Thank you everyone for 12k subs and 1 million channel views! I'm so grateful for your support.
Hope you have had a Happy Easter - this was filmed on #Easter Sunday. Today I am discussing my week with you and how I felt it went. Later I discuss having personal #boundaries within my content, and then I ask for your feedback as I struggle to learn how handle being a late diagnosed #autistic person who has a public forum on the internet. I am learning how to best deal with getting constant feedback that comes with having a following, both good and bad, in a healthy way. Perhaps we could call this growing pains? I am so grateful for my lovely #community we have built together, but I am still learning on how to balance it with my personal needs. I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

Best to everyone today! Aw, I am the lady that mentioned maybe some community guidelines. It's sweet that you read it. It was just an idea. If I misunderstood anything, it's because I ALSO have a fear of being misunderstood, or worse, causing something unpleasant emotionally for anyone. And that is, of course, my own thing, and definitely not you or Taylor misrepresenting anything. I like your perspective on the guidelines, and your bunny ears are great! I understand the social overwhelm and have it just from trying to participate a little more in the comments, so I can't imagine what it's like for you... Social situations can have a pull and a push at the same time. The comment section feels a lot like being in person to me, so I'm discovering I need to limit my time, because every (non troll) commenter is real & important & if I can't go to an in-person party every day... or once a month... or even a few times a year... why do I think I can handle commenting every day? lol. ( I can't. I don't know why, but it's ok.). It makes sense that I need to sometimes just hit the like instead. :) We all have different limits & it's important to honor them. I'm sure you will find the right balance for you, & I'm glad you have creator friends, because you can't be the only one that's felt this way. Take care and thank you!

Well I appreciate you sharing the idea because it is important to think about different Ideas, i know that most people don't want to put any pressure on the creators (good or bad) I can understand how guidelines might be helpful. But I am also not sure if they are what would be good for this particular channel. Will keep thinking it over.

The tour with my son and his new school last week was great! They said he had great functional communication, and they looked forward to working with him! His first day is tomorrow. I'm so excited but also a little nervous. It's about an hour away, so I'm a little nervous about how he'll handle the commute. Hope you have a good week, Claire and friends! 💞

Congratulations on your kiddo getting to a place where his needs can be better met. I had the same concern when my youngest got into a school with more appropriate accommodations as well. It is half an hour away if the traffic is good and they don't get caught by a train. He compartmentalizes life and uses the commute as delineation or transitioning period between home and school.

You're gorgeous Claire, keep doing what you're doing. If you can't handle the negative comments, block them. If you don't understand them, ignore them. Focus on the positive feedback, because like you've said before you do your content the way you want it, and if other people don't like it, well that's their problem, not yours because you're just explaining your own experiences as a yarn/autistic lady. Your bunnies are super cute. Enjoyed your outro.

I get it about learning not to over share. In the last year or so I have been trying to not be so open on my Facebook page. It is just small scale in comparison. But I learned I didn't need to share so much especially to acquaintances and others. I agree that it does feel good to be in control in that area of sharing or not sharing certain things. Had a nice Easter weekend getaway with just my close family. Just right and so fun. 😊

It’s a pretty cute song. I think the problem with a large amount of information is always having ti process through it. I’ve been openly online(with my actual name) since 2005. I’ve written and been a photographer for a local news site. I’ve written computer part reviews for a website and done a lot of other online stuff. I had to stop caring to much about the negative. Believe me people who have never taken a good photo in their lives can become photography critics over night. I’ve also entered photos in photography contexts and received a ton of positive feedback. You kind of have to time limit processing the information. I would take me days to process through all the stuff. When I wrote an article and people liked it the same would happen. I have a lot of stuff to do when I’m not burned out so I had to limit stuff to not make it burn me out. Which is a pity because sometimes it’s pretty cool to receive a bunch of compliments on something you’ve done. Sorry about the long paragraph lol. 😂 My week was pretty peaceful. Did some gardening watched a bunch of Netflix. But peaceful is getting boring. Which means I’m going to have to pace myself so I don’t get back to normal to fast and extend the burnout longer than it needs to be. I bought 100 summer bee and butterfly friendly flower bulbs I will be planting this years should be pretty colorful in the garden. I still will also have a bunch of eatable stuff the chamomile forest is already growing. Hopefully it will be a fruitful season. Thanks for reminding me that I can’t believe a word people say today. I tend to forget April fools day every year as well. Have a good Week Claire and friends.

