You can thank Sullivan-Bluth studios for that, bud. Though, now that I mention it, Dick Dastardly's voice actor sounds a helluvalot like the main villain from Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp...hmm...
It will never stop feeling odd to see Hanna Barbera characters with such fluid animation when they're the ones that more or less created the whole idea of "limited animation" as a business practice.
I remember being blown away by this kind of animation as a kid. It's hard to believe that this was considered groundbreaking animation at the time. Even the CGI was unlike anything that we'd ever seen. It felt like the only time you would see stuff like this was at a theme park. Nowadays it's everywhere!
Oh that is amazing and hilarious! A cartoon ride that wasn't even animated by the people who made the show!! (I totally understand why, and everything, I just think idea of that is funny)
I remember going on this ride when I was a kid. The funny thing is, I discovered Dastardy and Muttley years later in my teens and had forgotten that they were the villains in this ride.
I knew what Wacky Races was as a kid, because my okaa-san grew up watching the Japanese language version in Japan! She bought me VHS tapes of that dub when I was round 4 years old.
I don't know about you guys, but I can't stop picturing a ride like this with Nintendo characters/themes. Think about it: You'll join Mario and Luigi in wild chase after Bowser or Wario and Waluigi who have captured Princess Peach through the worlds of Super Mario Bros, F-Zero, Donkey Kong Country, Metroid, Legend of Zelda, and so on.
I absolutely loved this ride as a child when I went to Universal Studios. I went on the ride 45 times (yes I counted). That's how much I loved it. The second time I went to Universal Studios, it got replaced by the Nicktoons ride, which is pretty much the same, but just doesn't feel as exciting.
Rode this ride when I was a kid back 2001 with my family. This was my absolute favorite ride at Universal Studios back in the day. Sad that it is gone, but I am glad that this video is up on RU-vid. I don’t ever want to forget this ride, nor forget how much joy it brought to me as a child.
I wish Universal Studios Florida (a.k.a. Universal Orlando Resort) still had that ride, plus the Meet-and-Greets with the "Hanna-Barbera" Characters they used to have! :'(
In 1996 when I was 11 years old ... me, my sister, and my parents visited Universal Studios and Disneyworld for the first time. During my time at both amusement parks ... two rides (one each at each park) stood out to me the most at such a young age. The Haunted Mansion at Disneyworld ... and this ride, the Hanna-Barbera ride at Universal Studios. Two of the most fun and coolest rides Id ever been on in my life. I'm glad the Haunted Mansion is still there at Disney as I think it'll never be gone, but I'm sad this one is gone. Seeing this for the first time all these years later, really hits me in the feels.
I love Hanna Barbera. Its a damn shame all they can do with the characters nowadays is keep recycling Scooby Doo all the damn time. I'd love to see some revivals of other characters.
I remember going on this ride at Universal Studios Florida way back in 1992 32 years ago, I was 6 years old back then. It was a lot of fun and my family and I loved it so much! Universal Studios Florida in the 90s were so much great fun and they were filled with memories and nostalgia in the end.
Wow! This takes me back! I use to make my family ride this thing so many times when we went every summer. I swear, the kids these days have no idea what they've missed.
I wish universal would bring this back for a limited time at least like for an anniversary event. Sadly I was only able to first go as a kid when it was turned to the Nickelodeon ride which is also amazing. I’d love to experience this.
I remember riding this ride back when and I miss it so much and in the gift shop there used to be a machine that would allow you to do cartoon overdubs and you could hear your voice on the parts you overdubbed. That was awesome and I miss both at Universal Studios Orlando but Jimmy Neutron is another great ride in it's place.
I went to Universal Studios when I was about 6. The rides that I remember the most were ET, Back to the Future, Twister, Jaws, Earthquake, King Kong, and Terminator. It was so much fun. It all seemed so real and magical :) I want to go back there again someday.
I kind of remember Jimmy Neutron's makes you hop more while you're sit down and is more comical in general. Hanna-Barbera's was the best for older generations, though, because of the nostalgia :)
Oh, and anothing thing I love is that they have the music for their shows (well, not Scooby Doo, but it was great when Bedrock came and the Flintstone's theme started playing. 8D)
Damn this is one awesome Ride... you know without Editing of the Original Video Project, and just Re-Process this for an IMAX Theater and it will be even more AWESOME!
@@simpleworksentertainment2401 They call it a 4d ride because it feels like you’re actually there you don’t really get that kind of investment in 2d and 3d animated programs
That would be awesome, but... I wonder how many people will actually remember the Hanna-barbera cartoons, is not something that was...pass on like the Looney Tunes or Disney.
I rode this in 2000 with my little brother when we visited UNIVERSAL ORLANDO for the first time.... I had been to EPCOT with my cheerleading squad before but this was my first time being at another Floridian park. This was the BEST RIDE THERE.
Wow...I'm an AP holder at the Universal in FL..I've rode the Jimmy ride a gazillion times (courtesy of my kids), but couldn't remember much of Hanna Barbera. Thanks a bunch of posting!!! Brought back a lot of memories from BEFORE I even moved to FL.
