Hey Everyone, Today I try out the Universal Angle Grinder Dust Shield from Harbor Freight. Its used to vacuum up the dust from grinding concrete with an angle grinder. Will it work? Lets find out! www.harborfreight.com/4-in-to...
Thank you so much for this video! I was having trouble getting the Hercules dust shield on and your video got me thru it. Will be tackling some lippage on my stone floors soon
Fantastic product!! I hadn’t really shopped harbor freight but after finding this dust shield there I will say I’m amazed by its quality and it’s effectiveness. I tried using my grinder with a diamond grinding cup without a dust shield inside my home just to gauge what a mess it would make and the room was filled with dust within 30 seconds. It was so bad you almost couldn’t see through it. I bought this shield, hooked it up to my shop vac with a good filter, ran an exhaust hose from my vac out a window and started grinding again. What a difference. Absolutely zero dust!!!! What I learned is from here on I won’t be so quick to discount this discount store
Fantastic idea having the machine “exhale” out the window! I’m going to have to do that. I’m wearing a p100 mask to be safe (average n95 are not safe for grinding concrete, can still breathe in allll the bad stuff
Thanks for the mounting tips, I was having trouble figuring out mount it until I saw your video. You are right about cheap angle grinders, I burnt out my cheap Chicago Electric last year sanding my porch. It got so hot after 10 minutes I couldn't hold it. If you want a powerful grinder try the Hercules 57348. I got one and very large porch for a week taking off seven layers of old paint. It's long and easy to control and with 13 amps it barely gets warm. Works well the concrete grinder attachment.
Very nice for the price...I do a lot of grinding. When you grind, you may want to try to go in a circular pattern. With some pressure...let the grinder spin that diamond cup wheel and you will see how nice of a job it does. Great Video!!
Thanks for the vid. I grabbed a 8amp sacrificial grinder for the same price as the dust extractor while at HF along with 2 of their segmented cup blades. Almost done grinding my 800sqft basment and so glad I DIY'd it. Found packing down the blades with washers easier than adjusting the guard height when the blades waer down
my only issue is that the shop vac is blowing dust out the back. I realized I could put a vacuum bag back there and that is much better but still get some leaking from the shop vac and a garage full of dust
i got this for my 7inch grinder....not sure what i did wrong but im getting a lot of concrete dust shooting out of the shroud at the "1-2 o'clock" part of it
I still have no idea how this is supposed to attach. I have test fit the spacer pieces but I cannot get any to fit once inserted. Edit- literally as soon as I typed this went on. Just took a bit of finessing.
I was stoked to use this but quickly found out, the tool-less adjustable grinding shield on my DeWalt grinder prevents this shield from mounting on it. I'm sure I can't remove all the components involved in that, and after grinding for a few minutes without a shield... Well I'm looking into it now 😅
Do yourself a favor and buy the 15 amp 7-9” Hercules grinder and then get the 7” shroud. You saved yourself from buying the small one 😁👍 mine came with some weird metal washers that have zero instructions on where to go. Also I’m running into the grinder nkt being able to touch the floor cuz the bristles of the shroud. Might be fine if I push down on it but I haven’t tried it yet cuz I don’t want to do it wrong and have it fall off and cause any damage to me or the machine
It doesnt fit DeWalt grinders. I have two, one battery powered and the other a/c, and this shroud doesnt fit either one properly. I just got off the phone w/ Harbor Freight and they were no help. I'm very upset I wasted time on a tool that doesnt fit what it says it fits. This is also referred to as false advertising and its illegal in some states.
