You make it look so easy. I just turned 60 and bought myself a handpan. I recently discovered this instrument. So at 60 trying to get the hands working in rhythm again is a little challenging. Like patting your head and rubbing your Tummy at the same time...haha. I will get there. Practice, practice, practice. Love your videos. 😊
Thank you for your videos. I got my first handpan 3 weeks ago and your lessons have been perfect for me to learn and grow in my playing. Truly, thank you!
Awesome video! Thanks so much for this clear and easy place to start! I've watched it over and over again - stopping to practice each little piece! I'm still a disaster of coordination and counting, but I'm' getting closer! So helpful to have it broken down into smaller chunks of movements and end up with something fun to play! Thanks!
Thank you so much, this was the first time I was able to hold a steady rhythm and line and able to 'auto pilot' my hand on the bass line! Super Helpful - From Canada
Yes! I loved these - even though I'm playing a Dm Amara/Celtic so couldn't play along with you. I especially got into the 2nd pattern and added more to it. I found it helpful to keep the groove going with one hand while adding melodic embellishments with the other hand. (I'm brand new to this instrument but definitely not brand new to music.) Thanks, Amy!
Hello, I just got same Dm Amara/Celtic Handpan. Can you please share your experience - is it suitable with most tutorials on RU-vid or I need to find ones exactly for Dm Amara-Celtic? Thank you
@@nikita-shamrai Great that you've started on your handpan journey too! I'm finding that sometimes I just have to transpose tutorial videos so that I can play them (like with this video here), but you can also search specifically for tutorials on the Dm Amara-Celtic. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have been.
My wife and I just discovered your videos…at the perfect time in our early learning path. Thank you for such clear and inspiring content. Question about adding a drum with different tuning to compliment the Dm pair we have now. Which tunings might make sense to you (for playing simultaneously with a Dm). Thanks for any thoughts.
For playing at the same time as Dm, the easiest is F major as it has all the same notes. But it will also give you a nice different feel when played on its own. Glad you're enjoying the videos, thanks!
Im new to this, you use a mix of thumb, fingers, please do you have any which help you start... as im not getting the same sound as you.. I don't think im hitting the right part, is the centre, outer edge ?
Hi Amy Is this instrument D Kurd please let me know. Also if you publish a detailed video about the instruments you are using it would a great guide before any one purchase a handpan
Woww you really got in my ❤❤❤ on the 8:00-9:30 min was nagic patern can you teach another one that you play this obe abd show how to switch up the rythem ? ❤❤❤
I have a question which might be a dum one but still need to ask it 😅 Since my handpan is a specific one or If I may say a "No Name one with a different tones" I want to ask if it is ok for me to made up patterns that fits the tones or do I still need to learn them😅
How to make music only on improvisation? Tired to play by learned patterns. Where I can found rule of which note should go after before to make beautiful melody. Sorry for my English
@@AmyNaylorMusic I thought that's what I was hearing. I have a B Celtic Rav Drum. They make a digital handpan now. It's called a Neotone. Anyhow, thanks for posting this....sounds beautiful.
