Managed to get the gates up. This is a semi permanent install as the posts will be changed once the garage wall is finished and garden wall rebuilt. There is also a gate latch to fit too allow access from both sides when we do not have it locked up. :-)
Flip the top diagonal round so that it’s parallel with the bottom one. It’ll help hold it up and prevent sagging. Right now it’s doing nothing. I learned this the hard way and started again
Growing up my dad always taught me the value of "having the right tool for the job", the start of this video made me think of that statement instantly!
Thanks nice job the gates look great well done 👏👍 bet you will be all the more proud that you made them from scratch. Looking forward to the next diy instalment video👍
Just use whatever is charged. The Bosch impact driver I prefer as its multi speed but everything else gets the job done just fine. Especially a fan of the cordless jigsaw. 👍
Personally I would have put both diagonals low on the hinge side and ran them parallel so they were both in compression and stopping the gate from sagging. The one that's high on the hinge side isn't doing anything useful IMO. The look nice though and I'm sure they will be fine.
Superior Being My thoughts exactly. Keeping them parallel with bottom of diagonals against hinge side directs pressure to post side. Top diagonal doing nothing structural. Glad I noticed your comment as was busy thinking “surely I’m not the only one who knows this!”. You learn from experience I guess
@@DB1956 If the diagonal is low on the hinge side it's in compression and keeping the gate from sagging, the other way it's in tension and adds nothing so structurally the diagonal pieces should all be like that for most strength.
You obviously don't watch enough videos where dogs open doors, gates, etc. and even a relatives dog opened an oven (round knob) and stole the chicken that was cooking :D
lag screws for the post to concrete attachment, you'll need those for any structure you need to anchor to concrete (patio to foundation etc.) You can find some with a part that will expand in the hole when it's thighten. Pretty sure his post are 6x6 and his wood boards either "real" 2x4 (patio board are more of a 1 3/4 inch) or 3x4.
Ofri Mashiah I would get a mixed set. Mines imperial and metric, with smaller sizes 1/4 inch drive and larger sizes 3/8. Might as well get something that covers a lot of bases, you never know where your talents will take you.
@@idi0tdetectioninprogress thanks for the help mate 😃. My mom asked me to install a led floodlight... So instead of an impact i will just get a set of sockets. Just bought a set actually for about 4 bucks. Super cheap one. But its pretty much a one time use for me right now. Here in Israel a good quality set is about 30 bucks so it will have to wait for the next project and so on. Justa bit much for me right now 👍
