I posted this video several years ago & always wanted to know what he was saying. I recently came across a translated version.

wow. Thank you for this. As a former Hapkido practitioner and even as a 1/2 Korean bloodline, this is amazing to hear him finally.

The Korean Hapkido Federation, Global Hpkido Federation, and Worls Sin Moo Hapkido should reach an agreement and create a single united organization that (although preserving styles) makes sure there are rules of what is and what isnt hapkido in order to avoid further division as time passes

Thank you for posting this. Your channel has an extremely interesting selection of different videos from different places and your own videos are quite informative and well balanced. I can see you're really going out of your way not to get into unnecessary arguments (which is extremely easy to do with this topic...) and I can see from your own videos that you are a very dedicated, sincere and skillful martial artist. This video and a quick perusal of the cchapkido site are very interesting and also raise some other questions. I don't personally practice hapkido ( as you might guess I practice other martial arts) and I've already come to some conclusions about the history of hapkido but am not an expert on the topic and am trying to be open minded and just get to the basic truth for myself as well as I can. (So I'll try to keep my own opinions and conclusions out of the discussion...) If it's ok, I'd like to ask a few little questions. I would be very interested in your answers. Firstly, the teacher Chang Chinil (장진일) doesn't seem to have left any footage of himself actually doing hapkido on RU-vid that I can easily find. Do you know if any such footage is easily available on the internet?

There's very little of Chinil Chang unfortunately. He was left the successor of Hapkido but didn't seem to do much with it. It's my understanding that he came to the United States in the early seventies & open a school. There is more information about him on the Jung Ki Kwan website but as for videos I haven't seen anything. I've looked as well, I'm sure any footage of him would be in a private collection. I would like to think that maybe it'll be released as he just passed away couple years ago.

@@JasonWhiteMartialArts Thanks for the reply. It's a shame there's no footage out there at this stage. It seems almost unbelievable given that he's been acknowledged as successor on video and there's tons of footage of other teachers out there. Of the Korean Hapkido students of Choi Yong-sool that I have seen footage of, Kim Yunsang is the one doing something that looks most similar to the limited footage I've seen of Choi Yong-sool or even daito ryu. It would be interesting to see how similar Chang Chinil and Kim Yunsang are.

I agree. Choi also have out three 9th dans. One is still teaching today, Hyun Soo Lim out of Deagu. He's probably the closest to the original Hapkido there is. He claims to have not changed a thing. I have some of his videos I posted years ago on my page.

He is talking about Kuk Sool Won and Hwa Rang Do. After a few months... They are all just telling lies about a fake Korean history while practing Japanese martial arts.
