Here's a review of The Harbor Freight 63896 switchable heavy duty welding magnet it seems like a pretty decent unit for the price. But probably not the heaviest Duty switchable welding magnet you can get

Didn’t even this tool existed. Gonna get one so one day I can tell my friends, “Oh yeah, got one of those in my tool box already.” Thanks for the review.

The switch on the one I got is VERY hard to use. A glove is needed to protect your hand. I hope it loosens up after use. I like Magswitch with the rotary switch better but for the price this can be useful for infrequent use.

If you disassemble the magnet, inside there are 2 bar magnets which are SO FUCKING INCREDIBLY STRONG, very likely N52 grade. Love them. The interior construction has if you can imagine a rod, and near both ends there are rectangular magnets with their long way following the axis of the rod. And they are glued between 2 pieces of aluminum that actually make them rod shaped except the rod is split down the middle by the switch. The switch is like in the middle of the rod and what it's doing, is rotating the rod, spinning it on its axis so that the magnets go from their flat end being parallel to the bottom of side, to the flat side rotating so that its parallel to the broad flat face of the entire magnet. Anyways the magnets are so fucking powerful, I was caught off guard big time because they're glued between 2 aluminum pieces each so you think there's 6 magnets total with them being average strength for the size, but when you actually take them apart, its just the 2 strong af n52 magnets.

I bought one, after turning it on and placing on 1 1/2 tubing, it fell off under it's own weight. I think quality control control sucks at this company, its hit or miss.

I use these for welding. I own 4 of them. The switches are absolute junk on all 4 of them. Don't waste your money on these. Drill the rivets out to see the garbage inside. I did.

I think I may have gotten a dud, mine is barely a magnet. May exchange it our return, it's a paperweight atm :/
