Hi Nikki & Steven. The guy at the end who said "Groovy " was Bruce Campbell who played Ash Williams from the original Evil Dead (1981)..that movie is scary but hilarious at the same time!
Great remake that brings the horror without dumbing it down to cheap scares. Gorefest at the highest level with such a dreadful atmosphere. I was worried when it got released as remakes often soil reputations but this lived up to the hype. Directed by Fede Alvarez who also did Don't Breathe with Jane Levy as well, another great movie.
Pretty sure this movie holds the world record for the most amount of fake blood ever used in a film. They used over 70,000 gallons. It's quite literally the bloodiest movie ever!
I have to say all these years later I haven't seen a final girl like Mia, she played the druggie, the villain, the victim, the survivor and the final girl ❤
The closest I have seen is Mia from the Resident Evil 7 videogame, who is based on her character. She doesn't become the heroine, but you do get to play as her.
Fun Fact: There were two different endings where Mia was picked up from the road. One ending in particular was where the driver was revealed to be Ash from the previous trilogy.
@@nilesstark oyf it was a draft, things get moved around all the time. Originally the brother was supposed to survive. Another version was he also turned.
I don’t think I could be more disappointed at the phrase “I don’t know who that gentleman was.” My soul hurts from that lol That was Bruce Campbell, star of the original trilogy and the series.
@@greywater3186 For one, it was a joke, in the same way I felt when a much younger kid that worked with me , who was a metalhead like I am, was describing this “cool new band” that had “cool album covers” that he was listening to. Then he asked if I had heard of them, and said “Iron Maiden”. I had the same reaction. Second, Bruce Campbell is pretty well known, Evil Dead and Ash Vs. Evil Dead aren’t the only things he’s done. He’s also in the fairly newly released Evil Dead game. But mostly, it was just a joke.
@@clonexx How could you insult Grey like that? Implying that he's an uncultured idiot because he doesn't know who Bruce Campbell is. Can't you see how easily he's offended? Please apologize and in the future be a little more sensitive.
I love when people go into watching this movie not knowing what to expect. I mean, even some reactors who saw the original two have no idea just how far this version is gonna go with the practical effects and buckets of blood. I love it because the reactions always ends up priceless! I laughed so hard watching this. Thanks for such a great time!
I gotta give Nikki and Steven alot of credit for sitting through and watching one of my favorite horror movies ever. There are quite a few people that couldn't finish the whole movie. The raining blood scene is stunning and epic, I want a poster of it. Fedi Alvarez did a phenomenal job directing this. Mia is a beast and one of the best final girls ever. Happy Halloween y'all. 🎃🎃
No she’s not she hood but not even close to the best or one of the best just my opinion I think sienna from Terrifier 2 had a more difficult time with the villain than she did in this movie and she’s also acts better than Mia in this movie sienna is the best fI so girl since the Jamie lee era and Sydney Prescott era and if you don’t belong watch Terrifier 2 it’s a great movie not for the faint of heart tho but if you like this movies and it’s practical effects you’ll appreciate Terrifier 2 it’s making headlines and sirens is being called one of the best horror girls ever. And art is being called one of the greatest horror villains ever created
@@Nixxxdraven art being called one of the greatest horror villains by whom? terrifier fans? no idea why it have such dedicated fanbase trying to convince other people how great it is with words, not with an actual terrifier dilogy value. for me- it seems forced af. both terrifiers are good, but nothing more. imo- its not rewatchable, like evil dead. but well, you do you dude about girls in terrifiers- come on, they acted good? Bruce Willis acting lately is way better then they do, and you know, Willis acting is like watching stump acting.
