Not college, we're a local sports bistro, owner is into surfing, but we're in Idaho so it throws some people off lol. Definitely it is a real awesome sword!

Thanks glad you enjoyed it. Nice you have the practical models, these are a step up for sure with the koshirae and saya. Hopefully they're back in stock soon maybe in March if we're lucky with Hanwei restocks.

Thanks, yea the Ninja-To is kind of an acquired taste you either love them or hate them, lol. Being a 80s kid I grew up watching all those 80s ninja films I mentioned in the review so they have a special place in my heart, lol. As far as the Iga yes it is the most aesthetically appealing and traditionally made Ninja-To on the market. Hanwei did a great job with this and the Kouga model.

Yea the fine details of the fit and finish are great and something I really tried to express and show.

@@DynamoSwordChannel interestingly there are some swords of Korean origin that look like katana was straight blades they tend to have oval guards or round guards more similar to a katana than a ninja-to. I did a couple videos featuring one that I made from a very cheap ninja lol But coming from a European sword background the straight blade appeals to me more than the curved

Nice, yea was a big 80's ninja fan myself. To answer you're question yes this is fully functional and it's build, quality and steel grade are equal to other katana produced in the $500-$1000 price range.

If I'm not wrong there was a similar sword used before called Chokutō. Guess ninjato just sounded ''cooler'' :P Correct me if im mistaken.

Yea the full handle length tang is unnecessary and actually not traditional with Japanese swords either. All Nihonto and the majority of traditionally made reproduction katana have 3/4" tangs. Nice I'll have to check it out. Never heard of Lyuesword are they from Ebay?

I wouldn't necessarily say they are Chinese Dao. Yes all Japanese Swords were influenced by the Chinese Dao but the Ninja-To more or less has more in common with the Japanese Chokuto and specifically the Kiriha and Hira-Zukuri blade types. The straight blade throws people off but in reality straight bladed or no-sori (blade curvature) katana did exist and were used throughout medieval and early modern Japan. Overall the the modern Ninja as we them today has been been a direct fictional figure based on historical Shinobi and the mysticism and around them. Looking back at the ancient and non-nonfictional Ninja would be like people from the future looking back at CIA of our present time and believing them all to be bad ass Jason Bourne or James Bond type espionage agents. Those fantasy myths are what makes them cool. Their history is what makes them remembered and relevant to history.

Ninja means outlaw . Many different types of outlaw in feudal Japan. Shinobi were the spies and were considered ninja in a rival fuedal estate , but they would have been considered legitimate Shinobi in their home estate as well . So in other words a rebel mercenary who broke shogunate laws and lost protected status within the nation would become ninja (felon, outlaw ) as well as a common thief would become ninja status. The art of the ninja ranged from that of a common thief, or murderer, to that of a disgraced samurai , or a mountain mercenary clan who broke imperial law . I say ninjutsu is a combination of all . The Art of the Outlaw(Ninja).
