Yeah, well...I'd never even heard of such a thing as a 'vaginal-dam' until I was 37! I mean, really...how the fuck an average guy ever know about that, and what it's for? (all I can say is 'eewww! You mean you need that to prevent circum-oral herpes from eating pussy???? NO FUCKIN'WAY! I wouldn't get closer than a mile to that!) (yeah...there's one that blocks semen as well...only girls hate it)
Amazing interview. Hank is so natural and honest as a person to the point that it's frankly refreshing in our current Hollywood climate. He's mindful about saying something off-color, but also knows that it's okay to just be honest with your own feelings and I really respect that.
I thought Azaria 'stole the show' in his scenes in "Godzilla"...especially his reaction when 'Big G' steps over him, he thinks for sure he's dead...and 'G' picks up his foot, leaving the photo-camera guy 'Animal' completely untouched! He starts shaking and cackling, looking around to make sure it's still New York and he ain't dead! He was great as the 'Blue Raja' as well..."I'm not 'ForkyBoy!' I'm not 'KnifeyStabby...I'm the 'Blue Raja'...the 'master of cutlery!".
I remember the guy on the 70's TV commercial cutting a tin can in half and then slicing a tomato afterwards. The Ginsu knife..ta-da! I also recall the Pet Rock, Sea Monkeys, Billy Beer, and Chia Pets. Yikes!
21:59 I had always heard the writers were initially adamant that Apu would not be an Indian, and Azaria ad-libed the voice as a joke and it stuck. I wonder if he just misspoke; or if the story I've always heard is wrong; or if in today's climate he's somewhat embarresed about that non-PC move.
"I treat every Simpsons script and every line with the care and enthusiasm it deserves." I like how he admitted to not giving a shit and phoning it in for the last 15 years.
There has been some misinformation, or a lack of specific information _leading_ to misinformation, about the relationship between the Pythons. A couple of well-known comedians and actors have said, in a (way too) general way that the Pythons don't like each other. Untrue, or not clear enough. John and Eric have had moments of friction in the last decade, mainly because of $. Eric was the force behind Spamalot, and his share of the loot was a source of bitterness to John, who was taken to the cleaners in a divorce. But John and Eric have since toured together outside of the reunion. John and Terry J always had a fraught working relationship, because John had an aloof detachment and Terry J was madly passionate about every idea he thought was good. So John liked to calmly pick holes in Terry J's passion, which infuriated Terry J. On one occasion John riled him so much that Terry J chucked a chair at him. And everyone loves Michael.
Let me tell ya, those two gentlemen added such a key depth to the segment, and obviously professionals because the way they weaved in the balance of contributions, done seamlessly, practically as if they weren't even there! THAT'S how you do radio, boys and girls!
Its not there job to contribute to the show. the older guy just works for the show behind the scenes and happened to sit down and the other guy is another guest, why would he chime in on another guest's interview time?
Pardon me but I've never seen, or heard, this bloke's 'radio' show, or podcast or whatever. Not a bad interviewer but it's easy to talk to Hank Azaria, he's a pro. My question is who in the name of heck were the two dudes sitting next to Mr Azaria? They were inanimate and the bloke in the middle said three words and had the rude effrontery to yawn, while on camera and while Hank was talking. He sat through the bulk of the interview stone faced like he was somewhere else. Only watched this for Mr Azaria. I won't be putting these dudes in my playlists unless I run out of sleeping pills. Cheers, BH. P.S. I do agree with you about 'Rusty' Crowe.
So funny to read peoples comments who arent part of the OandA/Jim Norton fan community. Interviews are a part but not really the point of this show (and it is a radio show). Its more about the interaction between the hosts and the staff. This segment only has one host (Jim) along with staff member Denny. Its also about the the regular guest comedians. Jim and Sam is basically the evolution of the second most successful talk/comedy radio show in history, but yeah, maybe the interviews arent always perfect.
Pieshka Coltic ...??....not really. l live in Baltimore, have for 33 years, Gary Thorne doesn't sound like that. He does have a classic announcer voice, not over the top
To hear Harry Shearer tell it, he is 1) solely responsible for the holdout that resulted in a better (and fair, to be honest) financial deal for the cast. There is likely some truth to that and 2) not close to anyone in the Simpsons cast. Harry is a bit of an outlier in that regard, at least in terms of his candor in saying publicly that he's not on great terms with Michael McKean, say, or other people that fans might expect or _want_ him to be close to.
Hold on, he said his wife can't throw anything away. As far as I'm aware he was only married to Helen Hunt and that lasted a little more than a year and they divorced like fifteen years ago or something.
As apposed to all the important comments. One guy gave enough of a shit to reply to it. What a loser that guy must be. Scotty? really? I hope you're no older than 12 with a name like that. Ugh a DJ good luck with that.