As a fellow uruguayan I'm so happy for Fede Álvarez, he's an awesome person and the fact that this was his debut film, on another country and language will always impress me
The original is from 1981 and it is - without a doubt - one of the all time horror classics. It kinda started the full body gore genre of the 80s. And the little cabin in this move had been shown in a ton of horror movies since. The new version of 2013 is a very good remake (just my personal opinion), because it reinvented the story but kept some of the most outstanding scenes. A good horror sequel that stays true to the original, without becoming a cheep copy is quite rare. Oh well, we had Hellraiser 2022. That one rocks, as well 😉
The first movie was a student film with barely any money to make it with... But once it got a bit of a following, they got some more cash to remake the original. So, I think ED2 is a great starting place. I prefer the clasic movies, ED2 & ED3, mainly because I was watching those movies a long time before seeing the 2013 version. I do like the new one, but Bruce as Ash, & all the hilarious chaos, is just so much more fun. 🤣 Btw, the sequel to this movie is coming next year, & Bruce Campbell is coming back as Ash, chainsaw-arm included! Gotta love Sam Raimi...He may have gone mainstream, but he still knows how to be creepy! 🤘😁
Evil Dead 2 will be forever my favorite of the franchise, but I really love the remake, for completely different reasons, and that's a good thing. Normally, a remake will just try to copy the original (and this particular it would've been nigh impossible to replicate the dark humour, so I'm glad they didn't even try) and fail miserably, but this one - as you said - did it's own thing while staying true to some of the staples of the franchise. The dead serious tone, the excessive gore and brutality, the twist with Mia, the whole "going cold turkey subplot addition, it all contributes to making this iteration unique and a fun watch. It's not perfect, I have issues with it (the whole 5 souls thing, the needless intro that gives away too much and leaves you to wonder why the f*ck they would leave the book there, the necronomicon having English footnotes and warnings, some characters being underdevelopped, etc.) but I can look pass them and thoroughly enjoy this movie still.
Always gives me major anxiety to watch the bury alive scene cause the actor actually buried her alive and was on a time schedule to unbury her before the actress suffocated. Like. Crazy. Also the peeing scene was real too.
No joke, this is my favorite horror movie. I never got that into the original Evil Deads because they were too campy for my taste, but no other movie has satisfied my love for good, brutal bloodletting like this film. And that ending shot of her killing the demon in front of the cabin is one of the most gorgeously violent endings I've ever seen. Freaking love it!
Same. Very very good horror. I re-watch this all the time. I can't say that about the original, even though it was innovative somewhat. Still like them, but very campy
Everyone I know refused to watch this with me, so I went to the theater and watched this movie by myself. So rewatching this with you two was just a blast. Thanks for sharing this on Halloween!
@@NikkiStevenReact Nikki that gentleman at the end was Ash the protagonist of the original Evil dead movies(=this one is a remake love u both and the actor is Bruce Campbell he also has a series Ash VS Evil Dead 2015-2018 and he also produced this one .Greetings from portugal sorry for the english.
I absolutely adore this movie. Such a good remake and everything I look for in a fun horror movie experience. It's best watched with some mates and a few beers, particularly if they've never watched it before
The guy at the end is Bruce Campbell, he was the hero in the original Evil dead series and hes an absolute legend. He directed this film along with Sam Raimi :)
I love the final line of Mia in the Brazilian dub version The demon Said "I'm gonna devour your soul", and she said "no, you're gonna devour this" and then put the chainsaw in his mouth
BEST HALLOWEEN EVER! I watched this movie just so I could watch your reaction right after. Thank you so much, keep giving us these wonderful reactions!
omg, i love this one such a clasic. Nikki facial expressions are always the best haha! I know we are supouse to be scared here but she just make me laugh so much "oh bit** oh no!" xD
9:45 😂😂😂 I did the same thing to my wife at the same time. Although she only hit me and refrained from cursing due to us watching at her moms house. I made sure and stopped at our favorite ice-cream shop before we got home.❤❤😂😂😂
The guy at the end is Bruce Campbell who played Ash Williams(famous for his chainsaw hand and boom-stick/shotgun)in the original Evil Dead movies and Ash Vs Evil Dead series
That is practical FX vs CGI. The originals are a must watch. I won't let my kids see this till I feel they are old enough for the originals. Cause this flick takes it to level 12 😆. Glad you all liked it.
That guy at the very end who said "Groovy" was Bruce Campbell. He played Ash Williams from the original Evil Dead movie from 1981. He also made the chainsaw such an iconic weapon from that movie too. lol
Yay!! Not enough reactors react to this! It’s one my fav Halloween movies I watch almost every year!! One of the few remakes that was better than the original imo!! You guys should do “Mama” or “Lights out” for your next scary movie or “The Exorcism of Emily Rose” & “Hell House”
Fun fact: The ending you guys got was not the theatrical ending. It was an alternate ending. And when Mia’s eyes opened at the end, they were supposed to be Deadite eyes, but they weren’t added in because this ending was not planned to be used. At least in the main version.
Damn, the stinger at the end went totally over your heads. That was the King himself, Ash Williams. This is why I never recommend watching a remake over the original first.
You guys seemed to really enjoy that! I hope that means you'll be at least going back and watching Evil Dead 2 (it's a retelling of the original Evil Dead so you can go right to that one if you want) and then maybe Army of Darkness and Ash vs The Evil Dead! Love the reactions and hope to see you guys enjoy more! PS- These are some of my favorites in the genre too! The comedy mixed in makes it so good imo.
