Hey there, fellow travelers! Today's adventure? Taming the curious case of the noises in my Happijac Camper Jacks. Think humming meets gear-rubbing, all in a camper's day's work.
But surprise, surprise! The source of the hubbub wasn't what I expected. A gear was cozying up to the plastic housing - who knew it was looking for a friend?
While on this quest, I stumbled upon some worn-out bearings and an uppity upper o-ring. Time for these parts to retire gracefully.
Oh, the acme screw shaft? It had a touch of rust. I gave it some attention and polish - nothing like a little spa treatment.
To keep the calm, I greased the 4150 acme screw and treated the 4500 ball screw to some oil therapy. Smooth sailing ahead!
So, join me in this maintenance escapade. From gear surprises to worn-out wonders, I'm sharing all the deets to keep your Happijac Camper Jacks working like a charm. With these fixes, my jacks are all set for more adventures. Don't forget to hit that like button, subscribe, and ring the bell for more RV tips and tales. Happy travels, and let's keep those campers rolling smoothly!

Thanks for the comment, after I saw some guys using hammers and stuff on them, I thought I should probably make one myself to see if I really needed a hammer 😁

Thanks for the video. My 2001 Bigfoot camper has 4 4100 jacks on it. One is making a lot of noise in one area of it's travel. I ordered parts and will tackle this when they come in.

I'm tempted to add some white grease to the plastic guide bushings and the steel where they slide. It will slide easier with side load but it will also attract dust to stick to the grease. Did you lube the sliding interfaces at all?

the 4100 jack has smaller thrust bearing (1/2" x 15/16"), no brake, and it uses a plastic nut on the lead screw as opposed to recirculating balls. I'm wondering if oil or lithium grease would be best to use on the acme screw with plastic nut.

On the legs themselves? I'm having a hard time remembering where a plastic guide bushing is..... I'm thinking you are talking about the legs, but mine didn't have any plastic guides/slides on them. I think I saw a comment late so this is probably not correct or just confusing things.. but I'll leave it here anyway..

Didn't see this comment until just now, You're saying the ACME lead screw is nylon or plastic that's inside the leg? If so, that's probably a "DRY" lead screw they do not need lubrication as they provide their own by just regular wear I think. Is the lead screw making noise for you? I know you can pickup new dry lead screws in a few places.

Thank you so much for the video, I picked up a 2005 Host Tahoe from a bank repo auction and of course the jacks are a mess, your video saved my butt on re-assembly! I forgot how I took it apart lol

Anyone know the part number or where someone might look for that brake spring?
@NowWeRoam
@NowWeRoam 3 месяца назад
I'm pretty sure the part number is "brake spring #149435", I have a feeling it's part that only they will have, have you tried to call lippert to see if they can source the spring for you?

Thank you for the video!! just came across your channel. I picked up a truck camper yesterday with the happijac 4150, 4160 jacks. 3 of the 4 need work. Your video will help me take apart and put them back together. do you recall the part numbers of the bearing and o-ring? where did you order them from? I would like to order them. I'm also having issues with two of the four jacks (up front when I lifted the camper to load it into my truck) making a grinding sound and not lifting the camper 😵‍💫😵. I had to take weight off the jack and then lift almost like there wasn't enough power or there was too much weight to raise the camper. Not sure what to expect when i take them apart. Hoping it's just the gears. I haven't been able to find success in replacement parts though. any insight would be appreciated!

Hey Meck, sounds like you have a project ahead of you for sure, in regards to the front jacks grinding were they grinding or making a ratcheting sound? I picked the bearings and O rings up here locally in Denver, I can get you the part numbers as they should be able to be found online somewhere for sure.
