Holy potatoes this set-up sounds nothing short of INCREDIBLE! such realism and tightly controlled musicality, definition and clarity, sounds like you are actually in front of the musicians, i would love so much to have this kind of gear but the cost is way beyond my reach and i do not have the room size in my house to really let this system "breathe" 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I say congrats on assembling a fantastic system. Obviously a lot of synergy going on here. Speaking as a working class audiophile that's a fan of similar gear, I really don't think you overspent, as others here have implied. Those electronics give lots of juice and control with very low noise, and those speakers give up the goods in true fashion. I've got some old Rogers ls6/a, and these types of monitors present the critical frequencies in s satisfying manner. A sax sounds like a sax, vocals are natural. Anyway, just want to say great job on your listening space and artful selection of gear. Enjoy the music.
This is absolutely the best audio video I have ever seen. People should listen in the dark and not see the speakers, close their eyes and LISTEN to the music. Then you ruined it for me and turned on the lights!! To show off the $$ McIntosh $$
Dear bluemcintosh127,Excellent system, so musical and best choose of song.I watch more than 20 times.Could you please tell me the music name of 2:04 and 3:55
"Identically good sound"????? Really? I know having cable stands is a little anal retentive, but to get equal sound quality for 10% of the cost? I don't know if I would go THAT far. It's possible to get great sounding gear for less money, but it's OBVIOUSLY what that person wants and can afford. It's also possible to get even better sound for more money. But, if someone puts down an expensive system, that just seems like an automatic response jealous people make because they can't afford it. BTW, it's possible to buy just about anything used if one wants to save money to get something similar for less money (w or w/o cable stands. LOL).
It all depends on the equipment. There's too much equipment being made, so it's kind of hard to know for sure what we can get for what price. Obviously, if a company cuts corners and sells direct, they might be able to get very close for a lot less, but that's only a guess. There are people that get the same drivers, and a crossover that is close to the same thing that a specific brand might be using and they build their own cabinet, which is cheaper, but not everyone is going to do that, or even know how to build a cabinet. But that's one way to save money. But there are nice products regardless at various price points. It's all trying to figure out what works what doesn't and if you can get good sounding audio within your own budget. That's about all you can really do, from a practical standpoint.
Oneness100 . OK, yes perhaps 10% was a bit optimistic. I'll go with 20%. Funnily enough I say this as a hifi enthusiast, not a skeptic. I used to spend stupid amounts of money on hifi until I saw the light. (Now I waste my cash on other things, LOL). But really there's so much snake oil and when I see speaker cables on stands, I just have to laugh out loud.
ronlweasley I will agree with the getting those stands, but some of them just want to have cables separated from one another. I'm sure it's not necessarily for sonic improvement, but more cable management and since they have tons of money invested, they just want it to look esthetically pleasing. Anyone that gets into expensive hifi equipment knows that in order to get a small amount of improvement, the price tag goes up like a log scale. It's just part of that industry. It's similar to the auto industry. How much more would it cost for a Porsche owner to shave 1/2 a second from 0-60? Probably tens of thousands of dollars. Then another .1 of a second? Hundreds of thousands of dollars. A lot of this stuff is produced in very small quantity and they have a lot of R&D expense to recoup, marketing, cost to mfg. etc. I looked up the price of capacitors on this one site and they had caps that cost $1 or $2, then they had more expensive caps that cost $100, and even more than that, so the components alone can cost a LOT of money for the really good stuff. Same thing goes with tight tolerance resistors, custom wound transformers, matched drivers, etc. etc. Shit costs money. The cable mfg have to have custom made wire that's not made on the high speed winders, they have to source a company that uses the more expensive winders that wind at slower and that are more precise. It can get VERY expensive to make what they are making. Yeah, cables can make an improvement, sometimes it doesn't cost a lot, but many times it does. Personally, I'm happy with the least expensive Transparent Cables, they do just fine for people on a budget.. But heck, if you got the money, then that's THEIR decision. I just like looking at the different designs and listening to see what sounds best to my ears. I find it interesting.
i have a solution ... listen in the dark. It is fascinating. When the room is very well treated with the right recordings you could get the feeling to be transported in the place where the actual event took place. A jazz club, a concert hall ... it can be mesmerizing experience indeed.