Great reaction guys! Everytime you would freak out about something all I could think was, "It gets worse." You should definitely check out the other movies in the series if only to compare them to this one.
Can we appreciate how much Nikki has grown in how much she can stomach this stuff now? A couple years ago, she would’ve fled the room five minutes into this movie 😂
The director Fede Alvarez walked with the actor for David (Shiloh Fernandez) out Into the woods and and left him there to walk back alone so that he would be believably stressed out for filming the burial scene.
"I don't think there's enough blood in this movie?" "Excuse me?" "We need more blood. I've got tubs left over." "Dude, how can we possibly rationalize more blood?" "Remember how it's suppose to rain in the last scene." "Um, yeah?" "Use blood. Replace the water with blood. Don't even explain it in the movie." "....You're a genius."
"Groovy" is said by Bruce Campbell AKA Ash Williams who pioneered this franchise - from the original 80s cult classic to the new series! You HAVE to watch and react to Ash vs Evil Dead. It's one of the best shows ever!
You guys probably should've gone with the original, it was so funny!...& it's an absolute classic! Though, if you do watch the original, just watch 'Evil Dead 2,' since ED2 is just a remake of ED1. The first movie was literally a college student film. ED2 is great, but ED3:Army of the Dead is BONKERS! Hilarious AF! A much watch for a funny Halloween movie!
As someone who has suffered with addiction, what they did was absolutely insane bc you can die from withdrawal. With Opioids you can have severe body aches, insomnia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, chills, body sensitivity, etc. which can lead to dehydration and in some cases seizures. It’s also unlikely to work bc the pain can be unbearable making recovery much harder and they likely to OD trying to stop the withdrawal or refuse to recover all together to not experience withdrawal again. So it’s safer and you are more likely to recover at a treatment center where you can be monitored by doctors so they can give you medications to ease withdrawal symptoms. If cold turkey is the route they wanted to go, they should have slowly weened her off the drug, giving her low doses of it, so the withdrawals wouldn’t be as bad. It’s just not recommended to do it this way bc you are less likely to recover and relapse is usually inevitable in a lot of these cases.
One of the most solid reboots that earned its place. It also brought Bruce Campbell back into the spotlight which is great for him. Ash (the “groovy” guy) is the protagonist of the 3 original Evil Dead movies. 1 was a low budget college film, 2 is essentially a remake of 1 with a better budget and a little more meat on the bones and a little more absurdity, and 3 is a direct continuation of 2 and a genre mix of horror, fantasy, and comedy so each movie is unique in its own right and worth watching. Can’t say anything about the show since I haven’t seen it.
Honestly, if anyone has ever asked me what's the greatest horror remake to ever exist, look never than EVIL DEAD 2013 Hands down, the most METAL ASF horror film ever, pays homage to the OG trilogy in every way, and not to mention MR. GROOVY himself, Ash Williams IS BACK as a cameo Really wanted a sequel to this, but hey I'm looking forward to Evil Dead Rise
y'all have to watch the final destination series if you haven't already! It's so cheesy but honestly I think y'all would enjoy it edit: there is a second one coming out in april of 2023
What I like is that when the characters makes dumb mistakes. It actually makes sense. When Mia says there's something out there. They blow her off. Not cause their stupid. But because they assume it's withdrawals. Besides the dumb professor dude with glasses of course
The guy at the end was Ash, as in the classic Ash and the Evil Dead. You should watch that too, there is a new series as well. Amazing reaction, there was screaming, laughing, bruises and intense horror 😂. Top notch 👍🏻😎.
The end of the movie where the guy says, "groovy"... was the actor who played the character from the original film (Ash). It was a cameo appearance at the end for fan service. If you haven't watched the original Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, and Army of Darkness... than you need to watch them.
Hope you guys watched the trilogy (they are not garbage ,I don't think anything art is garbage cause everything is subjective and liked by someone and visa versa)and the tv show(it gets taken off of Netflix in late April).
No, the dog didn't count as a soul. Remember, Mia died. David made a makeshift defibrillator to bring her back to life, but she died. So she counted as one of the five souls despite being alive at the end. That was the whole reason Olivia and Eric mentioned her OD and prior death and revival earlier in the film. Edit: Eric is a high school history teacher. He studies ancient languages and civilizations. Reading the book (to him) was completely harmless at first. As for removing the barb wire and plastic? Pure curiosity.
