@@bhavitej9112 Dear Shilpa, Thank you for your kind words. Yes indeed we are blessed to be born in Malabar, and to inherit a culture deeply rooted in tradition and customs. However, much of it is being sadly erased, by the foolish norms and criteria people blindly engage in, as per what the social media dictates , and emulate a jarring life style that is definitely not in harmony with the environment or the natural beauty , which God has generously gifted this beautiful state with. In less than 50 years, beautiful, sprawling mansions known as NAALU KETTU AND ETTU KETTu, built in the traditional style, making extensive use of jack wood , teak and rose wood for their massive doors , windows and ceilings. ....sheer poetry in wood.....are all becoming a thing of the past. Each of these houses had their own sacred groves, ponds and wells . Almost all have been decimated, to make way for the monstrous high rises, .....eye sores, that pass off as modern residences . The joint family system has all but disappeared, and along with it values, standards, shared moments with parents, uncles , grand parents, cousins who all came together under one roof for various family ceremonies, which in turn generated a deep sense of belonging. Respect for time honoured beliefs is slowly vanishing into the mists of time. Still, some of our rich traditions prevail, in little pockets in the interiors, and are still honoured , preserved and respected , in ancient dance forms like Theyyam performed annually at temple festivals (utsavam), music and folk lore, its unique cuisine, Ayurvedic herbal treatments, all of which are dedicated to a way of life that has a soul and is as ancient as time. Yah, you said right . I m from Punjab. The traditional way has its charm in modern world. It is only pomp and show. Like Vaisakhi in Punjab, it was not as ij old days, or when I was young. The celebration of teej( in the month of sawan...ij English calender August) girls used to tie swings with the trees esp Peepal, and play Giddha( traditional dance of women in Punjab). That innocence is losing out I think in every part of India. Festivals are there. But not the kind like before..Our Grandmother, mom told stories of old Punjab, traditional songs sung by them on different occasions. We, even don't know about them . I hope whr the festivals are celebrated in traditional, they keep performing. May Maa Durga bless each and every Indian..Our country usher in prosperity, flourish in peace...🇮🇳❤️❤️💐🌺.
