I was 8 years old when this song came out. Today, I'm an old man. Survived a accident where I died 3 times before I was stable enough for major back surgery. Ended up in a wheelchair, rest of my life. I survived to watch my wife of 28 years decide that living with a man in a wheelchair was not for her, so she left me for another man. I have had way to many storms and tornados. Today the meaning of this song is reveled.
God pulled you through all this for a reason!! He does not make mistakes!! He has blessed you with life, you take it in whatever form you can!! You will be ok!! God will see to that!! I'm sorry your wife didn't see it that way!! Always put God first and you will be blessed beyond ways you can't imagine. Maybe you are here to help others in situations like yourself. Give it time. I will keep you in my prayers!!
Blessing to you my Brother, you've lasted this long meaning no storm was too big to you. Hopefully you've found someone who actually knows what unconditional love means and till death so us part.
I do not know what the future holds.. I did 5 years in the Marine Corps (19' - 24').. blue collar jobs call my name.. dad has parkinsons and listen to hank will jr. growing up.. (he was never there).. mom is alone with her husband and ive been to 10 different counties.. this song always knows how to make my nights after a 24 pack in the barracks room alone. I miss all my first homies. good luck to all the gen z homies listening to hank will jr... your not alone...
My dad and I used to listen to Hank a lot. Now when I'm having a day, good or bad, I put in some Hank. Go visit my dad at the cemetery. It may sound silly, but it's my way of getting by. All is right with the world then.
I’m Mexican I grew up with Rap & hip hop music and also Mexican ofcourse but when I first heard this song man… chills down my spine one of the greatest country songs of all times hank is a legend !
Hell yeaa man same here, started listening to Waylon & got hooked onto more of the outlaw country 💯now I don’t listen to rap otherwise it’s classic Hermano
Me too the first time i heard this song was last year when he played it live as soon as the concert was over i went on my phone and looked it up i couldnt believe all these years went by and i had never heard this beautiful song hanks a legend this is real music not the stuff we have today!!
@@keithclark486 sounds like a tuning issue more than anything. Guitar sounds a little flat the whole performance to me. Regardless Jr. more than makes up for it with his singing.
Actually it still lives you just have to know where to find it...check out Tyler Childers, Jason Boland and the Stragglers, Cody Jinks, Turnpike Troubadours, Colter Wall and Whiskey Myers just to start...you can think me later
Same exact thing came to my mind except my best friend had a different name. Kenny was a wayyy better singer than me though. Glad to know we weren't the only ones doing that kinda thing.
The live version is sooooo much better than the original. Hank was really on it that night. This video has a certain aura about it that I can't explain. Makes you feel like you were at that show or something. Whatever it is, a great song, with well thought out lyrics. The outlaws were something else. There will never be another point in time like that. Country music has really gone down the shitter. In fact, calling it country music is a slap in the face to all who paved the way. Waylon would give all these new "artists" the three stooges open handed paint brush bitch slap if he was still around. RIP Waylon
In 1982 I seen Hank in concert 3 times and never was disappointed. I was 17 and senior in high school. Now I'm 56 and still never disappointed and still listen to his music. Raised my son and daughter on his music and Waylon. He still has the best line in any song ever Hey man them ain't high heel sneakers sure don't look like cowboy boots. That ain't rock n roll your playing sure ain't country rythm and blues.
This sure makes me want to crack a bottle of whiskey to my self sit on my deck while it storms or even a sunny day thinking of how great life is while I catch a buzz 3 am and smoking weed rn
Truly awesome performance. Love how he notices the low E string is slightly out of tune and incorporates it into the solo by dropping it to d and bringing it back up. One of the best modern country musicians to ever play.
This was the era in my opinion that Hank Jr made some of the best music of his career. He skyrocketed with hit after hit, great job Boecphus. Wisdom Montana dirt and air helped him wrote some great hits! The man has made his mark in country music, now relax and enjoy Hank.
I agree the late 70's and early 80's was one of the best eras in country music. Unfortunately Ken Burns gave the era short shrift in his documentary and left out a lot about the era. Hank Jr. did get some coverage, mostly because he was close to Johnny Cash.
