Medley of five Hank Williams songs: Your Cheatin' Heart Hey Good Lookin' I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry Cold Cold Heart I Saw The Light Mark Clifton - Dobro
It always gets me how Hawaiian country music sounds on Dobro when you're not Joshin it, which of course speaks to the genious of the man to basically invent a new instrument by playing in a different style, but also to the fact that the influence of Hawaiian music on American music in general is extremely underrated. In any case this is very beautiful! I'm glad I found your channel!
Yes!! You picked the right keys to showcase the feel of the song...Retired old nightclub fiddler here who sees and appreciates that stuff. Thank you so much..
Yes he did a great job but original recordings were not on dobro. They were on a stand up lap top steel. Completely different sound and style... Again-no bad remarks about great dobro job..
Do you play by ear? My mom and dad both do. They can play anything. My dad played the steel guitar before trying the dobro. It just came to him. They both played the guitar and banjo. Well they actually play everything. Give it a try and practice. You can if you really want to.
@@MasonCroneMusic That’s absolutely great. My parents have passed on now but I have plenty of memories of them playing well, everything. They were from the South. I have it on video that we changed over to a dvd. Don’t ever give up. Just keep trying. Our parents taught us that much. We sang and they played music. We picked up music by ear. My sister heard her piano playing and went into the room and found her 4 year old son playing. She immediately put him in music classes. He still plays by ear but at least if someone in church pitches a song his way, he can read the notes. If you play a banjo then you already have the picking part. The slide will come with practice. Keep it up. One day I will see you on here playing the dobro.
Excellent! Thank you, I’ll be practicing along :) My great grandfather had an all steel dobro, but by the time I started learning music he was going deaf and had arthritis. I remember him being excellent though (and on banjo, guitar, etc)