Thank you for sharing. I have no advice about handling comments as I barely get any on my numerous blogs, except to say that sometimes the negativity of a tiny minority drowns out the positivity of the overwhelming majority on the internet, in other media, and in daily life. i love rambling thoughts and the those vulnerable bits are what make porch coffee magic 🌈 I don't think there is a good way to handle all that stuff. I think a lot of us have trouble handling our own internal dialogue, so I can't imagine processing and trying to let all the other stuff roll off and not become a drain. You are doing a great job and being very graceful as you go about it. I can't even imagine having the strength to do what you, and other creators, do. As channels grow, creators often switch to spending an hour after a video's launch interacting in the comments section and then just withdraw from it. I'm thinking it would probably be more achievable/practical to set limits for yourself, at your end, than to hope to police all the randos out here. Whatever you decide, we'll support you.

Wow you have had a busy week, boundaries are a good thing, you definately don't have to share everything at all, I don't think anyone in the community would expect you to share everything. The first thing is to take time for yourself, always. I understand exactly what you were saying about comments I cannot imagine how demanding and difficult it must be to deal with the comments that come flooding in, especially as your channel grows. It's a lot for anyone on a day to day basis to deal with, you can only do what you can do at the end of the day. Porch coffee is a nice part of my routine and although we don't really know each other I like to think we are internet friends. I loved the baby blanket you made it was very colourful. I don't celebrate Easter really but I wish Happy Easter to you and the community and for those that celebrate. 😊. I haven't done much this week myself, I've been updating furniture and storage in our house one piece at a time and I have finally started my cross stitch which I bought 4 years ago it's 32 pages of A4 pattern.... I think I took on more than I can chew but we will see 😆, it's a 32CT too so it's going to be huge when it's finished....it's called Mixed Berries Dragons, by Stanley Morrison, which I bought on Etsy. I love it but I might still be stitching when I'm 70 at this rate 😂. Have a good week. 😊

There ought to be a RU-vid support group made up of Autistic content creators for exactly this reason. Whatever life throws at us we all have the right to set our own boundaries and have people respect those. Its much easier to understand my limits than try to understand anybody else. Also as my Granny used to say treat people as you wish to be treated yourself. Simple but effective messaging for all 😊

Hello! I understand this all so much as a former blogger/artist/author. Disclosure and life on the internet was such overwhelm. In my case, I ran and have yet to truly figure out climbing back in comfortably beyond comments here. I think it is great you are recognizing and giving yourself permission to not disclose all. That is a good beginning. There is way too much expectation of living your whole life in front of a camera when it comes to being online that can become intrusive and detrimental to mental health. I am not sure what else to advise other than you need to do what is good for you. As to guidelines...Hmm... some basic kindness is a good given but not sure there is anything that fits all. Unfortunately, there will always be those who dare rudeness in the face of rules. The delete button is made for such. Beyond that, not sure what I would advise. Love the bunny ears by the way and the idea of a free swap meet even though I can imagine the peopling would be something to deal with for my senses as well. Hope your Easter was great. Ours was a mellow one. My youngest deemed age 11 too old for egg hunting so we had a chill day just hanging out, playing board games and listening to 70s tunes. Still helping my oldest with life right now and probably will be for the long term, but making the most of it. Blessings on your week, friend. Keep being you. ❤

