Like the U.S. military, members of the Lithuanian Armed Forces swear an oath to defend their Constitution and their Republic. Their profession exists to serve the state - to protect the basic rights, privileges, and freedoms of the average citizen. Since 1918, the world has seen ever-evolving security challenges that threaten these basic rights. Throughout its proud existence, the men and women of Lithuania’s Armed Forces have met these challenges with courage and competence.
History has shown the indispensable nature of alliances. The United States of America is proud to stand alongside the Lithuanian Armed Forces and the Lithuanian people as members of the greatest Alliance the world has ever known, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
