Utterly magnificent. As always, the Compenius sounds glorious: first heard it on an LP in the '60s played by Helmut Tramnitz - and that recording is still one of the best, even today. As a postscript, I have to add that Vogel's first improvisation is simply the finest 'period' one I've ever heard. When I hear it, I still nearly break: it's simply wonderful stuff throughout.
