I am the same way. I’ve been disabled since I was a toddler and have always been known to diffuse pretty much everything with humor, jokes, sarcasm, etc. I don’t have any children but if I did I would hope in a way they’d be the same. (: thumbs up to us funny folk!

At the end of the day the fact that Shane cannot throw a ball with the kid or help him do chores isn’t going to mean shit to the kid, and isn’t going to impact who the child becomes. What’s going to matter is who Shane is, how he supports and loves his kids. Your ignorance can go elsewhere.

@@emilie2667 my father walked out with a younger woman .he never wants to come visit .I was around 8 or 9 when I last saw him I'm 18 now .we kind of got in an argument .my mother is disabled and him and his new wife was talking about taking me to raise me by themselves but tbh I love my dad and his new wife .but I don't love her ways .I remember I had to stay with them when I was younger while the divorce was being settled.she was extremely narccicistic and hateful .my mom is one of the nicest ladies you could ever meet .and I was thinking and can't stop thinking about why my dad would leave a nice woman for a hateful one .it just baffles me

Actually the complete opposite will happen. You see, when i child is exposed to true love and how to love one another and not judge and to see how to take care of one another a child will also do that. So no, their kids won't suffer. They have just as much of a chance as anyone. They might even be better at compassion and kindness because of their parents true love.

I don't know how you are when you're sarcastic (it can be different for everyone) but I think body language has a lot to do with it too, and why this also happens to me too when I'm being sarcastic. If someones acting serious/holding a straight face, even if what they're saying is ridiculous and they think that should be enough to give away that it's a joke/sarcasm, it can be hard to tell because of the body language. Sometimes you think people are being sarcastic and you laugh.... But then they were actually being serious... So it can definitely be harder to differentiate when someone is being sarcastic. Then again, has sarcasm ever really been something that *everyone* got throughout history? I'd bet people have been getting offended by sarcasm since it's invention.

Daria B Well, not a zero percent chance, but pretty close to it. Their kids will be carriers though, which could affect their endeavors in finding a partner and having their own kids. Not to say that’s a reason to worry, but it’ll still be something there.

Thora F This is possible, as there are already more treatments than when Shane was growing up, though they’d still need to have insurance willing to cover such therapies. You can already also do genetic testing on embryos before implantation to select out those with SMA, which is something Hannah and Shane said they wouldn’t do if she had been a carrier.