The weak will always attempt to pull down the strong. The miserable person will seek to snuff the joy of the happy. I pity them tbh. I cannot imagine living a life that the only joy I get is in making others less. Truly sad. As I build up my channel structure I find myself questioning these same things of wondering if maybe YT is ‘not the platform for me’, but I also think - we all deserve to be here and just need help holding each other up sometimes. Looking from past experiences online, I realized that sometimes I was posting somewhere that I was not welcomed or posting things that were niche or otherwise got misunderstood. All of these past experiences of mistakes I made in my online life leave me so chilly about starting again with the new information and outlook for myself. I don’t understand *social anything* let alone social media, so I yearn for some kind of connection with other humans without the expectation of linking a friendship - I understand YT more than any other and it provides a place for expressing myself in forms longer than 30 seconds, and I’m at the step now where I’m telling myself that with the long distance nod from other folks in our shoes - this can help me in trying to thicken my skin (what I need currently) knowing folks see me doing it from across the room this time, not anonymously on a forum somewhere where folks give 0 f*cks. All this to say we are here to boost you up and solidify your foundations no matter how you decide to tweak your channel to make it more comfortable for you to be you 🖤!

Oh🥰, bunnies on the outro! And I can't stop imagine You sitting there acting normal, drinking coffee and talk about wool with a perfectly made third eye on your forhead (do You know any special effects male up-artist?). That would be a good aprils fool😅. OMG, pleeeaaase! And I am sorry, I cannot give any good advice to Your question. I would DIE putting myself into the internet with my real face and name, noooo, personal nightmare. I am very thankful You all do, that is so brave. The RSD would kill me. I mean, one bad comment You don't sleep a week, evem if aöl the other comments are nice, that is something even NTs say. But I don't think You have to give "accurate advice" or whatever like a lawyer I visit. It is the personal experience of peers, other NDs I am here for. Exchange with others. If I hear something new and interesting I can give it a good deep dive investigation. I mean, I would do anyways😂 My week was....😶 A good thing was netflix germany added a lot of "classic" crime serials. I spent some hours with Monk, happy to be able to watch all episodes first time. Did look up the text of the "newer" title-song to check if I heard it correctly, (love it) and by doing so found a nice fansite with sidefacts to every episode. So when I saw this early morning that DEXTER is also new added I didn't know if I should be exited or more afraid of not beeing able to manage both... Had to watch the first episode for sentimental memories. It is only in english with german subtitles, not the dubbed version I know. Damn! And then I found out it is different to the version I saw, a 18+ version. So it is decided, I have to rewatch all seasons. A weird woman has to do what a weird wan.has to do🤷🏽‍♀️

Yay I'm actually here in the morning for once, cute buuuuuns! 🐇🐰 I wish I could give some useful advice, but right now I'm fixated on the idea of this angry person that wants a single, massive cake for 1200 people... and tomorrow, the audacity! (16:04) /joking An approach that helps me generally with life's 💩 is to set aside daily 'review time' to help deal with things like negative thoughts, stressors, etc. Then throughout the day I record what happened, how it made me feel and allow myself to move on knowing I'll revisit it later. Most of the time I'll feel differently about things, or if not, be able to take action in a more thoughtful, less reactionary way. Another thing I do is to practice mindfulness prior to engaging with potential triggers, such as reading correspondence or interacting with others (work email and meetings, for example). I think this could help you manage your comments. Really helps me feel more in control of myself and thoughts, more objective.

Happy Easter Claire! Hope you and everyone has a good week. ❤ This past week I have been struggling with anxiety. Something I learned to help with whenever I'm anxious or worried is to have a list of my worries/fears written down on paper, and then to have a written list of counterarguments/reality for my fears. Then, I can read the list whenever my anxiety flares up. I can totally relate to oversharing, sometimes it makes me so embarrassed afterwards. Also, in regards to setting boundaries, I think it's definitely ok to not have to say everything you did in the past week, especially since this channel is growing. In addition, I think community guidelines is a great idea.

