Most impressed me your appearance dear Grandmaster. True understatement. Thank you. I just began with Hapkido. My Grandmaster has 9 DAN there and 9 in Taekwondo. It's an honor, a privilege to be taught by people like him and you.

Get out of it, they're teaching you bs and trying to scam you completely, they don't know what they're doing and it sounds like they're trying to indoctrinate you from your comment. DON'T BELIEVE THIS BS.

I met you in Crestview, Fl couple of years ago. I'm sure you don't remember me. Anywho, I wish you would put more videos up for us to view. You are a tremendous martial artist. I was duly impressed.

I did a little Hapkido when i was a teenager. Been looking at Hapkido video's because i love the style.I would say it's better than Aikido because it has kicks and punches too,just wish those fancy throws and joint locks worked in real situations?

Unfortunately no, they look beautiful and graceful, but when you see these kinds of parries and wrist locks, you know it won't work, especially without sparring

Read some comments and it's mind boggling to me that the negative things said regarding leaving your arm out there is not reality, well you peeps are so wrong.Grand master Ken is the real deal, any of these moves work no matter how strong your adversary is, I know for a fact, I have studied since 1982, 4 different forms, and I mix them up like Bruce Lee said to do, and he wad the best ever, he studied wing Chun and taekwondo studies for the amazing kicks, you mix Chinese, Korean and Japanese martial arts and you'll never lose a fight if you're attacked.

U are so incredibly wrong, that won't happen unless your adversary is both drunk and smaller than you, look up any of the above martial arts you named sparring against any Gracie's, you'll find soon enough that they're teaching you stuff that will work 0% of the time. This bs is obvious and more than you'd ever realise, it can get u killed, go to somewhere with good ethics that spars hard and rewards only hard work and demonstration of ability when confronted with resisting attackers. Learn real martial arts, not this bs

I can tell all of you ignorant people who want to attempt at demeaning GM MacKenzie due to his size that size may make kicking difficult but not impossible. My master instructors are a large man and a 67 year old woman. They have their limitations, but do not let them do locks and such on you. Also, hoshinsul is not just locks, it is any kind of self defense techniques whether kicks, strikes, locks, etc or a combination of all of them.

How long time does it take from you step on the matt until you tie on your black belt in Hapkido? Just about the time it takes, because I know everyone is different.

Meanwhile the opponent isnt fighting back or isnt resisting and is just going to leave their arm out for you to grab ahold of.
@Martial-Mat
@Martial-Mat 8 лет назад
+Eric McDougall It's a drill, designed to develop the skills. Not realism designed to apply them. VERY hard to do that with locks because they're so dangerous to the opponent.
@ninjamaster7724
@ninjamaster7724 5 лет назад
@@Martial-Mat so you train those techniques against a complient partner to practice for when you will actually need it in a real situation but when the time comes to use it for real you won't be able to because you never practiced for real? So what's the point other than for fun?
@Martial-Mat
@Martial-Mat 5 лет назад
@@ninjamaster7724 Because you're training muscle memory and physiolically appropriate responses for the movement. It's far from perfect but unless you can find partners who really want to hurt you (in which case YOU wouldn't want to train with them) it's the best you can do.
@societybelike
@societybelike 4 года назад
@@Martial-Mat no, you do what's called sparring, where in a scenario where someone is hurt, they tap out, don't dare try and say this bs
@Martial-Mat
@Martial-Mat 4 года назад
@@societybelike Sparring teaches sparring. It's no more fully transferrable to the street than training with a compliant opponent. Sparring is done to rules, you don't do the nasty stuff, you don't carry on when they surrender, you don't stomp them. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about so don't step up contradicting those who do as though have the slightest clue sonny.
