Hans Dekker is in my own view and perceptions one of the best big-band drummer of all time,, treating every beat, every sound he produces like music, just as it should be in any sort of circumstances. Any band should consider it an utter blessing to be backed by such a creative musician. 💝

As a permanent WDR fan, I check out Hans almost daily. His ability as a drummer is undisputable. Better than that, though, is the fact that he is such a MUSICIAN and capable to play legit on any style. Congrats, Hans, for keeping so well the drummer seat for such a long time!

Sehr sympathisch, der Hans. Beeindruckend auch, wenn jemand, der auf seinem Niveau spielt, sagt, er möchte nicht im Vordergrund stehen. Genau so empfindet man es auch, wenn man auf sein Spiel achtet: immer swingend voller Spielfreude bildet er das rythmische Rückgrat, auf das sich alle Mitglieder der BB blind verlassen (können).

Très beau commentaire ;) Concernant les musiciens de WDR je suis d'accord avec vous, le visage est le reflet de l'âme effectivement. Même si parfois les apparences sont trompeuses à mon humble avis. J'en ai vu des gens pas sympas en apparences et pourtant certains d'entres eux étaient très sympas au fond, ils ne parlent pas dans le dos des autres. Et seront franc avec les gens. Et j'en ai vu, quelques hommes et femmes, qui en apparences paraissent comme de gentils brebis mais enfaite sont de véritables loups. Mais concernant Hans Dekker oui j'en suis sur c'est un homme solide et très naturel. Enfin sur terre il y a aussi à mon avis des gens naturellement sympathique, des gens nerveux, des gens plus caractériels et d'autres plus discrets. C'est cela qui fait le charme de la vie pour moi, on a besoin des uns et des autres.

Dear Aaron, totally correct. Starting in 2018 with the portrait series, we chose Repercussions (Michel Camilo) as the opening tune. Due to continuity within the series we decided to use it for Hans as well. We hope this is okay for everyone. Enjoy!

If appears to me that Hans comes out of the Mel Lewis, Jeff Hamilton, John Von Ohlen school of being completely relaxed at the kit.... everything flows....and swings...nothing forced.... they offer you their beat... and will swing you into bad health they will...