I really appreciate being able to hear how you process your ideas around how to exist online. I mean, I have a lot of anxiety around being seen/perceived out in the world in general but also the amount of incoming information we are dealing with. It's a lot to process. For me it's all about the breaks. I have a tendency to just ghost everyone lol. But I think my people understand that's just how I am. And that probably wouldn't translate too well to content creation! The idea about guidelines got me thinking. Maybe if you wrote yourself some guidelines - just for yourself - to help you be able to filter the information, that could be potentially useful? For example. Hate comment: delete. Questionable comments: do not engage. Good faith comments: Interact with for maximum of x hours...etc.

I understand what you mean. I won't go anywhere, I'll admit. I figured it doesn't matter anymore for me. I'm 50. I overshare. At least that's what people tell me. Oh, and that I'm evil and I shouldn't share. If I don't share who I am I'm lying, but if I do, I'm attacked. I agree that everybody is allowed to comment on what they want and I believe in free speech... I also don't want to attract the kind of things that would give off the wrong impression about me... I also want to make a good impression on young people and children... As soon as I get a negative comment or what I perceive to be a negative comment, I want to quit every time, and people tell me I should (not be on the Internet). Especially when people only see one video, and make their assumptions off that. And of course it's the good old imposter syndrome and rejection sensitivity dysphoria... If I don't take a break it will consume me. Shorts are only because I can't edit the long ones without burnout. Also, accident or not, I'm really digging the extra music at the end... Many influencers don't read their comments at all. I'd still watch your videos even if you never liked or replied, even though it is nice when you do. The responsibility we feel towards our audience as influencers is always much bigger and heavier than it is from the audience's perspective: to you this is a huge part of your life, to your audience you're just one among many people they/we follow. In other words, what you do regarding comments doesn't affect us as much as you think it does. People are way too preoccupied with their own problems. Hope that helps. It applies generally in life as well. ❤

I'm sorry you are going through this period of so many questions. Something I've found helpful at my work is making a list of 'must have', 'Should have' and 'Misc' tasks, your categories may vary. I then rate them by the level of value it brings for me to do those tasks and the level of stress it brings me. If it's a high-stress and low-value task, is there someone I can give that to or can I simply ignore it. If its high-value and low stress, I try to front and back load my days with those so I ease into and out of the stressful parts. I'll also need to just sit and think of this because it's making me reevaluate a few things at work.

I am of the opinion my feelings are my responsibillity. What helps me with negative comments is trying to look from there perspective. If i think they have a point then i am like ok i agree. And then i decide in a different moment if i want to do something about it or not. When i am not in a good headspace or don´t feel good otherwise i don´t look for negative things. So in a situation as comments like you get on vids... I would say don´t look untill you feel better so it does not kick in as hard (hope this makes sense? english is sometimes hard for me) If you feel like a comment is just plain rude. Then i hope you one day can be like it's there problem. Sometimes it helps for me to think they are having a bad they and only can say negative things, I probably should not take it personal. (easier said then done) As far as guidelines i would be like... free speech is a bigger thing... If someone gets offended it's the responsebility of the person reading it to take good care of themself and not reading or typing if they can not handle there own. You can not police others only yourself. And when making a mistake we are al human and hope we can learn from it and say sorry.

Absolutely had to listen to the end. Awesome! And the bunnies ❤😍 My week was… eventful. Came down with a flu. I thought. But my breath sounded weird and the fever got pretty high so went to the doctor just in case. Doctor did some tests and called me an ambulance. When I stepped into the ambulance my thought was mainly “wow first time in the ambulance for me, exciting” - glad they already let me know they wouldn’t turn the sirens on😅 The EMT later told me my sat was 84% at that point and I was looking blue-ish 😮 Lots of tests at the hospital. Turned out to be a double pneumonia (they feared for a lung embolism for a while so also had a CT scan) but the antibiotics are working well. Going home tomorrow woohoo!!!

If 12,000 people came to see me, I think I would run away and hide! I know what you mean about the social events - once I had to go to two parties in one day, one of them not knowing more than two people there, and afterwards I went home and slept for 11 hours. That is not something I would make myself do again (I mean the two parties in one day; I’m sure I will sleep for 11 hours again!) I know some people have somebody else read the comments for them; I’m not sure if that would be an option for you. But whatever you choose, I just want to say I really enjoy watching your channel.

