Harassed By Cop While Dumpster Diving For Food 

AND......with all the crime going on in the country I'd think cops would have something better to do than monitor dumpster divers trying to keep stuff out of the landfills!

Guys I got stopped the other night at Aldi I had 3 sherriff's cars... luckily 1 was my uncle... He told the first one who originally stopped us to leave us alone... lol then he told me to let him know when I'm going to be out after 1-2 am Divin... I said ok... but he also told me that he would let me know when there's stuff to go get so I don't waste my time... how awesome is that!! Love the Haul guys we got a bunch too.. luvs ya! Your Ohio Fam, The Fall's And ps ask the managers there when they are open if ya'll can get boxes... they usually Always say sure...then your in the clear to be there!!

It's one thing to ask you what you were up to, but you are in the right. There is a federal law that states that dumpster diving is LEGAL in all 50 states(California vs Greenwood), unless there is a local ordinance against it, no trespassing signs, the dumpster is locked or attached directly to the building. Good for you and continued success! I love your videos!!

Use the Italian dressing to marinate chicken for 24 hours in the fridge then grill the chicken. It’s great! My daughter has loved her chicken that way since she was 4 or 5 years old. She’s now 36. Private property my ass. If that was the case there wouldn’t be a retail store on the property for the general public to use and have access to! That cop is full of crap.

Public property is private property it's a store, not a house the cop had nothing better to do

Take the candles. Remove the glass. Just put the wax in another vessel.

If you take those new broken candles you find and stick them in the freezer for about 20-30 min and the glass will pop right off and you can still us the candle part 😊

Great dive y'all. Some cops take it upon themselves to say that I had permission and I got pulled and he said that and I called inside the store and she came out and put him in his place.

Should of told him here's the deal you show me a no trespassing sign or a law that says it is illegal and then we will quit until then kick rocks. That cops seemed like a real jerk.

Only if the owner of the property called the cops to have you to leave would the cop have a reason to "warn" you. You may not have permission to be there but that doesnt mean the owners told the cops they want you gone, either. The reason I think you guys get pulled over a lot and harrassed by the cops is because you do it so late at night/or early morning. Everyone is a potential suspect at that time of night, in a cops mind. Many youtubers dd in day time. But you gotta go when you can. Very glad you both cooperated with him. It isnt worth the hassle of arguing. Always better to leave with no issues. This way dd isnt getting a hard look. As long a you dont make a fuss, they arent going to get all strict and then have stores put "no tresspassing" signs up. We hope. Keep diving!

If you guys like macaroni salad that Italian dressing is fabulous mixed in. Idk if y'all are fans of marinated stuff but there's an excellent recipe for sliced cucumbers & super thin sliced onion & you mix a half bottle of Italian dressing & half a bottle of ranch together & just pour it over. I'm sure you could use other veggies too

OMG adorable raccoon! Yeah, I didn't like that you had to provide ID! I would have turned it over too, but it isn't right that they ask. It's not private property - that's bullshit. There is no assumption of privacy in a public parking lot! The store itself is private property too, right? But you are allowed in. The parking lot is "private property" but you are allowed to park there! I hate that kind of bullshit! I know we live in different states, but I called my county's prosecutor's office about this very issue and they said it is not trespassing unless it's posted as such - no assumption of privacy in a publicly accessible parking lot - I know you know all this already. I think the cop also knew he was full of shit. Still, great haul and great video!

Broken candles can put in freezer glass comes off easy .melt down wax make your own candles

you should get the candles and melt them and make new candles in mason jars. Would make great yard sale items as well as selling them on line.

Like other garbage divers, having a tidy car with locked boxes or bags would certainly be an advantage in police stops, and easier to carry indoors in the rain. I always see it that way in other videos.^^

What a score. Italian salad dressing, use it to bake potatoes with. Take your potatoes, quarter them, sprinkle the italian on it and bake. Good stuff.

What an arse that PoPo! He was harassing you! Legally it has to have private signs. I would call that Family Dollar & ask if it’s private property & if so where are the signs. You handled it well.

If someone came into my yard to look through my garbage I would consider it trespassing, it would be different if my garbage pail was by the road. I think that's what he was saying, the dumpster is on a private lot, not a public lot. And if a police officer saw someone on my property going through my garbage, I would hope they would check it out. I'm all for dumpster diving, and I know there are some unfair/bad cops, however, this one was polite and explained everything. I don't think you should label him as harassing you.

The dumpster you found most of your haul, was it close to a food bank location. The milk Stacy found along with several other things are warehouse products specifically manufactured for food banks.

I'm not big into Italian dressing but what my family does you get a nice big fat tri-tip put it in a ziplock bag in the Italian dressing for a couple of days so it really gets at the meet and then cook it on the barbecue as you see fit we like to start an hour or two on low in the aluminum foil and then transfer to the Grill comes out real tasty got this recipe for my uncle from Brownsville Texas LOL

Always know the law better then the cops, you could even print a copy of the law and keep it in your truck so you can show it if a cop is really giving you a hard time. In my area, the cops think that fireworks are %100 legal because where I live is not in town. But I looked at the noise bylaw, and it says that fireworks are legal between six pm and midnight so long as they do not disturb the peace and tranquility of a residential area and my area is zoned as residential.

That cop acted ridiculous and even if he didnt agree with dumpster diving, he cant legally stop you if it's not private property. That cop should be patrolling the streets for speeders, illegal drugs,true CRIMINAL ACTS,not someone that's not hurting anything. Keep doing what you're both doing!😊

I would suggest that you keep printed copies of the laws regarding dumpster diving with you in the truck. Then if you get pulled over again, you can hand the police officer a copy. They don’t know every single law that exists. You guys are always so friendly with them and it doesn’t hurt to help them be more educated by handing them a copy of the laws. Just my thoughts on what I would do.

I am going to share a corn salad recipe for you to try! It sounds gross but everyone that has eaten it loves it... 1 Cup mayo (I use miracle whip), 1 sm green pepper diced, 1 sm red onion diced, 1 bag shredded cheddar cheese and 2 cans drained whole kernal corn. Mix together and refrigerate. When time to serve smash a bag of chili cheese fritos and mix in! It is not good left over with the fritos in it so i usually put them on individual servings. Enjoy ❤

What do u guys do with the food? I dumpster dive in my city just for makeup and candles. Id never touch or take the food cause u never know what is wrong with it, and its in the garbage for a reason. People in my city dumpster dive cause of ulta, bath&body works, bed bath&beyond, staples, bestbuy, cost plus, petsmart. I nvr once seen food in them at all if their was i leave it for somebody else. Officer cannot tresspass you without being asked to by the owner or resident of the property (who can tresspass you, which means: if THEY tell you to leave and you refuse, you are tresspassing. If THEY tell you to not return and you return, you are tresspassing. And you are correct, ID was NOT a legal order. Without your violation, he's just another guy on the street.

Be cautious with the Kambusha and check to see if it needs to be kept refrigerated before opened ok

With all the people going hungry in the World, you have to what you can, when you can. The stores have to toss things by law or by someone who thinks the veggie freshness isn't up to their standard. Those vegetables were still in good condition from what I saw. The strawberry's, if there is no mold on them and they're not over squishy, they good. The candles, you can take the broken glass off of them and keep the wax for melt down. You can by Wicks in Hobby lobby. So, keep the candles, just discard the broken glass around. Looks like a great find. It's not just keeping it out of the land fill, it's satisfying the dinner table and saving you money. Oooo, lot's of taters, looks good to me. Never turn down taters if they're not rotten. Good hunting.
