and probably hers, too! So I'm all for transferring T's without handling them when possible. It had been 25 years since I owned a Tarantula, and she's my first Arboreal T. I DID research... but apparently not quite enough, as the super zoom was a shocker, so time to do some more! Looking for info on taking care of the Juvies and Slings primarily, and I also have a Mexican redrump as well (got them at the same time), haven't seen him since I put him in, but I KNOW he can't get out, and I don't want to risk terrorizing or squishing him, or letting him get eaten by his own food, so I've been putting cricket legs in since I don't want to risk any live prey, not knowing if he's in pre-molt or something, plus he's SO tiny.

Dave you're my favorite guy to watch with these spiders. I don't own any, but like to browse every now and then because they're interesting, and yours is the best amongst all the other similar youtube channels. No purposefully antagonizing or releasing the spiders for clickbait views of re-catching them. You're calm demeanor and (british?) accent are just relaxing to watch and listen to. You're the Mr. Rogers or Bob Ross of the tarantula world.
