@@miguelchavez4515 I know that singing folk guitar isn’t going to solve the crisis in the Church, and I’m pretty sure that Bishop Barron realizes that as well. Never did anyone say here that anyone thinks that this is an attempt by Bishop Barron to solve any problems in the church. It’s just a lovely little light hearted few-minute video of a bishop sharing one of his talents and talking about one of his favorite Christian songs. This video does absolutely no harm. Is Bishop Barron not allowed to express any of his personal interests?

@@miguelchavez4515 Besides, I bet this video has brought at least a few people just a bit closer to God, as it serves as a bridge in between the secular world and the church. I can’t think of any harm this video can do.

That's really insightful Pat. As young Catholic who is more adverse to having Guitar music in the Mass due to how poor and profance it can be a lot of the time. It's interesting to understand some of the intentions and motivations of those who bought the guitar into the liturgy. And it is somewhat understandable given the excellence of Bob Dylan that people in the Church back then thought that a replication of that penetrating spirituality of his music in the Liturgy would enrich it. Unfortunately it seems it did not translate well into the Liturgy... maybe leading many not to stay. This is of course not to say guitar music has no place in the Church, but it is to say that it dose not have a place in the Liturgy. There are I believe many opportunities outside of the Liturgy yet within the Church which guitar music can and should be used and that can have a spiritually pernetrating effect in which those in the 70s intended.
