Remember watching this at my dads house all the time. No matter how many times we watched it we always died laughing. I wish I could see my dad and brother more.
This song brings me back to my childhood without fail each and every time I hear it. I watched movies like Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison on repeat as a child. If I’m ever itching to feel nostalgia again, I know that this song will always bring me that comfort. I just rewatched Happy Gilmore again today and it hit the same as it did all those years ago.
I almost come to tears when i hear this song again, reminds me of the good old days i really miss the 90s and 00s life was so much better back when no one had mobiles!
My name is Happy Gilmore. Ever since I was old enough to skate, I loved hockey... wasn't the greatest skater though. But that didn't stop my dad from teaching me the secret of slapping the greatest slap-shot. My dad worshiped hockey, my mom didn't, that's why she moved to Egypt, where there's not a hockey rink within 15 hundred miles. Dad always took me to games to cheer for our favorite player, Terry O'Riley, the Tasmanian Devil. He wasn't the biggest guy in the league, but he feared nobody, just like me. (shot of dad's face) Handsome fellow huh? He always said that when I grew up I could be anything I wanted to be, but I never wanted to be anything but a hockey player. Yeah my childhood was going great, but life is full of surprises. After the funeral, I was sent to live with my grandma in Waterberry. I was kinda nervous since I really didn't know her that well, but she dressed like Gene Simmons from KISS to cheer me up, she's the sweetest person in the world. See after my dad died I developed kinda a short fuse. You see that kid over there just stole my party blower, and instead of asking for it back, I felt that I had to belt him in the head a bunch of times with a hammer. Look at me go. But I was always quick to say I was sorry. During high school I played junior hockey and still hold two league records; most time spent in the penalty box, and I was the only guy to ever take off his skate and try to stab someone. After I graduated I had a lot of different jobs; I was a road worker, a janitor, a security guard, a gas station attendant, and a plumber. Lately I've been working construction, it's not a bad racket, I'm a pretty good shot with a nail gun, but one day my boss, Mr. Larson, uh got in the way. Apparently he also has a short fuse. Look at that monster. He got a few lucky punches in there, but I still feel I won the fight. Anyways, those other jobs weren't for me. I was put on this planet for one reason, to play hockey.
As soon as I heard this tune in the movie, I was like: Huh, this guitar riff sound familiar, kind of similar to that song "Simple man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. It turns out "Tuesday's gone" is actually by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Awesome song. Everyone who is thinking the same should check out that beautiful cover of "Simple man" by Deftones. The song is a masterpiece.
To be young full of joy and laughs is what this song reminds me of I guess just appreciating my sence of innocence as a kid watching this movie will forever be a vibe. I love the internet
it almost 17 years ago im a fukin kid laying on my bed watching this movie and laughing bad :) adam sandler is the only actor who gives me tears and laugh now on my 31 years old :,(
I watched this with my brother this past summer. I thought this movie was gonna be stupid, because a lot of Sandler's stuff is but this movie was hilarious.
i really like this song & movie alllllll though this was realesd in 1996 the best part in this movie when he use the hockey stick or what ever it called to play in golf that was kinda funny

There is another Happy Gilmore song that is NOWHERE ON THE INTERNET! It's after Chubba sings "We've Only Just Begun", it plays when happy is having his comeback.
When I was a kid I always thought this song was made for the movie. It wasn't until years later I figured out what it actually was. They couldn't have picked a better opening track.

couldn't find the instrumental anywhere. :( such a shame. it's so much better imo. Wonder how the makers of the movie got the instrumental. Surely it must be out there somewhere?
Does anyone else think it's really sad to see how old Adam Sandler is now? He was only 23 when he played Happy Gilmore, he's now 52! Just the feeling that I missed so many Actors peak in their career during my childhood is kinda sad.
