Hans Davidsson "Buxtehude and Schnitger - an encounter in Cappel"
Hans Davidsson is professor of organ at the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen and at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen. 1987--2005, he served as professor of organ at the School of Music at Göteborg University, and 1994-2009 as the Artistic Director of the Göteborg International Organ Academy (GIOA), and he is the founder of Göteborg Organ Art Center (GOArt). 2001-2012, he served as professor of organ at the Eastman School of Music and the Project Director of the Eastman-Rochester Organ Initiative in Rochester, NY, USA. He performs and teaches at major festivals and academies throughout the world. He has made many recordings, most recently the complete works of Dieterich Buxtehude on the Loft label.
The upcoming website www.hansdavidsson.com will present news, texts, recording samples, films etc concerning the organ, related to my activities as performer, teacher and scholar. In the future, there will also be a possibility to order for example recordings.

I first learned about these wonderful Schnitger organs way back in the 1960s with the late E. Power Biggs’ 2-LP set “The Golden Age of the Organ”. The booklet had great black & white photos but now to see and hear the Cappel instrument with today’s video technology is a real treat. Thank you!

Dear Andrea, at the time of this film there was no tin plague on the front pipes, and I have not heard any reports about problems of that kind.

A riveting lecture, though it was hard to concentrate on what he was saying once the gigue fugue began in the background! What an organ, and what a privilege to hear it.

Why would anyone want to buy a new organ if they had a chance to buy a used Schnitger, especially one that was "used" by Bach and Buxtehude?
