Hey, I've done finish carpentry like this on multiple homes. For your first time installing a prehung door and bifold doors, you did a great job! Bifold doors can be tricky sometimes. I do things some slightly different, but we all learn and adapt our own styles with time. You mentioned that the rough opening of the door was a bit large but that is likely due to you mounting the hinge side so close to the stud. In general, you should try to shim out the hinge side a bit as well, even if the stud you are mounting to is plumb. This can help to prevent issues like trying to fit casing around the door on that short side, and other issues with keeping the whole door plumb when going to nail in the other side of the door (having some play on both sides can make adjusting things after the fact a lot quicker). Sometimes the plumb, hinge-side board is a little twisted causing the door not to want to shut if you keep the hinge-side door jamb tight against it. You might wanna close in and sound insulate the underside of the stair if you are gonna do a master upstair and have guests in this room. Makes it easier to sleep if someone going up the stair 😊

it looks really good but i would offer you a suggestion for the stairs. The vertical stripes look nice but i would get a bit of filler/dry wall putty and go over those knots in the plywood. then sand them smooth and another coat of paint. I think it would make it look a lot nicer and stand out less.

I think it all came out great. Nice work. Glad to see you stained the endgrain on the mini door trim.

Might of been good to condition the wood before staining / applying a satin unless that was the look you were going for. Conditioning the wood helps to seal up some of the deeper grains that cause blotchiness before staining / sealing. Looks good regardless.

Looks great! Only suggestion would be to move your can light in the living room that is next to your new wall as it seems to be too close and shines on the wall.

in the future, use pre-stain conditioner. you will get a much more even coat and less random darkspots when applying the stain.

I was concerned when you only stained 2 sides of the trim pieces, then I remembered what we wouldn’t see once they’re installed.

You need to balance your gimbal for your camera's specific and exact setup. The bobbing is really irritating.
