Hapkido and Aikido come form the same martial art: Daito Ryu Aikijujitsu, so it makes sense that some of their techniques look similar.

That's why I teach my students wrestling and striking techniques.

In many martial arts (aikijutsu daito-ryu, jiu-jitsu, Hapkido) very traumatic techniques! And in order not to get injured during the demonstration, the assistant has to do insurance! Even in any sports fight, when working out throws, the partner always makes insurance.

Hapkido traditional is a set of self-defense techniques, and at the core there is no concept of one-on-one free combat as in martial arts.

I know a lot of high dan hapkido black belts who don't know how to punch or wrestle - and that's their disadvantage. Wrestling is the basis of martial arts, this is my opinion, plus striking, plus Hapkido techniques (jiu-jitsu)!