Last time I rode this was at Dollywood in 2007. And as much as I love the Minions and their ride, I really wish they would bring this back somewhere sometime... :(
Yeah... Although if we're talkin' WB at Six Flags... I think this would be good too... But I'd also want "Tiny Toon Adventures" and "Freakazoid".... lol A Tiny Toons coaster simulator... :D One of them is nabbed by Elmira when Max goes zipping by in a brand-new cruiser and they have to chase and rescue for the kidnapee... It could go through all the Looney Toons worlds, although I could care less about that bit. I just like Tiny Toons a lot. lol But even better than that? I'd pick Freakazoid over Tiny Toons to go next to Hannah-Barbera. Dexter's family goes on vacation to a theme park and while riding a skyway-like attraction, they're kidnapped when someone says Candlejack. Dexter has to "Freak Out" and chase after Candlejack to get them back. Every time the ride is about to do something crazy/thrilling, you get the subtitles on a paused screen saying "SCREAM" (because the pre-show would inform you that this ride is being presented in "SCREAM-O-VISION" for your viewing pleasure). It would go through the worlds of different WB cartoons via the internet (when Freak and CJ crash into the park's main office and into a computer). After finally apprehending Candlejack, Freak runs into Cosgrove, who of course invites him to go get a mint before they send everyone through the exits. The attraction could also possibly feature some of the other heroes from Freakazoid, too.
@@CosplayCore Actually, this ride closed in October 2002, and Jimmy Neutron opened in April 2003. It was shown at Dollywood only during the summer of 2007 during their annual KidsFest. After 2002, this ride hopped around from park to park, at places like Kings Dominion, Kings Island, Carowinds, Kentucky Kingdom, Mall of America, etc.
Wow… this was the first simulator I ever rode. I never thought before the creation of RU-vid that I’d be able to see this again. Thanks for the upload!
This ride was awesome. The old school Universal STudios was awesome because it had my fav Nickelodeon STudios. And so many things. You notice how it cut Yogi's message at the end of the ride. Patric Zimmerman was Elroy for this ride. This ride beat out other rides in other theme parks. This was the first ride I went on during my visit in 2002. Nickelodeon Studios I stopped after this ride.
Yeah, shame this video cuts off just when he does that. Yogi says "Thanks for joining in the ride,I'll be seeing you on the outside. Ho-Ho-Hey!" then turns off the lights.
I sure am glad that the comments section is turned back on, not to mention that COPPA has no business enforcing kids content related issues 😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬😾😾😾😾😾😾😾😾😾😾😾😾!
I like all of the three rides that was made in one area, Hanna Barbera, Jimmy Neutron, and Despicable Me. I like all of them equally. And I know about all of the rides at Universal parks and Disney parks in Orlando, because my parents work at Disney, and my dad has a park pass that lasts up for like a year, and when it expires, he buys a new yearly one. :P I do miss the previous 2, Back to the future, King Kong, and especially Jaws, but of course, we all have to move on. Thank you though so much for uploading this video. :)
Who wan'ts to here my Hanna Barbera poem? It goes like this: Yabba dabba doo Scooby dooby doo We shall go with you And the Jetsons too It was inspired by the Yabba dabba doo cereal commercial, and I did not realize it had these Hanna Barbera shows in it until I watched this.
Oh, the memories! I enjoyed this ride as a kid! I didn't go to Universal Studios, but the Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera was the show available in the Rialto motion simulator ride of Enchanted Kingdom here in the Philippines when I visited Enchanted Kingdom last 2006 when I was 9 years old. I would bring an origami gun with me to the Rialto and pretend that I'm a secret agent sent on a mission to rescue Elroy Jetson and I'd pretend to shoot at Muttley and Dick Dastardly with said origami gun. I even remember humming the Mission: Impossible theme loudly while pretending to shoot Muttley and Dick Dastardly that my mom had to explain to me that I cannot do that because motion theaters are just like movie theaters that you have to be quiet. I loved pretend playing that I'm a secret agent and I'm proud that James Bond and Mission: Impossible are a vital part of my childhood!
Ya know what I'm thinking? I can't stop thinking of a 5d ride like this but it's BFDIA. Picture this story line... You are now a contestant of bfdia and Announcer puts you on WOAH bunch, the challenge is to beat freesmart in a race across the TV show universes like nickelodeon's, but pencil steals your only teammate: PIN! Now the rest of WOAH bunch and also team no name have to control and help you save pin and win the race. Effects: Wind Fog Water Smoke Even a thing that touches you when pencil naughtily throws a spider at you but when freesmart fails to pull up, the spider falls off.
In 2002,Universal closed this ride because Hannah died in 2001. So they had to replace it with "Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast" in early 2003. Then Neutron was closed in mid 2011. And it was replaced with "Despicable Me Minion Mayhem" in mid 2012.
what. You mean to tell me that I missed a chance to give Shaggy a hug because one of his creators passed? (I'm one of those weird people that goes to give characters hugs whenever I feel like they should "need" it)
They probably was going to close it anyways if he was still alive just for a update but yeah this is the best version of the ride with the best Hannah Barbara adventure
Well apparently, Hannah and Joseph were in the ride’s preshow. And Hannah died a year before this ride closed. So it wouldn’t sound right if this remained opened without Hannah and Joseph existing anymore.
Imagine if they were to add the Tom & Jerry sequence, or Huckleberry Hound, and several others, it's just Yogi Bear, The Flintstones, Scooby-Doo, and The Jetsons.
