I am in Canada and unable yet to see the third season. I have never ever watched a series so powerful and well acted as Happy Valley. Kudos to all who made this. This is the best...ever.
Gob smacked with Sarah, the writing and James' performance! I found the realisation of how they all could have handled their drama and trauma better from the beginning most satisfying although understated. For Ryan's sake healing could have been achieved much sooner ... something we all get in hindsight.
Brilliant episode ... and having him set himself on fire seems to be SO appropriate as his entire life, he WAS on fire, constantly beating out the flames of anger, blame and manipulation and the no matter what, the taste of ashes in his mouth. Oh, and Sally W ;icked Northern women because they pull no s**t, tell the truth, can drink anyone under the table and still go to work the next morning and crochet an exceptionally useful blanket.
I know I hated Tommy, didnt ever think Id be able to get over that he was a r&pist. I love him wjat ever role he plays 🙏 amazing writing and acting 🙏🙏🙏 gutted its over tho 😢
A spin off with Ryan would never work. Tommy Lee is dead and Catherine's retired. Best to leave it at good legacy.. Good on Sally for closing the door to those rumours.
The best acted and the best written show. Definitely the best drama/show for a long time! I will miss happy valley, and I'm sadnits ended but so happy it ended on a high

I see now why the BBC often has comments turned off. People think it's an appropriate place to lodge a complaint. I have nothing to add to the actual comments because I think I'm still sitting here with my mouth hanging open from the finale! I was so worried they were going to "off" Catherine.

Brilliant series, only gripe is why if some deranged psycho is on the loose are there no police watching Catherine's house or CCTV, and no one sees a 6 foot man breaking in her window.
Well, firstly this is West Yorkshire, where there are scarcely enough coppers to deal with the crimes and accidents that actually happen, let alone to spare someone to keep watch on a house for something that's unlikely to happen. CCTV ? Can't say I know of more than a handful of houses around here that have it. No-one sees him because the basement window is below ground level, in a well to let light in, and where someone could easily hide. I know that house - it's on Hangingroyd Lane in Hebden Bridge - and the idea of TLR getting in that way isn't unrealistic.
I've watched the entire series 3 times in a row and may do a forth. Not ready to move on yet. I still need to watch Last Tango in Halifax, but I love Katherine Cawood so much. Wish the series could go on. 😢 I'm a Yank and I have started talking like the characters. 😅
Due to all the hype surrounding this series, we decided to watch it on iPlayer. My only criticism of it was that some of the scenes were so dark we had to draw the curtains in order to stop the reflections, don't they have lights in their homes up north?
Agreed. The subplots were never tied together with the main plot. They just trailed off to nowhere. Besides that, they were not interesting in the least. The dramatic scene in the kitchen was good, but weakened by the facts that it was too long, and contained technical inaccuracies: having doused himself in that much gasoline (or petrol as the Brits say) that entire kitchen would likely have gone up in flames. And no way could that fire have been put out with a crochet blanket, which itself is flammable. Sometimes, it's not enough to be emotionally manipulated. The details (and the laws of physics) matter.
I would love to see someone of Sally's talent to do a remake of the fantastic (but lost) 1967 Granada production of the Phylis Bentley trilogy Inheritance. She is in her element doing ...local...stuff.

Teachers had no idea of the tape hiding installed by AU then AU uploaded our voice for years for fun. Violation of the privacy resulted in many times deadly bloody incidents. The uploading and posting by Assumption uni is a crime committing.
Binged watched series 1 and 2 got Totally hooked then series 3 omg the best television series I have ever seen , the story’s the acting all just brilliant and a beautiful location awards galore I hope we’ll done to all involved in this superb series ❤
I think they should make a season four to wrap things up,and see how off the policework turns out 😀 And they should bring back the"Snooger"storyline😀 It was the best part of the series i think😀 Nothing became the same after that storyline went bonkers😛

Uploading resulted in deadly incidents. Hundred of teachers have no right degrees, cheap pay from third world, lot of AU staff must help Assumption uni to commit the crime.

I'm delighted however that an intelligent, brilliantly written and arguably feminist drama as HV is capable of drawing such high viewing numbers. The BBC should stick to what its great at. I disagree....the writing for series 1 was pure brilliance. Utterly amazing and very deep. Sadly series 2 was embarrassing, incredibly woke and let's blame the straight white male scenario. How can such a brilliant performance in series 1 simply plummet into a weak and ineptitude of stories in S2? Blaming straight white males is getting increasingly boring (sometimes the bad guy isn't white).
I'm curious why BBC shuts off the comment section of some videos .... Instead of showing ex girlfriends statement they should show some real evidence on Andrew tate 🙄🙄
