No matter how creative we are or how we visualize the finished piece in our head, if we don’t know the different techniques to create, execution will be weak. I’m most grateful to you Lel for teaching us ‘the correct techniques!’ I’m a much better artist because of you. Thank you so very much.

So kind Cathy.... Yes it's good to narrow down a method if you want to try and copy an artists style... Vincents was lots of small lines so then just try to work in the same way x x. Thanks do much for watching Cathy x

This was so fun to watch. My niece is graduating next Thursday from law school at Ole Miss. when she was a preteen she painted a Starry Night and it hangs in a bathroom on my brother’s ( her Dad) property. What I love about it is her take on the church steeple. It is long and skinny in her picture. The tree, clouds, hills and night sky are all there. I will have to ask her more about it when I see her next week What I love about Van Gogh is his artwork, to me, looks like anyone can do it. Only they didn’t do it, he did. Then once you really look at it you recognize each individual stroke means something and carries weight? AnnaGrace did hers and you did yours… both completely different but still a Starry Night… which made Van Gogh brilliant. Each Starry Night is individual and exceptional but not the original. That’s just cool!!! Thanks for allowing me to share this hour with y’all today!

Honestly Lisa I went into this just relaxing and having a bit of fun, I could never ever do the painting justice. However as I said if you kinda get it like the original when it comes to colours and sone movement then the eye recognises it. You could do this as I found if I didn't like a part I just changed it while the paint was wet..... I struggled with the trees.... 😂😂😂

Hello Lel and Martin, WOW!!! This is absolutely stunning! Lel, thank you so very much for doing a hand painted project. This is my current goal, so this project is perfect! Thank you for breaking things down and showing how it's done. I am always curious as to the technique. Your tutorial makes it easy. I think it is awesome that you extended the hand painted design onto the lamp stand as well. I bet this lamp, if you are selling it, will get snatched up quickly. Martin, I have not been saying it lately, but I always enjoy your music choices. They are fun! Thank you for all the hard, behind-the-scenes work that you do to bring this tutorial about. It is much appreciated. Hope you two are feeling better, recovered from your family outing. Have a great week. Hugs, Eve

You make me feel brave ! As I was watching this, for a brief moment, I thought " you should try this" please know it's taken 4 years to feel confident enough to mix colors - when I started painting 4 years ago during the pandemic the. idea of mixing colors was absolutely paralyzing. Then I started watching you and I felt encouraged to try. You are such an inspiration but more importantly an incredibly generous teacher This lamp is magical !
@MadebyMarley
@MadebyMarley Месяц назад
You should feel brave, treat it like a fun project. Don't over think it and don't worry about it. If it doesn't quite work out you are still learning often by even having a go helps you learn what not to do next time. More importantly it shows you all the things that went right. You don't need to show anyone just keep it quite till you get it the way you want it. The good thing is it's only a light shade if there are parts you don't love paint them out and re do them and you can do this over and over till you are happy...... You have got this, you can do it.....

Well Lel, unless I am going to completely change my spots, or come across piece that I will never show anyone….. and be in the mood to completely waste my time lol except the dopamine rush……although you know those spots would be exuding stress vibes not dopamine….i will never be brave enough to do anything like this. It takes me int complete stress land just to try to blend a few colors let alone try to actually make a design. I have so completely bamboozled myself into believing that I cannot make anything looking better than a 2nd grader I’m just too cowardly! That’s why I have YOU! This was a pleasure watching you do this, your talent continues to astound me!. Thank you for a great start to my day!

You can do it fern, you truly can. You are just starting your journey, I will revisit where you are in a year from now and see if you feel the same ..... Its all about confidence. This lamp shade really was very simple just a lot of splashes dots and brush strokes.... You can do anything. I've seen what you have already achieved..... Just keep going and keep practicing it will all fall into place x x

Hey Fern, That carrying case could never have been done by a second grader. Neither could that knitting basket. Maybe you wouldn't start with Van Gogh, but something simpler. I've done two drawings, though did them years ago, and was amazed by how good they were You know why? I turned the images I was copying upside down Try it. I promise you'll be shocked by the result. I'd never drawn anything in my life before. I'm wondering now why I've never done it again. 🙄 I forget why it works. I think I got the idea from the book Drawing On the Right Side of the Brain ❤

I didn’t think I could be a nurse… but I signed up for it. I knew I could handle the personal side of it but was worried about the fast pace ER life and death in a moment kinda stuff. So I graduated and realized I was’t going to be the life and death nurse but what I could be was an intimate one on one kinda nurse. So I started on a regular floor and learned the craft by watching others. I decided in that space what I wanted to do. I went to the best university in the US for my chosen specialty. Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. My program director there wrote the textbook on continence nursing. So I learned from the best which gave me my foundation to be a Certified Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse. All I did for the next 26 years was issues of the human body concerning pee, pus and poop. There are only a few of us in this specialty. My point is I knew I wanted to teach… I knew pee, pus and poop did t bother me… I knew that if a person had just had the most horrible week of their life… a diagnosis of colon cancer waking up with a colostomy pouch… I could help. In the end it wasn’t that I was really good at it. It was that it didn’t embarrass me and I could sit next to that patient and explain in a way they could understand. My expertise was in the care of that specific patient and that need… one at a time… thousands of time over a career of 30+ years. If I made a difference for someone once or twice it was enough. You take your time, practice, watch the expert. You will get it because you are here… just where you need to be. We all have talent.

Lovely and lively! I’m so charmed by your rendition of Starry Night. Another inspiring project. Two questions: how does it look turned on? What does using a dark rag with wax do? Thank you! Love the music too ❤!
@MadebyMarley
@MadebyMarley Месяц назад
It was actually turned on in the photo but it's not easy to film it gives a lovely muted light through the shade and saturate the ceiling and floors with light.... Second yes you could dark wax it of course but remember that will slightly darken the colours just clear wax first x x
@toddylu6869
@toddylu6869 Месяц назад
If you have a dark painting and you wax it is best to use a dark cloth… you don’t want a light cloth because it could leave a light lint over the pint. Same is true for light colors you want to apply wax with a lighter colored cloth not a black t shirt. This what I thought you might be asking?

Sadly, Van Gogh never recieved any positive recognition for his paintings during his life time. He died a pauper. His brother, an art dealer, supported him, and his art. Presently, if sold at auction, this painting of Starry night is worth 70 - 100 Million dollars!!! ( 59,770,485. - 79,693,980. in pounds!) There was this amazing exhibition of his paintings that traveled the world called The Immersive Experience of Vincent Van Gogh a few years ago. Sadly, I missed it, but here is a link to that show where his paintings engulfed it's viewers >> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O_v1rNJvRbI.html Lel, when this video just began, I thought you had decoupaged the lamp shade. What a treat to watch you recreate this painting by hand. How absolutely delightful, and with a matching base. Will you be keeping this beauty for yourself, I would be hard pressed to sell it off... You did it again, something new and original, never a dull video from you. And Martyn that music finale was dynamic, showcasing her art so well. Hugs to my buddies, Sydni

Marty and I have been to the imersive vincent exhibition last year it was amazing..... Totally amazing. Like being in the paintings. Like most artists recognition came to late and he had such a hard life and struggled with his mental health. Like so many artists went a little mad..... Maybe I'm on the verge of madness already sydni.....😂 Glad you enjoyed this one, it's a little diffrent and a wee bit of inspiration for those who don't feel brave enough to give these things a go.
