This was my first compressor but after having purchased a couple cheap airbrushes, I haven't gotten to use this brush, the point zero is ok, trigger is not as smooth as the other 4 cheapies, including a no name, Vivohome, and an HD model. Then I found that a compressor with a tank results in smoother spraying, I got the VIVOHOME compressor w/tank & it is awesome. I use the HF compressor for cleaning. I just happened to use the HD brush the most, and the Point zero. Again, I paid no more that $18 on any airbrush. These work very well for me, great atomization and detail as well. I've only used acrylics, and tip drying is common no matter the cost of your airbrush. Practice is the main factor in obtaining desired results, no matter what you're painting. The plastic Flying Dutchman kit turned out like professional with these cheap airbrushes. I did notice when I got ready to use them this winter, two needle tips were bent, but I had spares, one .5mm was no good out of the box, either the nozzle, cap, or needle, but since they were less than $5 each, I just tossed the bad one and the next one was perfect. I then saw a video on treating cheap airbrushes like the expensive ones, & polished the needles, lubed them properly, and all but the Point Zero have super smooth trigger operation. Happy paining.
I am also a complete newbie at this, just purchased this kit today for $85. Do you still think this setup is decent for a beginner? Better than nothing at all and never start right 🤘🤘
thinking about buying it right now... all the other "airbrush kits" out there have such horrible reviews about quality im still on the fence but i think im leaning my ass to harbor freight for the Avanti,, great review man thanks,, About to start airbrushing for my first time and will be doing a thicker glow paint that is amazing.. i know it needs to be thinned and i have that sorted but my question is, what tip would be best for this .5 or .3 .... or can be done with both easily if thinned properly and kept well stirred as i shoot the action figures? From what i understand the glow particles are a little bigger than normal paint,, thank you to anyone for answering this.
I recently purchased this…it is very quiet. (It just seems louder on camera) I haven’t actually used mine yet, but I did the set up and checked the pressure. I did notice my house seemed to have a leak in it(where I can hear air). The housing looks like the threads are too short….any advice? I’m new to the air brush world. Also the most recent price is $109.99
after 5 months I'm sure someone answered your question. the threads are an NPT style, they have a slight taper versus the normal straight thread. Straight thread bottoms into something or bolts, NPT threads tighten against themselves, and use thread tape to avoid thread deformation/over-tightening.
Another newbie here. When I run mine, my running pressure drops and stays at around 20. Is this the nature of this particular compressor? It was recommended to me to keep the running pressure at 25-30. Maybe I just dont get it.
I'm new to airbrushing, I bought this kit, my first airbrush. What paint are you using?? I bought Createx Opaque to go with this and added reducer, mix for 2 minutes, but it wont work unless it is thinned to about 90% reducer at 30 psi. I changed the nozzle and needle size to a NEO .05 but it is still not flowing well and stops working after a few seconds and the paint is not smooth. It is beyond frustrating. I swear it just doesn't like me.
A problem you may have generated for yourself swapping to the .5 needle and nozzle is you still have the nozzle cap for whatever the airbrush came with (which is probably a .3 or .35). On the NEO, you have to swap all 3, and if you don't swap the nozzle cap, the outside of the larger nozzle with almost completely plug the hole in the nozzle cap, killing most of your airflow.
I had the same problem when shooting Model paint that I thinned, Instead of needle swapping I ended up buying some Army Painter inks and it solved the issue for me! I hope this helps! However Buying a completely new gun an needle are almost a must for this particular unit!!!
@@tyloretheadventurer 2 quick questions, can you remove the water trap jar to get rid of the ounce of the access water that wont drain? What airbrush would you recommend that wont break the bank? Money is an issue... Thanks for the reply. I ended up taking back the .5 and used what it came with, watering down cheap walmart acrylics worked good. I will try some Army Painter inks. @@Elemental_Entity the best branded for the price is a Neo Iwata, it runs about $70 usd but can by used ones for about $35 - 40 on eBay besides that I would say the gun that came with the compressor is actually better than the $20 Amazon ones. I will use that brush again and let you know on the trap, however you can get a blower tip for cheap at harbor freight about $7 and use it blow your gun out if not, or use a separate air brush to blow it out.
@@Elemental_Entity if you could save up for a neo it is definitely worth it. But wether a branded brush or not remember it’s all on how you mix your paint and keep up maintenance at the end of the day on performance and the more expensive ones typically just offer better control
