@@AndreBandarra1 As long as you are respecting 100% of the recipe and preparation methods, yes, you can say that it is authentic. You don't need to be in Japan to make authentic sushi.
I thought those were sugar, but wasn't 100% sure. At first they looked like salt, but no way would they do that to a waffle. MAYBE to a pretzel or some other savory dough (even then, that would be a lot of salt), but definitely not to a waffle. Then they looked a little like white chocolate, but that didn't make sense either and they didn't sound like chocolate. Had to be sugar. They must caramelize in the dough, at least on the outside... sounds so good.
The name is quite confusing, the waffle's recipe is from the district of Liège (French speaking side), and "Limburg" is the name of another district (Dutch speaking side). Also the Lion is the emblem of the Flemish side (Dutch), as the rooster is the emblem of the Walloon side (French). So here we have a Flemish company that makes Walloon waffles. ... Yup, Belgium is a bit complicated!
I think it's their own way of making a liege waffles. Now a days every thing has no exemptions u can experiment ur own type of waffles and the toppings are unlimited . I love how they made it in their own twist . Sooo yummy
@@wietsehellinx559 That. I respect the opinion of the main comment here but it's a bit weird to call it authentic when they don't do it the authentic way. You don't really need the "brand" of Belgian waffles to know that a waffle is tasty! Plus it would then make more sense for you to take creative liberty ! Not that you cannot do it with a Belgian waffle, of course. It's just that some people are gonna get triggered when they see you aren't doing it like you said you would...A bit like basically everything else when you think about it. Though i have to admit that it's great to see representation of such a tiny country over something so tasty hahaha
@@Shoupa it's like a Belgian would make fried rice and call it the authentic Malaysian way. But it won't taste anything like it bcs you just can't perfect it in that authentic way
These are suikerwafels and can be found all over Belgium. When I lived in Belgium I would follow my nose because their delicious scent would travel for blocks! The plain waffles were served with toppings such as cream, strawberries, chocolate and even Nutella. The suikerwafels don’t need toppings and are usually eaten just as they are.
Yeaa but anyways Asians don't eat this kinda food like crazy.. Like id get one these everyy two months ....tbh its been 6 months since ive last got a waffle... (thats why im watching this loool im craving waffles) ..And also majority ppl.. Me included almost never eat junk food (pringles doritos stuff like that... Also burgers and stuff) .. We eat these stuff as a treat 😊😊.so it doesn't really bother me
Thank you for the video. But tell me (there are no constituent ingredients) what kind of white dragees were added to the dough? Painfully interesting, please tell me. Warm greetings from the city of Khabarovsk!
its simply sugar. big rocks of sugar (belgian pearl sugar is the name), when the waffel is baked it gives a great textural difference, not just sweetens the dough.
A little text to indicate what is happening and what flavour each waffle was would have added greatly to this video , it’s a VERY long video with no sounds except the sounds of the kitchen.
Would be handy but I don't think I've ever seen them make a video with anything but a silent observer of processes with no subtitle or subtext. All videos are usually just kitchen/street noise and recording someone making their recipe like the recorder is not there.

I've never been to Belgium but I've eaten waffles from Germany I'm German and they look just like when my great-grandmother made them now if you've never been there how do you know what's authentic they're just taking a recipe and attempting to give them a taste of something they cannot get in their country he should not judge them by what authentic is if they're just trying to give him a taste from another country expand your palate that's what makes the world a great place
I bet you if I went to Belgium and made a video about Belgium waffles, people would still comment "That's not a real Belgium waffle!", as if there's somehow only one correct way.
@@Excludos it is a typical Belgian product from Liege to be exactly and yes it has it's specific recipe! Every Liege waffle is a waffle but not any waffle is a Liege waffle! And the recipe is also very different from Brussels waffles
@@blahkjboubblah9856 i dnt think it has to be specifically made in Belgium to be called authentic. If they used the same methods and same ingredients true to what was created in Belgium, only then it could be claimed to be authentic. Only those who know though can tell if it's made true to what's done in Belgium. Also there can be ppl in belgium who have their own spin and dont make it true to the traditional.
Hello, there is not such a thing as The belgian waffle. There is the waffle of Liège, gaufre de Liège and it looks like this one (it looks), and there is the waffle of Brussels, gaufre de Bruxelles, lighter, and the dough is liquid.
these look very nice. Tho it's always shocking to me, as a Belgian, the amount of toppings people put on waffles. We would eat these waffles without any additional topping. There's sugar in the waffle after all. The other well known waffle, has no sugar in the batter, and we like with a thin layer of powdered sugar. Sometimes I wonder if people still taste the waffle under all the chocolate, cream, fruits, ...
so what was the purpose of the almonds and peanuts in all this? I didn't even see those as a topping option, just asking, its a little weird watching them cooking that, put it in a container never to seen for the rest of the video
Right you are Pia, the waffle is so packed with sugar and fat that it doesn't need anything else, calories galore! Basically you could considere it as a quick lunch, at least that's how I see it, and I'm Belgian. And we like it plain, big time!
Ingredients : 375 g of flour 21 g of fresh yeast 135 g of milk 2 eggs 25 g brown sugar 5 g of salt 200 g soft butter 150 g of pearl sugar ---------- You can add a little cinnamon if you like. You can also replace the brown sugar with vanilla sugar.
Oddly enough, I think they were trying to get the other side of the waffle coated with the melted pearl sugar. That way they have it crystallize on both sides of the waffle.
why does it say authentic Belgian when it also says Korean streetfood I am so confused. Go to Belgium and ask an old lady for waffles then you get authentic Belgian waffles.
It means korean making authentic belgian waffles...whats so hard to comprehend? Belgian grannies make yeasted waffles and so do these koreans who use the same recipe..
You can make authentic anywhere. Just need to respect the recipes and ingredients . Old Lady in Belgium may have her own take that isn't traditional. and/or authentic.
Anyone know what were those big cubes added to the flour? And that brown stuff being spread on the waffle? And talk about stuff put on there,... holy heart attack, Batman, look at all the butter they pile on it!
