I've said this before, when you do the hangar raising I'll put my hand up to help out! I think flying C-FMVU out from Toronto to your place would be a great adventure.
I had a good friend F'ing around trees and well.. It didn't end so well for him when he went into the tree well took us about and hour to find him and it was to late. Be careful please, mostly around trees.
Hey Trent, what’s the latest on Nick? After that crash, we donated a lot of money to a plane to be built and get him in the air again and haven’t seen anything on it other than the time y’all went and picked up a frame.
He’s been doing well. He’s been slowly chipping away at the plane build but it seems like he bit off a little more than he can chew with doing the wiring harnesses for Kitfox. What started as a fun little side job has been taking up all his time. I think he’s close to caught up on harnesses though so that should put him in high gear on the plane hopefully 🤞 I’m a little jealous that they announced the Rotax 916 which I’m sure is what nikk will end up going with
@@TrentonPalmer yeah, I saw that yesterday, that should be a pretty good beast of an engine. Thanks for the update, his Facebook has been pretty quiet, I figured he was pretty busy and hopefully he’s getting around good
Super glad to see y'all talk about avy safety on your way out. It's certainly not your job, but everything we do to communicate helps tick down the number of people dying in the backcountry every year. I left a comment about it on one of your previous videos and you gave a gracious reply; thank you for being a good steward of the outdoors and looking out for others.
I actually talked about it more but I it’s always hard decided what makes the cut when you’ve got 3hrs of riding and talking footage to cut down. We definitely take avalanches very seriously.
I so wish that I could be you for a day. No one knows how to have fun like Trent Palmer! Loved the snowy diversion from your usual content. Keep it up my friend, many of us are living vicariously through cool people like you.
Trent, love all your videos. Love to see young people building their own life. I want you to know that you, the Patey brothers and all the flying cowboys have been very inspirational to me. I got current with my private august 2021 after 25 years and 3 weeks ago I passed the written for my instrument rating. Plan to do my check ride before summer and then get into a partnership on a 182. Keep the videos coming.
I know that this video but if you see my cooment i want to know if a kitfox comes painted or not because i am really wanting a big project when i have enough money for one
Love that you shared sledding videos too! Just a quick correction: blow-off valve ports boost when throttle is closed. The turbo wastegate opens to limit overboost when throttle is wide open.
Yeah, I noticed I said the wrong one when we were editing this 🤦🏻 the blow off valve is what makes the “pssst” noise when you let off the throttle, the waste gate is what I meant when I mentioned the throttle pulsating.
@@TrentonPalmer you really do know your stuff! I learned all that in Airframe & Powerplant, plus all the commercial flight training, so I had to say something. Just flash a script correction across the screen while editing. I love those corrections on other videos.
JFYI, you shouldn't be well onto the trail and simply asking if everyone has a beacon, shovel, and probe. You should be checking everyone's beacons in both search and transmit mode before you leave the parking lot. Glad you have the gear, but just like flying planes, develop a pre-flight checklist for backcountry in avalanche terrain that includes checking those functions at the very least.
Didn't know you were into SLEDS too! You've been to McCall in your plane, looks like you need to head up on your sled now! McCall and some other areas farther north in Idaho is where i ride.
Those Corona folding saws are no joke. They will saw through just about anything if you’re willing to work at it long enough. I’ve cut up 6” trees fell across the trail with them, ice and all.
Great day to enjoy fun in the snow - and you've got lots. Thanks for the updates. Hope things dry out soon so we can watch your hanger come into being.
What mic are you using? Been wanting to do some voice work over a running piece of equipment. I could hear your machine but your voice came through very clear.
DANG that was fantastic!! I ache all over now. (been too many years since I wore out my ridin skills) That snow looked superb!! NEVER felt snow like that in New York!!. BUT, I enjoyed every flake I mashed!! GREAT video Trent. This rivaled flying pretty well. Glad you did this one too.
We can't buy snow here in my part of Va. I think we have had less than an inch for the entire winter. The ski resorts have all shut down do to it being to warm and no snow. We are supposed to be near 80 by Weds next week.. I think you are do more snow soon as another storm is coming your way.
Here is one other thing I always keep in my snowmobile kit that you might want to add, TAMPONS!!! If you get in a situation where you need to start a fire fast, you can dip them in your gas tank and have instant fire wicks.... Enjoy that POW it looks bottomless.
Yes! I’ve been meaning to add that. I could always drop some of that mule tape in there to soak up fuel as well but you are right, tampons work great for that
Well seems like if you have gone 3 years without any other incidents the FAA might as well throw in the towel. Quite certain you have had more than 90 non-flying days out of the 1,100+ days that have passed
That is absolutely magnificent snow and extremley wild sled riding, just love skidoing and flying, very envious when we are in Australia and 38 degree celcius temps and 95% humidity, our equivilent is jetskiing which can be just as wild. Have you considered a trip to Aus, I own an aerodrome in Queensland (Coominya YBCM) 70km from Brisbane 1000m grass strip
THAT snow! WOW, so deep...so much. Great rear facing video footage Trent, but I guess you knew that already 😊. Can't believe the FAA incident has been >3 years, crazy how time has been rushing by since the world started with the 'C' pandemic. Not so sure about the audible 'F' bombs, not like your channels professional content. Really enjoyed the video, thanks. Keep safe and well both.
Man that looks like fun! We had a very mild winter up here in the Northeast, central MA to be specific ... and I'm STILL done with winter, lol. Can't wait for summer! :)
I am glad to see that you are very well prepared when you take that skidoo out! Those things are very much a death trap if you are not paying attention to your surroundings.
Snowmobiles or snow machines? Deathtrap? Aaw... I don't know they are any worse than a dirt bike or atv yah know? I rode and raced sleds for over forty, probably closer to fifty years! Got a few bumps & bruises but nothing serious.
I was hoping by now I would have been able to watch a video of someone like you or Mike patey that would involve the design of a machine to remove the massive snow buildups on rooftops out west some kind of long arm excavator like the rubber tired ones they have at metal yards with the cab that elevates above the rest of the machine so the operator can see into the back of semi trailers just adapt a blower unit from a skid loader to the end of the arm HD sparks have done some relief effort videos but just with what equipment he has good deeds for sure but just mostly conventional ways of process I live my life thinking alot of the time that my life is a throwaway or just someone else's design or stupid game but also know that there are people who care but they seem to be strangers or people who I've known that just moved on to another level people like you and Mike have a better chance of making good happen
I had a 2 hr+ mountain ride on my Ruffian electric snowbike today, still lots of snow in Idaho also, but nothing like what you are dealing with! I take my snowshoes, rope comalong, rope, ( I have a 200' of 3/4" mule tape for the plane, but don't carry it on the bike, should, like that Ready Rope) and shovel out of the ski plane and carry them with me on the bike, riding solo as of now so trying to be prepared. Between the ski plane and the snowbike, I feel the need before next winter to get a track setup for my ATV, to serve as a wrecker!
Wow Trent, last time I saw snow like that I was a youngster shoveling roofs in Tahoe city. Glad I'm in down in TX away from the snow. But it looked like a lot of good riding on the the snow machines.
That was a great diversion. Loved it. The snow this year is WILD. I got up for the first time last week myself. Bear Valley was amazing but the snow you were playing in... Wow! And LOL to "So, let's think about my options now..."
Wow bottomless snow! We've got good snow in the far northern plains too, but it's different conditions. We can go 150-200 miles a ride and can get from place to place faster on a sled than a car can. lol
That was epic. I’ve never been on a sled, and now I’m too old to try it, but your vid makes me wish I’d shredded the deep powder. So cool. Thanks for sharing.
