Here's a review of the six piece dual heavy duty screwdriver set and comparing it to the Pittsburgh professional and the Quinn Diamond tip I think they're nice screwdrivers but Harbor Freight has too many other options available and so it is tough to recommend these

Thank you for your fair and honest review.. I’ve been very curious about the Doyle screwdriver since they were released simply because I love my Pittsburgh pros that you had mentioned as well. Keep the good content coming please!

I've had this set going on 2 years, I bought the set because of the 2 through shank screwdrivers. After using them as chisels and pry bars the tips are still the way they were, when they were new. Scratched up yes, but not out of shape or chipped.

Great video, well thought out like always. Might pick up the Doyle’s because I like having the cabinet tip when I need it.

It was so funny hearing you talk about having problems getting a lot of torque with Phillips head screwdrivers... Most people do not seem to know, but the entire reason for their existence was to limit torque! One of the auto companies had problems with workers overtightening screws and stripping their heads when using power screwdrivers and the Phillips solved this along with making it easier to center the screwdriver and not slipping off the screw when using at high speed. The slight difference in head sizes may be because one of them may actually be a Japanese JIS B 1012 head. They are designed not to torque out and have the advantage that you can use a JIS B 1012 to drive Phillips. You cannot use a Philips to drive a JIS B 1012 though. There was a many page website dedicated to all the head types but I cannot find it right now or I would link to it. It is fascinating all the special purposes that the different heads were designed for! Thanks for the review! P.S. I always have problems with a lot of the 'rubber' feeling tool handles because the all seem to 'melt' after a few years. They get very 'sticky' and you do not even want to touch them. Apparently it is a known problem and can be prevented by a slightly different chemistry in the mix, but it costs a few pennies more, so...

Nice review. I don’t plan on buying either screwdriver set, but I’d go with the Quinn set. I have made mention to Harbor Freight of thinning out the screwdriver aisle some.

Hello again Catus Another Great Video. Thank you for the insight into Harbor Freight screwdrivers. At some point I have to replace my old Popular Mechanics Screwdrivers. I think, I paid about Ten dollars for the set. Again thank you

Ha, your so right about HF competing with themselves. That's why I'm here, trying to figure it if the Doyle set it worth the extra $5 but I agree with the Quinn 6pc with added demo screwdrivers. Great video, thanks

I recently the Purchased the Pittsburgh pro set and extra sizes, a two pice quin set, the 2 piece long striking cap Pittsburgh set and the 2 piece Milwaukee demolition set. I haven’t put them to any hard use yet but I do like all, as a DYI’er.

I was looking at these and the 2 pc set has the striking caps on them and include one flat head, which is the same one that comes in the six pc. set and a longer Phillips that would compliment that set. But you end up with two of the same driver.

Geometry, tolerances matter on the screw drivers. This reminds me of an ave vid where he showed off a flat head made for firearms. It would be interesting to see which ones were more likely to strip out fasteners. Or with different people using them too.

I like the square shanks on the slotted but on the phillips i dont like the transition to the bit. I constantly had issues with the quinn (not diamond tips, the normal quinn) camming out in high torque applications.

To break free and not damage the heads of stuck, small screws, why not use a reversed impact driver at the lowest setting, to break them free. I bought the HF 1/4" Pneumatic Impact Screwdriver for just that purpose. I haven't tried it yet but I'm hoping it will help remove stuck jointer and planer knife hold down screws! Thanks for all your informative videos!

You could put an adjustable wrench on the hilt of the Doyle also....(it's a big plastic nut)...👈

I had to make a quick HF run yesterday. I was tearing down my mom's old treadmill and couldn't reach a few of the screws set deep in pockets. I went in thinking I'd buy an Icon set but the Doyles had more comfortable handles and sharper tips. They're better quality than the Kobalt drivers I keep in my truck tool bag and have better, grippier handles than my old Craftsman Industrial set. I'll probably buy the bigger set for my tool bag and keep my Craftsman at home in the tool chest (a U.S. General from HF).

Those round shank ones are cabinet tips, not something typically associated with heavy duty. They make more sense in their Doyle cushion set, which seems to be going for a red Klein clone look. The 2 sets just seem like they were slapped together without giving them much thought, especially when the demo set is also available for the big slotted and ph2, so there's no Doyle ph3. Would make sense to have a ph3 instead of one of the two 3/16.

The Quinn demolition drivers with the striking caps look a lot like the previous gen Milwaukee’s. Probably the same Taiwanese OEM, and if so, those are GREAT drivers / small prybars.

Also like the phillips head design on the Quinn better. Most of the time, they will grip better, which is huge to me. I've recently gone through my 30+ year collection of screwdrivers and tossed all the ones that had marginal grip, which was most of them. Still have more than I will ever need.

$20? Shoot. After one of those weekly 20% off, you can get em for $16. I was looking at these yesterday. Really like the handle and strike caps, but wanted to get some opinions on em. May wait to see if they go on sale or just get another set. Not sure yet.

Honestly, with the coupon those Quinn screwdrivers with the diamond tips made me realize that a good screwdriver matters. Compared to my cheapie USA Craftsman screwdrivers (you know the ones, come in a set with the translucent handles and give off quite the stink after several years). But the big ol’ shanks on the Quinns keep me from chucking the Craftsmans.

Well said I have those same Craftsman screwdrivers, over 20 years later the stench is still there.

If you read the description on HF website, they say wire looping holes. Are there any? Seems like they are competing with Klein.

The Doyle drivers look good. Though I'm not a fan of a square shank on Quinn Phillips drivers, although the Doyle has a hex shank.

Do you have any screwdrivers from Europe or Japan? I'd love to see what you think of higher end tools. The wood handled ones from Felo look great.

I pay for all this out of my own pocket so that's why I buy so much Harbor Freight stuff because of this cheap when my channel gets big enough and I have enough Revenue to actually pay for hi end stuff I will certainly buy it but I'm a long way from that.

I had a set of the Pittsburgh pro and those were awesome screwdrivers, I don't understand why HF just didn't upgrade and offer complete sets of the Pittsburgh pro line in the first place we don't need all these brands. I never had an issue with the Pittsburgh pro line other than they were incomplete sets and the ratchets were OK not my favorite but for what they cost you really couldn't go wrong.

How does giving a variety become a problem. Or as you say creating competition with itself. It’s all going in there pocket any way. With that said I have Quinn and the doyle brand. I like them both actually. But my go to would be the doyle brand. I love the ergonomics of the handle, I feel like I get a better grip and I have yet had one slip on me when tightening down fasteners. The long rounded flat head has saved my ass many times.

I like round shanks better. They give max clearance and allow quick spinning by finger. I have never needed a wrench to turn the driver, the real problem is getting enough down force to keep the driver from camming out. If you need the wrench to turn the driver, the handle is crap.

Is it comical or insulting the name branding is anchored in western references with no connection. If there is so much praise why is branding verbiage not linked to the actual area of manufacture.

@@zimtage1744 Yes that's true. They have a lot of Chinese stuff but the hardline tools and screwdrivers are not... as most come from Elizabethton, Tn. Anything like electronics, lights and batteries will be China as any company. They only offer one floor jack made here in the USA and thats the aluminum one that comes from the Alabama plant but better have deep pockets to buy it.