MY BROTHER AND COUSINS AND I. WOULD JAM TO HANK JR. PROB. EVERY WEEKEND. COLD BEER. CAMPN ON FISHN BANK BIG FIRE ROASTING HOT DOGS. DAMN THOSE WERE THE DAYS ...
I was in high school when this was made and this is the music I grew up with. Young people today don't know what good music is and today's singers are just that singers. We grew up with legends making the music we listened too.
I'm turning 25 this June. Hank and Waylon get me through the tough times when I need em most. Not all us youngsters are blind to the musical talent of these legends
I've never heard this recording, or even a performance of Mr. Weatherman live. This absolutely blows the recorded version out of the water. What an amazing talent.
This song hits me straight to the core of my soul. I've felt like this..... but I can't express it. Hank can and I'm thankful for musicians like him. What a special talent!!
I just lost my 18 yr old nephew to a car wreck. This has always been a favorite of mine and it was his favorite song. This has been a heart crushing ordeal for my sister and bro in law and close family
Sitting here through Hurricane Irma listening to the PERFECT Hank song for the occasion! The man is and will always be a true Country Music / Rythem & Blues / Southern Rock #ICON
Hank Jr. Is Country Music listening now as my bro would want me to be doing I miss him everyday but he lives in my heart and so does this great song!!!!!
I can't believe I just started listening to this song this year,I thought I had heard everything that he had sang. Guess not 🚫🚫 anyway I have been fighting blood cancer for over a year and a half. Had a stem cell transplant and it's in remission, so there is a lot of high and lows.
This music, and the times, makes you want to go back when times were good. Now everyone is in your business, you can't even fart without someone wanting to smell it
This man a true soul of americana he strikes that guitar hits those country notes and can make your heart soar. He's true American Country music treasure!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍👍👍
Some songs just sound perfect live and not so good in the studio… this one is a masterpiece in this live form. The emotion is raw and on display. The constant battle of the guitar and the piano is symbolic of the hurt VS heal aspect of the songs message. Love this version
I grew up listen to hank. It was one of my dads favorite singers! Hank has amazing voice. Still 39 years later this song is still one of the best songs ever! True country music! Gives me chills still today listening to it! Thank you Hank Jr. for amazing song that will last forever!
Best hank song tbh, doesn’t get the credit like family tradition or country boy can survive, but this is such a good song, deep meaning and the vocals are tremendous! They surely don’t do it like they used to
The things I liked about Hank's music was everything. I can still get one of his CDs and just let it play. One of the very few artists that made sure all 10 songs were good on his records. Had many many songs that would have been awesome hits to put on every C&W radio station's playlist. This song is just one of many examples.
I have been being open minded and trying new music especially legends. Glad I'm open minded. This guy is amazing. What an awesome song. This dude can make a guitar cry
being southern makes this so much more special, you can feel the real emotion from where “country” started. Hank Jr will forever be the greatest to ever do it.
Just saw him live this weekend, and even as a 74 year old man he sings the song perfectly. With his own flair, adds some stuff. Just a wonderful performance. Couldn’t have been happier
I beat it was badass!! I grew up on this. We still have the vinyl records. I know every album. He definitely will always be one of the ALL TIME GREATEST ARTISTS IN REAL COUNTRY MUSIC! Glad you got to go! ❤
This song reminds me of a time in my life that rips my heart out . That I try not to think about. It makes me want to drink till I cant stand up . But I still love the music !
I heard Hank coming through the speakers when I was little and now he comes through when I need him. Always the good stuff right where you need it. ~~~~~Brad Cooley
To many Highs! To many Lows! To many Storm's and Tornadoes! Man, Those are some Great Blues lyrics. Maybe the Best I have ever heard! Thanks, Hank! I have been through alot of Highs and Lows! Been blown around and hit by Storm's and Tornadoes. I am still here! Love this song. From a Icon! A member of the CMHF! Congratulations Hank! Shawn