Before I realized my neurotype I had 1.5y stint doing Twitch streaming full time and I completely understand what you mean about the emotional weight of having eyes and commentary on you. I think it ties into that whole bit about us not liking "being perceived". In my case it was in the form of live chats that accompanied my streams every day and an active discord community I had created. I felt immense pressure to actively chat in my community every day and make sure everyone felt seen and heard - just treating them like I would want to be treated myself! Of course, that's unrealistic for one person to maintain that many social connections on a daily basis, let alone an autist like me. lol. You're already on the right path in focusing on your own wants/needs/boundaries and protecting your own energy. It is much easier said than done, huh? For the record, each time you worry out loud about whether us listeners will be affected by your commentary- just know that there are people like myself who are relating to it and find it relevant because they're still thinking of getting into content creation! Happy to listen to whatever you'd like to share about your content creation and entrepreneurial journey. It's a dream for many of us to "do our own thing", please talk about it at will!

Hi, Claire. In MHO, you’re doing so well. Communicating, respecting, and standing up for yourself. I’m also late diagnosed. 63, after my also late diagnosed daughter (43) said, Mom, I think you’re autistic. Bunny!!! 💜 Cute bunny ears. Congrats again on 12k subs and 1 million views. I'm not sure if comment guidelines would help. Where would these guidelines be? Would people even read them? I know some RU-vidrs have their spouse, a friend, hire someone... to go through comments and get rid of trolls and anything that wouldn't be good for the youtubers' mental health before the youtuber looks at the comments. I think that's because these creators were getting a lot of hate comments. Not sure if something like that would help. It wouldn't help with livestreams or messages elsewhere, like for hats. I don't have a channel so I have no other ideas of what may help. I do know a lot of creators I watch complain about the algorithm. Just keep doing what feels good to you. Good luck. 😅 I hate April Fool's day... I hope you had a good Easter.

With regards to protecting yourself from burnout, I suggest taking time off for several weeks and see what happens. As an experiment. It's terrifying, but my experience has been that people stay. Just announce it beforehand and people will go on with their lives and will barely even notice that you didn't upload in a few weeks. You'll end up having to do that anyway if you burn out (as most influencers do), so get ahead of it. Do it as an experiment! Highly recommend.

I’m sure you did great and were well-loved at the baby shower!❤ Claire I totally get it about the comments, and how some of them can be mean and unhelpful. I do think community guidelines is a great idea; it would stop people in their tracks before typing something mean. If you want to know how to handle unhelpful comments that slip through, I think that you need to ignore such comments. And remember that those commenters have to be very unhappy and insecure people. If you aren’t able to handle bad comments, then you have to take good care of yourself….and decide if you want to continue in the youtube space. You may find more positive, supportive people in the Instagram space. Or maybe take a break from any internet space. You matter and how you feel matters. ❤ Community guidelines might be a good first step, and then see if that weeds out the nasty stuff. I appreciate and admire your honesty.

i will think about the guidelines, i am not sure yet they are the way i want to go, although i do see what people are saying. i think it is more of all the feedback on the whole, good or bad. also the growing scheduling and demands, that kind of thing i want to make sure i am taking care of myself

I don’t think it’s healthy to read all of your comments when your channel is any bigger than very very small. It’s too much feedback. We’re not meant to take in that much feedback. Honestly, even if it was all positive, it’s not helpful. It can make you feel like: gosh, people like how I’ve done it so much, I better not make any changes even though I’m growing and changing as a person… But no! Grow and change! THAT’S what is normal. I know a lot of bigger channels that just read some comments a couple hours after they post a video, heart or respond to their favorites, and then they never check back to read more. They have other stuff to do. Honestly, the comments section isn’t your job. We’re not here because your videos are alright, but WE LOVE THE COMMENTS. You know? The comments section is just a bonus but where we can connect a bit. So how much connecting is helpful for you? That’s probably where I’d start.
