The Handsling A1R0 EVO is a fast and smooth aero race bike with fully internal cables that is much cheaper than most mainstream bike brands. But is the performance as good as its rivals?

I like that they allow you to customize your handlebars, crank length, and wheels. I wish more bike makers would do that. And the price is pretty damn good too!

More great content thank you David. Fair play to Handsling for offering a great looking and performing bike that doesn’t require you to re-mortgage the family home to buy one! This just goes to show how much the big bike brands are talking the piss out of hard working consumers who want to enjoy the sport they love using modern equipment. I’m really enjoying your channel David, thanks again 👍

I really like hearing about some of these less known brands! Handsling look like they make some great bikes! Look forward to your views on the Vitus line up, They certainly look like great value on paper and they look nice too! Plus wiggle are usually a awesome company to deal with!

I've got one that is custom painted. It's absolutely epic. I've used it for racing and doing long rides. It's comfy, stiff, and aero. I've ridden a multitude of bikes over the last 37 years of racing, from Specialized to Bianchi and a ton in between (TVT, Giant, Ciocc, Colnago, Pinarello, Planet X, etc). The bike is surefooted, corners like it's on rails, and accelerates as fast as my legs manage to put the power down :). I even did some off-road riding on it the other day ;-). If anything the handling is reminiscent of my Specialized (as that felt surefooted as well). It's definitely more aero than the Propel that I had. Really, really, happy with the bike.

Thanks for introducing a brand that is well priced. In the days when many complain about bikes being too expensive. You brought us a good company that is fair.

Loving your work David! This is exactly the sort of bike I'm looking at upgrading to over the next 1-2 years (although I'd go with the Force option to get it back down below £5k!) and it'd be great to see you review some direct competition to this bike. Things like the Orro Venturi, Vitus ZX-1 etc. Cheers!

I have one of these bikes and I can attest to the brilliance of it. The bike is a dream to ride and the fact that it is built in this country makes it even more attractive. The confidence that the bike gives along with the amazing after sales is something you don’t get with the bigger brands. I heavily recommend this bike to anyone looking for a new one it is incredible and the best decision I have made. If you are looking for a new bike you would be hard pressed to find a better one even for £10,000.

Looks good and I really like how you can customise before buying. It is still more expensive than a few other similar bikes such as the Merida Reacto, Vitus ZX-1 EVO and maybe Orro and Dolan’s aero bikes though, at least for mech Ultegra. Any comparison with any of those? Shame there’s no 105 build too.

Hi Dave. Bit late to the party here. Enjoyed your review. Informative as always. One extra question. I ride a few sportives and quite a lot of weekend/holiday miles so endurance focused with comfort. Would you say the Handsling is as comfortable as say a BMC Roadmachine/Cannondale Synapse/Giant Defy using tubeless with 30/32 tyres?

I am always weary of the "cheaper" carbon bikes. It seems counterintuitive that I will be getting the same quality as the major brands. Then again, am I just a sucker for falling for the advertising, or am I really getting a better frame from the big boys? My Canyon Aeroad has a six year warranty while this bike is lifetime. I find that really interesting.

I had the same reservations when I bought my Stradalli 8 years ago. I’ve owned several “top” brand bikes including multiple Treks, Lemonds, Bottechia and Gary Fishers. To be honest my current bike is the best I’ve owned out of all of them. I’ll be looking at this brand hard with zero reservations.

A bike over £5k is affordable 😬? Just can't wrap my head around current bike prices. Serious question that perhaps someone can answer, why are they so expensive? Good motorbikes with so many moving parts are cheaper than this. The carbon can't be that expensive can it? Is it the electronic shifting? That being said that is one garish looking bike - wouldn't buy it with that design even it was cheaper. I'd love a new bike but prices for one are eye-watering.
@BigFudge87
@BigFudge87 3 года назад
The price is set by those who are willing to pay that much. If I look around in my local area 90% of the riders are recreational riders above the age of 50. The bicycle industy is so full of marketing bs. 99% of the people I see on the roads dont need lightweight since they have more than the actual bikeweight to lose. And they dont need aero since they dont even compete. A road bike is a complete luxory item. Just like a rolex. Thats where thr prices come from.
