Wow, that’s really cool! I’ve always wondered how that weight was attached to the crane. Thanks for sharing man!

Makes sense once you see it . I thought I knew how cranes worked I learned from the boom video that I obviously do not. My part time grass cutting is back and in full swing so I look forward to your videos and G4 and Cut and Clean I am truly entertained to see how other people are getting it done. Have a good one .

Jeff Pratt, don't feel bad. Most cranes do the same things differently. Meaning, the same processes happen, but in a different fashion. Then when we think we have all of them figured out, the manufacturers will change it up on us. We are always learning. Hope you have a good week.

Logger Wade pointed to this channel and I subscribed. Your boom extension video showing how sections are extended by the internal extension cylinder and pinned is excellent. Technology combining computers with mechanics on this crane is fantastic. Thanks to you and Wade. I'll be with you for the ride.

Thank you! The technology in that crane is pretty amazing.

Wow, that’s really cool! I knew they hung from the back but I have never seen how they go the weights on there. Thanks for sharing man!

Patrick Gage, thanks for watching! 🙂 Not all cranes hang weights the same way. Some have pins that need to be put in, some have cylinders in the base weight that pushes them up. Seems like all the different manufacturers have their own way.

It's almost as if their ears were burning. Figures... I know they are just doing their job. But, I get about five calls a day. It gets a tad frustrating. Thanks for watching! Good luck with the telemarketers. 😉

Cool video I was expecting cables and hooks as the lifting method. Made it look as if the crane was coming down to meet the counter weight

Is there any advantage to having the dolly vs no dolly? I am not sure if you said it in a previous video. Anyway awesome content!!!
@ToTheTopCrane
@ToTheTopCrane 6 лет назад
Jordan Andrescavage, the dolly is used for highway travel. It spreads the gross weight out over more axles, and is required to meet the bridge axle spacing laws. Thanks for tuning in!

I can't believe that it took me so long to show everyone how the counterweights are hung on the back. I guess I just took it for granted. Thanks for hanging out and watching my videos.

What size shaft are the Rams 3 inch or more either way that's slick and impressive that you can put 110 on just 2 Rams
@ToTheTopCrane
@ToTheTopCrane 6 лет назад
Josh Welner, the rod diameter is probably around 3 inches, the bore or piston diameter is probably closer to 5 or 6 inches in diameter.

Ya'll do wind farms ? Wade said check your tube videos. Silverton Oregon says hello
@ToTheTopCrane
@ToTheTopCrane 6 лет назад
Irl Reed, I've been involved in the construction of three windfarms. However, the crane I operate isn't quite up to the task of building a wind turbine. Those are typically giant crawler cranes. Hello from Missouri! Thanks for dropping in. 🙂

@tractorboy31

Why do you have a dolley if you can carry it up front
@ToTheTopCrane
@ToTheTopCrane 5 лет назад
tractoboy31, we have to put the boom on the dolly if we are on the highway. It spreads the weight out over more axles. Due to bridge laws, the axle spacing is critical. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

I always thought they sat on something that swiveled with you. Didn't realize the hung off the back. How munch weight can you put? 150k?
@ToTheTopCrane
@ToTheTopCrane 6 лет назад
Jimmy's Tractor, we set them on the deck of the carrier, then spin around and line the cylinders up. Then the crane picks them up and they hang on the back. Total counterweight package is 110,000 lbs.
@BleuJurassic
@BleuJurassic 6 лет назад
that looks cool how do they lock in ?
@ToTheTopCrane
@ToTheTopCrane 6 лет назад
+Bleu Wolf, the rods rotate 90° after they get to the bottom. There is two switches in the cab. One lowers and raises the rods, the other rotates the rods. If you watch closely after the rods go through the top of the counterweights, it will rotate. Then I raise them up.
